Best entry bike IMO, you can get it just manifest it. R3 is boring already nvm my first bike, I’d never buy a R3 unless it’s for my gurl. Bored on my R7 but, I have learned multiple lessons on it. I’m learning and the power is decent.
Hey bro great tutorial, I’ve been riding for almost 15 years. Let me say I’m no teacher, it’s hard to explain; plus I don’t want to be feeling guilty from some newbies misinterpretation dropping his bike. You explained it perfectly. I’ve been wheeling almost as long as I’ve been riding, started on dirt bikes back when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
This is my favorite YT vid of yours so far! And I think this is the first time I’ve seen you wheelie that wasn’t a POV angle. Really good tutorial and even managed to sneak in a promo at the end 😁. Definitely down to see a part 2!
One important thing to note, is if you over grip that throttle with your wrist, meaning, if you place your wrist over the throttle with your grip angling down, and then when you try to "pop" or "pull" the bike up, your weight shifts back...guess what else will happen? Your wrist will then pull back in normal position with your grip increasing the throttle more.... You see this in nearly every amateur video where the rider gives it throttle and isn't ready for the sudden jerk while giving it more throttle because they've got flung back while still holding onto the grip on the throttle.
Once you can chase em, instead of being tempted to chase as long as possible, now youre in the phase where u want to intentionally bring them down using rear brake (this phase is longer and harder than the wheelie chase phase). I know, no cool points but its what you need to level up to ACTUAL wheelies. This Builds the muscle memory in your right foot to be able to actually use the rear brake and stay relaxed when your bring it up past BP and to understand how much pressure does what. Then combine muscle memory of the throttle with your new foot brake abilities to bring it up past BP so you can slow them down. BTW "covering the brake" is BS if you havent put in the work to use it because when you have that "oh shit" moment, and you will, Your fight or flight will kick in and your first instict will be to jump off the bike or hang on and pray the engine brake brings it down. EDIT: it's possible to bypass the rear brake learning phase if you have good throttle control and ride them out pretty decent at BP but you will be hard capped and gain false confidence and the second you give it a squirt too much gas at BP its loop city so remember to practice putting them down early on for much successs 👍
The guy isn’t telling anyone to do wheelies and be irresponsible on the road. He’s just showing people how to do them. If you weren’t curious either you wouldn’t have watched. Great video.
Great video! You forgot to mention throttle control. You dont want to bring it up and bimp the throttle like a dirtbike. Thats gonna help on looping the bike. You want to bring it up and then maintain the throttle smoothly. It in that you will find that sweet spot, The balance point. I use 2nd gear and then grab third. I can wheelie my Busa for a mile or more. I end up with speeds over 120mph. Feels fantastic ! Enjoy
You are right, that a small bike can wheelie. Back in 2003, I learned to clutch wheelie in first gear at 8000 RPMs on my small Ninja 250R to pop the front tire up at a 45 degree angle for about 10 feet. Heart racing as the jolt up was shocking each time. The landings were tough on the front tire/fork too. Not as much fun like I was expecting even with practice. I think it was stretching the heck out of my chain too, needing replacement. My interest in wheelies faded soon after, with discipline early to no longer feel the need to wheelie, even if requested by others which is often when on a sport bike. "Do a wheelie." Best to ignore them is how I feel. They won't pay for it if something goes wrong. My current Ninja 650 will sometimes slightly power wheelie from a quick take off a few inches, but that's enough for me these days. Interesting video and cool bike R7, thanks.
I’ve been riding for 30 years. The only time I ever been down was while doing a stand up wheelie. I’ve done them 1000 times before but that day I totaled my bike and damn near killed myself. Took my body 2 years to heal after that wreck. Since then I haven’t done one 🤣💯
Guys I just wanna point this out quickly, Im a new rider I have been riding for 3 months only and Im practicing wheelies every single day. Long story short ; THE WAY YOU SIT on your bike is a game changer !!! If you are having issues or if you are "stagging" with your progress, try different seating position, it will increase your skills I promise !! Anyway, great video !!! Loved it !! Keep it up homie !!
