As someone nearing my 80s it's fascinating to me how designs and techniques go in and out of fashion. Aged about 8 or 9, in 1953 or 54, I watched my Mam repaint a wall with very much this method except she used distemper. It's an ancient product but cheap, and she used several light colours and scrunched up rags and mixed them directly on the wall. It was easier and way cheaper than wallpaper which was more the thing back in England then. Each time I see this done I'm taken right back to watching her pounce away, and how pretty it looked. It's still a lovely technique! 😍
@Beruthiel45 thanks for sharing this. I lost my mom and dad in 2020 and I loved the stories mom would share with me about their home when she was a child. My grandparents raised 12 children in that original 2 room house. My grandfather later added a kitchen and bathroom and enclosed the back porch as a Laundry room. The family home was sold in 2019. It had a total of 5 rooms and a bathroom. It still boggles my brain how my grandparents raise their large family in such a small home. I’m sure Love was a big factor. 🤟🏼🤍
Really the difference some little changes can make in a room. Before it seemed as if the headboard was a miniature and now we can see it as "fully grown". Forgive if my explanation is a little confusing but english is not my mother language 😊
Thankful you’re feeling better but man was I having Danie withdrawls and concerned about you. Not today it’s SaturDIY all is right with the world again. Raining outside cocoa and Danie inside perfect day.
Love the pop of burgundy/wine in the bedding! Lowering the bed is not only functional but gives the illusion of a larger space. The darker stained closet doors, side tables, and headboard create such a relaxing vibe against the lighter walls. No doubt you’ll both enjoy it!
Danie, we are renovating an 1800’s schoolhouse so I feel your pain. Nothing is ever square or level 😂 I’ve learned to say the house has a lot of character 😂 I absolutely love your channel and all of your diys. Now if you could just share some of your energy. Have a wonderful weekend and be much love from Maine ❤️❤️
Love that ulu. Amongst the Inuit, where this knife design has been used for thousands of years) it’s a woman’s knife. They are widely used in Nunavut/NWT, Nunatsiavut/Labrador. They are very multi-functional and some are very beautiful. The shape alone is gorgeous. Edited to add WOW! That bedroom is awesome.
Danie, I recommend that the next time you do a sponge effect on a wall, you use some glaze mixed with the paint, a glaze made for wall decor, or if you don’t find some, you can use a medium to make the paint dry slower, I think that Lefranc & Bourgeois has one, because what you did is very difficult to do on big surfaces with a paint which dries so fast. It will allow you to do the touch-ups right away and you won’t need to correct anything later. Also sharing different tasks is better than two people doing the same thing, because each person has a different way to do it, so your method was the right now. More you will put some glaze or medium in the mix, more it will become transparent but also it will dry slower. So it’s up to you to decide the right mix. I used to work for an English brand named Polyvine which was making these kinds of glazes, and we were selling to the professionals, I was doing some demonstrations and decorating walls to show the process. Believe me, it will make your task much easier. I don’t think that this brand still exists. Maybe Annie Sloan sells that stuff? I’m not sure, she used to work with Polyvine too, that was many, many years ago. Anyway, nice bedroom, I really love the shelf.
So nice to see u again. My dear friend don't feel bad for taken care of ur health. We do love and respect u. Thank you for taken the time for doing videos. 🙏🏻🥰🇵🇷Mucho Amor..
The space looks so much more elevated now! It was beautiful before but it’s so much more put together now. Amazing work as always, it’s so cool seeing how your style changes over time!!
Great to see you back! Hope your break was relaxing- glad you’re feeling better too. I have to admit that my Saturday mornings are so much better with a Danie video. Got an idea for your ceiling light- what about using a pot light and just painting something around it? I can see you as Michelangelo!!
I love how simple it is. Yet every thing in there is so detailed and beautiful. Ahhhh this is just..yes. beautiful beautiful beautiful. Especially with that wardrobe. Love it.
This is beautiful! The pendant lights aren’t my favorite on their own but, them with everything they look pretty neat! I love the color you stained your headboard and your bedding. ✨
