    the gas tank on the Hawk 250 is 3.7 gallons

  • @multicyclist
    @multicyclist ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Here is what my 2017 Hawk owners manual says:
    Fuel Recommendation
    Type - Unleaded
    Octane number - 90 or above
    Unleaded fuel procedures fewer engine deposits and will extend the life of the exhaust
    system components. We suggest you use regular unleaded fuel. Be sure to only use an
    octane number of 90 or higher. Using a lower octane gasoline can cause severe damage to
    the engine. Never use stale or contaminated gasoline or an oil/gasoline mixture.
    Fuel Capacity
    Fuel tank capacity, including reserve - 14L
    Reserve capacity - 1.78L
    After using the reserve tank you should refill the gas tank immediately. Then turn the fuel
    valve to the “ON” position so you do not run out fuel in the reserve tank.
    So 3.7 gallon tank with 0.47 gallon reserve. Which means 3.23 gallons before reserve. I would imagine you could go nearly 30 miles on reserve (if you rode conservatively) before it completely runs out. When a bike does not have a fuel gauge as not all do, especially the old ones. The typical way was needing to flip it to reserve as the way to know you need gas.

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      oh wow thats way bigger than I expected the tank to actually be, I guess I still had alot more gas left in there! Good thing I calculated the mileage the way I did so it should still be pretty accurate, I know the newer hawk tanks are slightly different with but the size can't be too big of a difference

  • @alexsbikesandmotors
    @alexsbikesandmotors ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Have you checked the accuracy of the odometer? Cuz that could throw off your result. 59mpg seems kind of low to me. My ninja 250 averages 65 around town. I would expect the hawk to use less gas

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I have, had to change the settings to get my mileage and speed correct via GPS but since then it's been spot on, the hawk probably uses more gas simply because it was designed less efficiency than a ninja 250, and you're basically full throttle 80% of the time on the hawk lol

    • @alexsbikesandmotors
      @alexsbikesandmotors ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BodieMoto true. Full throttle makes a big difference. Once i rode a rebel 250 wide open on the highway for 350 miles. Averaged 45mpg lol

    • @ProDigit80
      @ProDigit80 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alexsbikesandmotors my rebel 250 wouldn't see anything below 80mpg, with a max of 120mpg on a continuous 40mph ride. I swapped out the sprockets from I believe the stock 14/33t to a 15/25t.

    What did you mean when you said you hit the pothole but the bike isn’t built like a dirt bike anymore? 🤔 Did you do another modification change? Because I ordered the Hawk and all the mods you have recommended.. 😎🤘

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      its more of a light trail bike, it looks more like a dirt bike than it actually is and I had my rear suspension set up super soft in this video which made pot holes and stuff like that really bouncy. This bike can't really compare to a true dirt bike like a yz 250 but its a great commuter that looks like a dirt bike, if you're buying this bike to hit jumps at the motorcross track then that would be very very unsafe and I don't recommend it. Thode dirt bikes are expensive but they are made to a way higher standard

    0.06 per mile that's not bad
    It's still twenty as much as if you were to ride an ebike. My ebike cost me 0.003 cents to operate.

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True but they are waaaaay to slow to ride with traffic around here, I sold my 52v x class because of that. People drive super fast around here, you'd have to have an upgraded sur ron to comfortably ride in traffic and that's barely an ebike lol that's more emoto. When you actually break down the math, it will take me at least 2 years of filling my gas tank every single month and 10s of thousands of miles to make up the price difference between a fast enough ebike to compare to this motorcycle. You really don't save much money buying an ebike because of how expensive they are to simply buy lol you can get a Hayabusa for the same price as a fully modded sur ron. If you're worried about money and buy an ebike you aren't good at math lol

    • @moremoola
      @moremoola ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BodieMoto loved your point of view. I agree that ebikes are somewhat expensive. I merely pointed out the math purely from a scientific point of view.
      Just an fyi I drive a Volvo S60 inscription model for the luxury.
      I just hate how ridiculous the gas prices get simply because of speculation.
      You can't beat the hawk DLX in price...! Good video BTW.