Great video ! Better than any other I’ve watched. Only thing your forgot to mention (I think) is to keep the handlebar straight when landing the front wheel. It’s as important as covering the rear brake.
Man I've always wanted to ride wheelies soooo bad... but I am too scared to dump my bike. I'll drag knee and redline in 6th but not wheelie. 😣Too ashamed to say how long I have been riding - probably longer than the age of most people who are watching - and I still cant work up the nerve to learn to wheelie.🤦♀ I suppose everything can be fixed or replaced but maybe I should just get a 'practice' bike. Thanks for posting this, I am going to try your method! 🤙
Get a mondial drift l or smt if you have that specific model. People do sick wheelies even with a person at the backseat in here. It seems cool as fuck and I wanna give it a try after I sell my scooter but scooter is so good so far
most wheelie videos have super short instructions, then the rest of the video is them just doing endless wheelies. so THANK YOU for being super in depth and taking the time to explain the wheelie process, it helps a lot man!
Ugh. That must have absolutely sucked. I feel for you, and your new bike. Must have been a very “uncomfortable “ experience as you had to pick up your bike, collect the pieces, while drivers were slowly passing you at the intersection. But hey, that’s a memory you’ll have for the rest of your life. Ha ha. Anyway, no risk…no reward, right?
Really easy on torquey bikes too had a neighbor blare his harley every night waking my newborn up at night finally after about 5 days straight and all hours of the night i popped on his culdesac with a muffler delete on the Z1k he never did it again after that
Get a dirt cheap bike to learn how to wheelie cause you WILL drop it and be sure you're good to fukkin up a bike cause the likelihood is 80% or better that you can cause damage that would be expensive to fix. Try a Grom or a Dirt Bike and wheelie practice on SOFT surfaces so when you drop it you won't damage it too bad hopefully. When You wanna step up to clutch up's be good at doing power up's first.

I've ridden sports bikes for 4 decades, own a CBR FireBlade RRW and take it to track days. My advice to any rider is: It has two wheels for a good reason and keep them both glued to the road. Pulling wheelies will reck head stock bearings, fork internals and seals,
I understand this is meant to teach new riders some fun wheelie basics. But you completely missed a few major steps in learning to actually wheelie and people will get hurt if they just follow this. 1. Don't chase the wheelie when your learning. Clutch up and hit that rear brake to come back down. Slowly get higher using that until you can hit balance point. Then go for distance. Otherwise you're going to get confident chasing. Hit bp showing off your lack of skills to friends that dont know better and take a trip to loop city. 2 chopping that throttle when you pull up your wheelie. Don't. You want to be smooth and consistent. Chopping throttle can easily lead to a whisky throttle situation and thats not ideal.
My tip is DON’T do wheelies on road bikes. You can damage your fork seals. You can crash your bike. You can injure yourself or others. You can make yourself look stupid as you pick up the bits of bike scattered over the road. Here in the U.K. you can also lose your license for dangerous driving. Just ride safely and if you can’t, just don’t ride.
for every master there's one fallen hero! wheelies are for offroad.. Yamaha 250 dual sport can fall over 20 times without braking. I tried with my T7 but I'm too old to get the hang of it l guess 😉
Guys please try on a small bike like a honda grom or a dirt bike, don't skuff up your expensive bike as well it would be much easier for you to learn and much safer
With my gsxr 750 I would bounce the front end, while hitting the throttle when it bounced back up. It would lift on power alone, but it was at decent speed.
on a 1000rr just hit the gas and you're up in the air lol... make sure to cover the rear brake... and be prepared to change fork seals every 2 weeks lol
This definately something that helps start doin wheelies. What you could involve is what you should do with your knees. I'd be curious if you use the legs to keep you on the bike, or you only rely on the butt. I'd guess like in most situations the hands should be relaxed. Learned to do wheelies on my push bike, then a dirt bike and then a road bike. If you can't can't do low speed turns and figure 8s then lern to do that first. When the front wheel comes down and your learning, you need to know how to control the bike once it comes down.