I keep picturing a light fixture that is flush but covers a lot of ceiling space, like tree branches with multiple bulbs spread throughout. I love that wardrobe so much, and the new live edge shelf. Great work!
Oh Danie, it looks frigging awesome 😁love it so cosy, the dark wood is so warming and that burgundy wow, well done, so enjoy watching your videos. Have a great weekend and enjoy xx☀️🌻🐝💫
Love the wood elements and stain choices Danie. That wardrobe make over !! Walls turned out great. How about Edison bulbs. they come in that large round shape.
I absolutely love the shelf. I kinda wanted to keep the moss and bark. Haha And oh my gosh I love the linens! The burgundy is so rich against the cream and greige. I would love that. And and and that mirror is lovely as well. Great job. 💕
Wow!! Totally inspiring makeover. So cozy and beautiful! My only suggestion would be to cover the light/lamp cords. Perhaps paint beige or wrap with twine? Just a small suggestion! Thank you for sharing your talents, and vision. I love how you take many elements, and bring them together in a totally 'you' way!! 💗
Every touch made it perfect😙🤌🏼 Chef kiss, the vision is accomplished♠️🔥 Just a little touch of the rug being a little more out to the wardrobe will be perfect to finish it..(I mean not being under the side tables might do it🤩)
I have a hard time finding ceiling lights i like too. But I think what would look nice are terracotta or a soft ceramic flushmount light. Or my go to would be recessed lights, maybe embellished? Or could do like most hotel rooms and don't have a ceiling light.
Danie, you truly knocked this one out of the park!!!! Not a beige person myself BUT with all the rest of the bedroom pieces, it’s simply gorgeous. Aloha from Hawaii 🌺
As I was awkwardly reaching for my iced coffee, you pulled out the woven side tables! That's what I need in this spot! Love your vibe, Danie, even when it changes mid-diy. Glad you are feeling better! You were missed
Wow that is amazing. I love it 😍 And you gave me the inspiration. I obsess limewash technique but in my country i couldn't find to this kind of paint but I can use your technique 😍 I'm so excited.
Wow I love the stained wicker table. It makes it warmer and richer looking. I also love the headboard stain. It looks beautiful. Your whole room turned out amazing. One thought for you? Would your paper bowl work to cover your light frame on your ceiling? I think the painting you did is fine, just a thought if you don't love it. And it would tie it to your bedside lights which are so cool.
A wonderful space made fabulous! It’s a cozy nest. Treelinda shines now because she can show off her beautiful burgundy branches. Everything you did is wonderful. Even the light on the ceiling, because it’s disappeared!🌸
Beautiful❤️. Good choice to lower the bed, so the lovely headboard is showing. Gorgeous cupboard doors are shining so much brighter now that the rest of the refresh elements are in place. Enjoy.
Wow, what a great re-do. I agree about greige, my other fave new word is squoval for that rounded square fingernail shape! I was thinking for your ceiling light could you use a slice of natural wood? Cut out a central ring shape, fit some frosted glass/perspex, and have the wood with an abstract shape for the outer edges. Then hang it slightly lower from the ceiling with metal suspension wire? Might give some interesting light patterns round the room? Have a wonderful rest of your day and thank you for the inspiration, I'm just starting to plan my bedroom makeover, including a cotton rug on the bed for extra warmth and texture. 🥰
🤩WOW!! So good!😍 I wouldn't want to leave this space either. Love the colors with the warm wood tones! It's so cozy! Oh and I have that same rug. I'm always impressed by your skills, but more so by how you're able to bring YOUR vision and style to life. You've truly made this home you're own. 💜
I finally found a larger mirror from the thrift store for $25. Yay! It has an ornate gold frame. My house is Wabi Sabi with a zen garden. Plus my quilts! And a mid century modern lamp I love. Known as early marriage to my mom.
Look so cozy! I'm glad you are feeling better. I had to speed watch - I'm headed to the grocery store after the hurricane ... hopefully there is something on the shelves now.
What an amazing makeover! The before was really lovely, but the after is just so cozy, natural and soothing. Love those dark colors so much, but even though that wardrobe, headboard, side tables, and floating live edge wood shelf (gorgeous!) are all dark, the color somehow doesn't overwhelm the room. The lowered bed makes a lot of difference as we're able to see more of the headboard and also the extra headroom is really noticeable. It looks like such a welcoming room, and a perfect place to slumber away the night.

