Just think, somewhere someone watching your videos has the same reaction you did when you watched those other videos. It’s all about perspective and realizing who we are and what we do is enough, and we should draw inspiration not comparisons from the people we watch. You are an amazing talent and smart AF. And at 50 years old watching your videos is what helped to make me realize that, after my husband left and I found myself in a home alone, home repair and building is not something I can’t do because I don’t have a man around anymore. I channel you every time something needs fixing.

I’m not a professional organizer, but I completely agree.
The open shelves in the kitchen are a nay from me, though. I think the natural wood would make it too busy in the blue kitchen, especially considering that open shelves always look very busy/messy by design.

Brilliant! Nothing worse than shoes killing you all day. When I was young back in England - the 60s - the largest shoes you could buy in the current styles, think stiletto heels and pointed toes, were always too tight for me. I have long thin feet and I could tolerate the pointed toes but I'd get blistered heels. And I broke several stiletto heels and nearly my neck too. Then the 70s, big chunky heels and blocky toes. I thought my feet looked like Olive Oyl's and I clumped around hating them. Here in Canada I found department stores that had nice shoes in bigger sizes as well as in shoe shops, and it was such bliss to wear comfy shoes that didn't hurt nor make my feet look like gumboots. It's your wedding. Look beautiful but be comfortable, your memories will be sweeter. 😉 My wedding shoes were so simple and fit me and I loved them. My dog ate them though 3 months later. He was a puppy so I forgave him but I loved those shoes. 😊
Congratulations Danie, best wishes for a lovely day for you two. 😘

Congratulations on your wedding!!! I think you should choose the shoe based on how tall you want to look when you’re walking down the aisle and how comfortable they feel. I think it would be amazing if you jeweled your converse shoes so they look like bridal converse shoes. And that could be a great and fun video too!!!

At the end of a project, you feel super accomplished, then you see someone do it "better", and you begin to doubt yourself. It's nice to know that no matter the budget, or skill level, there's someone out there that you see as "better", and they, too, feel this way! Yours is my home inspiration and am definitely jealous of the space and freedom you have 😅 but because of all the diys you do, you inspire me to uplift my home instead of feeling down about it! Danie, you friggin Rock!! Great job being aware of your thoughts and how they make you feel, and for sharing your realizations with us. This is something we all need to remind ourselves to be aware of in these social media times. You said it correctly when you said... "we are all on our own journey" and those journeys will have all begun from all kinds of different places and it is not fair to ourselves to compare our journey with anyone else's. Be your own cheerleader and praise yourself for every accomplishment and appreciate your progress and that appreciation will lead to more accomplishments. I love the door inserts!!! Danie, your thoughts about how social media can harm us and the way we should celebrate even the small things we accomplish resonates so much with what I’ve been dealing personally. I’m currently battling with depression and at times I feel like everyone’s got everything worked out and rocks being productive while I’m still at the same place, making a huuuge effort to get out of bed at days. But today I manage to go to a class I’ve been enrolled with and it felt so good! The thought of “oh I should’ve been attending more classes throughout the year so then maybe I’d be more productive” still came, but only I know what it took to even get here, all the grief I’d been dealing with, and how much it means to get that small thing done. So, thank you for sharing those fears and struggles you have so we can try and also be kinder to ourselves. You’re a blessing, thanks again!

Just remember, with celebrities and social media you are seeing "the highlight reel" ! NOT the day to day grind ! Part of what makes an influencer "work" is the 'better then real life' look !
I am hoping you have a wonderful day or evening, and congratulations on the class !
Remember, get outside, get some fresh air, move your body, maybe journal. Depression keeps us frozen in place, literally & figuratively! Oh, and try to eat well ! I know I have been lagging in that, myself, lately!

This was really satisfying to watch. Those drawer dividers are beautiful. And I would say what you're talking about is the harm that comes from negative self talk. Telling yourself what you did isn't good enough isn't just not true and comparing yourself to others. It's talking negatively about yourself. And it's toxic and we all need to be mindful of it. Saying things like "I can't believe I did that. I'm stupid" are only harming us. I've worked on this with myself for a year and it's really changed my attitude about life and boosted my confidence. I'm taking risks I never would have a year ago. I'm showing my art to strangers and I never would have been brave enough to do that before. Anyway you're incredibly talented and I love how you create things. 💖💖💖