Ive been trying to learn on my GSXR 600 for a few days, this video I think will help me because I was trying to release clutch too slow, and I like how you said to rev to a certain spot/rpm range and dump clutch. I have been practicing mostly first gear because it comes up so quick and I couldnt get wheel up in 2nd but I think with your tips I will. Gonna go out tonight or tmrw and practice.
seems legit. I been riding for just under a year, and finally feeling brave enough after daily commuting to attempt a wheelie in good weather. I like your explanation, I just need an empty space to attempt now. (alone is good advice too)
Back in high school early ‘70’s a guy had a new Honda CL 350. During lunch break he’d often wheelie the whole length if the parking lot. A good 100ft or more. How no one got hurt is beyond me.
Once you get it high to balance point and you're still chasing it you have to go back past balance as fast as possible so you don't run out of rpm, hit the brake but don't let it go forward too much in front of balance point to slow them down you're basically rocking from behind balance point to just at balance point and then back behind it.
I found that lowering the rear tyre pressure really helped with stability and control....drop it to 20psi roughly and until you work it out, that soft rear tyre really helped me.
Best tip don't look at what your hands are you will be catch off guard just operate as riding normally but just focus in your mind what d bike is actually gonna do.
Also never do a wheelie because someone on the side of the road is asking you to. Only do wheelies when you feel the place and time is right. After all it's your bike and not theirs. I had a guy asked me to do a wheelie once and I said okay give me 20 bucks obviously he didn't pay up so no wheelie for him ahahaha
I just died after watching this video and tried to do this easy wheelie, it was so easy i lost my legs 9n the light pole then slid under the 18 wheeler where i finally got my head rolled over, but dont worry only the first 4 wheels of the truck rolled over my head before i was officially dead. GREAT video
best tutorial I've seen yet - I can scrape the pegs, but have yet to pull a sustained wheelie - now I'm going to give it another shot, rev to rmps, pop, pull (covering back breaks the entire time :)
Drop clutch in first when the bike is at balance point let go of the gas and immediately shift into second and open the throttle the bike should be back at balance point and just ride it for a half mile.
Instructions unclear: tried disassembling my couch while in first gear-could not shift into second easily as a result, I opened my throttle body up at balance point&was not able to go for half a mile.
Clutch dump wheelies are the most dangerous - Yes if well practiced you can pretty much nail them, but the margin for error and looping it is way wider

He's right. The three step process becomes natural instinct after awhile. Just always respect the bike's power and modulate.

I found that lowering the rear tyre pressure really helped with stability and control....drop it to 20psi roughly and until you work it out, that soft rear tyre really helped me.
should i turn off traction control?
Thanks been riding for years but never wheelied .This has been been great video to understand the basics and to maybe try itva bit.
my anxiety as I simulate this in my head: 📈 📈 📈
Best tip don't look at what your hands are you will be catch off guard just operate as riding normally but just focus in your mind what d bike is actually gonna do.
That's a killer paint job
Yes sir! Best of luck
Go watch Brian636 tutorials.
😂 yo I saw you the whole summer from my balcony at those apartments doing wheelies in the parking lot and on that stretch of road by the school
No you didn't...
Yo this vid was taken at my old high school lmao. Instant sub
That purple and black color is sick.
Dude its 2 am , fuck it , im trying
Sometimes you just gotta take a deep breath and say, FUCK IT 🍻😎
And he was never ever seen again
Drop clutch in first when the bike is at balance point let go of the gas and immediately shift into second and open the throttle the bike should be back at balance point and just ride it for a half mile.
Instructions unclear: tried disassembling my couch while in first gear-could not shift into second easily as a result, I opened my throttle body up at balance point&was not able to go for half a mile.
@@QHalvorson 🤣
very good tutorial (i dont have a bike)
How do you know it's a good tutorial if it didn't work for you?
Best way to start learning to wheelie is on a BICYCLE
Hey! Nice work helping that little bug out 👏 I'm subscribing just for that!
I can get it up but my girlfriend says I need to try harder to go farther.
was she talking about bikes or sum else??? 😭
Clutch dump wheelies are the most dangerous - Yes if well practiced you can pretty much nail them, but the margin for error and looping it is way wider
Are you saying I shouldn't try to wheelie after two riding sessions? 🙄
Exactly LOL
Do it