@@ViKee010 Most definitely. 😊💞
I love this!
Honestly lowering that bed made such a difference! Being able to see the wood behind it! I’m in love 😍
it made the entire room feel bigger
Agreed!!
Totally agree! ♥
Stunning!
Really the difference some little changes can make in a room. Before it seemed as if the headboard was a miniature and now we can see it as "fully grown". Forgive if my explanation is a little confusing but english is not my mother language 😊
I think you should maybe by glass rounds for the tops of your nightstands. It will protect them from dirt getting in the cracks.
Thankful you’re feeling better but man was I having Danie withdrawls and concerned about you. Not today it’s SaturDIY all is right with the world again. Raining outside cocoa and Danie inside perfect day.
😂😂 ohhhh love a good snuggly rainy day!
Love the pop of burgundy/wine in the bedding! Lowering the bed is not only functional but gives the illusion of a larger space. The darker stained closet doors, side tables, and headboard create such a relaxing vibe against the lighter walls. No doubt you’ll both enjoy it!
"Modern organic" tends to be the right vibe haha

Love it all but the lamps.

Edited to add WOW! That bedroom is awesome.
I absolutely adore this space! It feels like a hug, or a warm mug of spiced tea on a cool fall day. 😊

The wall treatment reminds me of ⛅️ on a tranquil overcast day. Zen. Lot of work, but zen. The color on the side tables looks like chocolate 🍫.
Woke up at 8 am and was immediately like DIY DANIE TIME
Grab your coffee! 💕
So happy to see your face 😊! I'm happy you are feeling better.
That wine red color is just perfection
RIGHT?!?
The bedroom is lovely. I am so happy that you love it. I am not of a fan of the pendants, but that doesn't matter.
Lowering the bed was like *the* best choice!
So nice to see u again. My dear friend don't feel bad for taken care of ur health. We do love and respect u. Thank you for taken the time for doing videos. 🙏🏻🥰🇵🇷Mucho Amor..
The wardrobe doors are EVERYTHING! 😍😍 Love the warm, cozy vibe 🤎
The space looks so much more elevated now! It was beautiful before but it’s so much more put together now. Amazing work as always, it’s so cool seeing how your style changes over time!!