Danie, I think it's okay to say that we all love you. Thank you so much for that video. I am struggling right now. I don't know what to do with my life and where it will take me. So thank you. Thank you for being truthful, because it helps, it helps to work and fight and it for sure makes my day better. Knowing that we all struggle, but can achieve things even if it's something small.
With lots and lots of warm hugs, Zuzanna

This was beyond relatable on so many levels. I'm a master of post-poning these kind of stuff. I just don't understand why I don't get it done straight away but it feels comforting to know I'm not alone. I've started this year decluttering and organizing stuff I've been wanting to do for a long time and it have felt so good. My mind is more calm and I feel so much lighter. Thank you for this video, it was very much needed and very much encouraging. Also, comparing myself to others on insta hit me hard and I got real emotional hearing you talk about it and how you for a second felt that your DIY inserts weren't good enough, because they turned out looking so high end! It's so hard not to compare while scrolling through instagram, so thank you for being real and for being you. You're awesome!

I like and watch your videos but have never commented. This one was so fun. Weddings, shoes, organization, fixing problems, custom builds for inserts. And shopping and picking counter tops and tile. And your idea for that top cabinet is great. Your pep talk was wonderful. The more organized you are with your kitchen, the more time you have for creative time.

It's SO sad to see joy taken away by comparison, but I think it's so important to share those moments so that we may all learn from them. Thank you for talking about it, and rest assured that those dividers are FANTASTIC.
As for tiles, I'm loving 2, maybe with 4 if you wanna do a two-tone. And yes, B for the countertop would be great.

Omg. The entire time you were building those drawer organizers, I was thinking to myself, I'm so gonna do that for my kitchen. Then you showed the final result and I was even more in love with it. How could you not feel accomplishesd after that? Even if just for a second. It's perfect. I can't wait to do it to my specs Tomorrow. From a 50 year old DIYer, you are the best.

Danie, to eliminate the banging when you close your cabinet doors, put small felt rounds in the inside of each door. I love your drawer inserts and organization! Thanks for the little pep talk at the end. I have been a bit burnt out on home decor content lately. And if I am honest it’s because I have been working incredibly long hours on my job with no time to do the pretty home stuff. Everyone has their own constraints, thanks for acknowledging that people with beautiful homes even feel this way.

It's important to tailer something to YOUR NEEDS. Not what someone else is doing. No one has time to be that Uber organized. I'm an organized person but I'm not going to let it affect my life and I'm certainly not going to let some Instagram page determine whether what I did was good enough, and neither should you. You made those drawer organizers YOURSELF!! Girl, those big box companies are paid to advertise MASS PRODUCED ITEMS. Danie, you made CUSTOM drawer organizers. It doesn't get any more bougie then that! Be proud of yourself!

Danie, I love that you are so real! It's natural to compare ourselves to others, even to be envious. But can be hard to not let that hinder or deflate us! Am I envious of your creativity and job, YES. Could I realistically do what you do, nope. So I will happily live vicariously through you! And maybe I'll send a pic of my creative weirdness!

Your drawer inserts look just so amazing! I absolutely LOVE the contrast they have with the fronts of your cupboards and drawers!!!
Thank you for your honest and motivating words about comparing one's accomplishments to those of others. Your heartfelt speech grabbed me by the heart (non-native speaker here). I don't really know how to express it but it was a very emotional moment for you; I felt that and that made it very emotional for me. It was an almost harsh contrast to your usual beloved goofing around but it was an honest part of you, as well. (Please forgive me, if I sound too sappy). Thank you so much for sharing this experience and this insight with us, it IS so important to dream AND at the same be proud of one's accomplishments however they may look. ("Don't compare yourself to others but only to your past self" is a sentiment I repeat to myself sometimes)
Thank you so much for all your hard work in educating and entertaining us with your many varied diys and also just being yourself, with all your nerdiness (I love it!), every pun (that makes me smile, chuckle and sometimes laugh out loud)! (Whenever I see your Sailor Moon mug or a piece of Star Wars merch I cannot stop myself from smiling and being proud of being a fan and proud how you show all of us that we are not alone in being in our 30ies and still loving shows and movies we grew up with.

Early in the video you talk about the stuff that you haven’t finished. I was laughing because every time I watch you and a few others, I just wish I was so motivated to get everything done ALL THE TIME. Love the vulnerability and transparency in this video. We are all have such a shared experience and always try to hide it away. And the drawer inserts are freaking incredible!