Evolving environments, your vision and your abilities are transforming as always! Blessed and safe days!
eclectic. that sums it up. that makes it Danie-style. gorgeous!
Those tables and lamps, that shelf! The headboard redo! I could go on!!! You nailed it on relaxing and cozy calm. ✨️
Danie you and Holly killed it!!! Your room looks so peaceful and cozy. You’ll enjoy sleeping in there every night😊DDecker
dropping that bed was such a game changer! it makes you able to actually see the rest of the room and all the work you put into it!
Try wrapping the light ring(ceiling light) with rope or jute to add organic texture. Love the room.
Love the painting. Room looks light & airy but grounded with the accents. 💛
Absolutely gorgeous, I just want to to crawl into bed and binge watch old film movies from the 40s,50's. You did an awesome job.
I keep picturing a light fixture that is flush but covers a lot of ceiling space, like tree branches with multiple bulbs spread throughout. I love that wardrobe so much, and the new live edge shelf. Great work!
The editing in this is on point 👌😂
The way you describe your style is exactly what I want
the bed being lower made it feel so much bigger. i hadnt even realized how cramped it seemed before. BEAUTIFUL!!!
I would also recommend getting some glass cut to go on those end tables. It will keep them nicer for longer!
Glad you are feeling better! Take as much time as you need I will always wait for your videos my favorite diyer!
Awe thank you Katerina! So appreciate it 💜💜
You could add trim to the ceiling light to make it look fluted or tambered.
Love it, You are so talented and funny at the same time. Love watching you remodel your home.
Good morning! I've missed you! Glad you're feeling mucho refreshed!
Mucho 😂
I also want to refresh my bedroom. Love the wood, feels calm.
I love live edge natural shelf and purple hair.
Those sheets are worth it. No matter how much. They are the perfect treat for the eye!
The whole room is so homey!
Another dazzling day by Danie
Beautifully done. It's so elegant yet refreshing. You incorporated so many elements to set the mood for your nightly dreams.
😊❤
Oh Danie, it looks frigging awesome 😁love it so cosy, the dark wood is so warming and that burgundy wow, well done, so enjoy watching your videos. Have a great weekend and enjoy xx☀️🌻🐝💫
Turned out just the way you envisioned it beautiful.
Love the wood elements and stain choices Danie. That wardrobe make over !! Walls turned out great. How about Edison bulbs. they come in that large round shape.
Your bedroom turned out really beautiful. Love the Red colour on your bed.
It’s beautiful. But I knew it would be. 👍🏼
It's soooo beautiful! Can I just check in and stay til the end of my life? 😍
Love, love, love the dark stain on the closet and headboard. They look so rich.
Really lovely. The room feels like a painting.😊
Love love love the warmth and coziness I can see why you want to stay there
I love how the room turned out! The chocolate brown was the perfect stain to bring everything together.
I absolutely love the shelf. I kinda wanted to keep the moss and bark. Haha And oh my gosh I love the linens! The burgundy is so rich against the cream and greige. I would love that. And and and that mirror is lovely as well. Great job. 💕
The headboard really shines now! Love how it all turned out.
Sanctuary...party of two.👍❤
I like both styles but the new one looks so elevated! you could design hotels
Ohh wow. What a compliment! Thank you!
I agree, I feel that the only thing the old bedroom needed was to lower the bed. But the new bedroom is so much more Danie!
The room looks amazing my favorite thing is the close🥰
The bedroom is FANTASTIC!!!❤
Danie you have made the room so cool. I love the burgundy.

Love your channel and your fun, beautiful laugh!! Your creativity in simplicity is beyond measure. Thank you for sharing!
Looks AMAZING!! I love the bed lower, makes a huge difference
5am here....a DIY Danie to start off my day....WOW!!
I love the dimension you’ve added with just colour and stain! It looked good before but now it’s stunning!
Have the same short wall challenge. Love this room!!!
Stunning!! As always Danie! Enjoy the new vibe! Gorgeous! Those lights are spectacular and make it!
As I was awkwardly reaching for my iced coffee, you pulled out the woven side tables! That's what I need in this spot! Love your vibe, Danie, even when it changes mid-diy. Glad you are feeling better! You were missed
Love the wicker tables!!!!💖great job on everything!!!
Happy Saturday morning! Hip Hip Hurray for feeling more yourself!
Haha thanks Colleen!

Ive definitely thought about creating some cool light for the ceiling using the same technique!
Love all the natural touches. My dad made me a desk out of live wood and I left the bark - it's my fav piece. Your room is stunning!
A wonderful space made fabulous! It’s a cozy nest. Treelinda shines now because she can show off her beautiful burgundy branches. Everything you did is wonderful. Even the light on the ceiling, because it’s disappeared!🌸

Glad you're feeling better! Love the makeover!
This came out so beautiful your really killed this look and more. So creative with your hands!! Bravo!!
It reminds me of my grandma's house not the look so much as the feeling ,I love it

One of my favorites Danie! It is absolutely beautiful!
Cozy,warm, & wonderful!
Well done looking calm and comfy. Enjoy.
Love love your bedroom make over! ❤

I'm glad you're safe from the hurricane. That's much more important 💜
Paint job is beautiful.
I like both the before and after. Of the after, I like the rich, darker wood tones, and everything else. Beautiful job both ways!
Beautiful cozy and inviting bedroom. Terrific!!!
What an amazing makeover! The before was really lovely, but the after is just so cozy, natural and soothing. Looks Awesome!!!
You had me going back and forth on this one, but in the end, as usual you pull it all together!!!
"Trust the process"!
Everyone is still painting wooden and your create a wardrobe with wooden tones as the main feature. You're radical! 😍😍🤣🤣
