    that is the most true statement ever. riding a slow bike fast is much more fun then riding a fast bike slow. my absolute favorite bike to ride in the whole world is a kawasaki ninja 250. i collect them. they are without a doubt the perfect motorcycle. they are full sized, they can go 100mph for the highway needs, and they look incredible. also the best mpg you can find on a sport bike. there is no reason to ride a bike at insane speeds and risk lives.

    When my hawk breaks down it is easier to fix because I’ve tinkered with it and know the bike. I can get parts from China DIRT CHEAP and do the work myself. When my KTM breaks down I’m not messing with it. I have to make an appointment at KTM and they wait for parts to be shipped. After 100 dollars per hour labor, I’m broke. Also, try picking up a BMW 1200 off road and 40 miles from help. It’s great off road but I cringe if I have to go over 60 MPH. I live at elevation so the EFI version is for me. Pay the extra 200 dollars and get the DLX. For the price of a DRZ 400 you can get 2 Hawk EFI and a small trailer to get to off road venues. The reason I ride dual sports over dirt bikes is National Parks won’t let you ride non plated bike off road

    I've always wanted a motorcycle. I rode dirtbikes as a kid. Now with gas the way it is, I'm having to get a motorcycle out of necessity instead of want. Because of this, I don't have the money saved up to treat myself to a nicer bike. This is going to be perfect for me.

      You got it exactly right man! Be sure to weigh your options and don't get something too tall for your height. If mpg is your focus I would stick with a fuel injected bike, but even a carved 250 should get you around 70 or 80 mpg.

      @vractivracti7525 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know it’s been a while since you commented but I figure I might as well reply. Oil is recommended to be changed before running at all. The oil that they use is practically vegetable oil, so you gotta replace it immediately. The manufacturers recommend 10-30 or 10-40 standard. They also recommend to replace the spark plugs, and I think Bodie actually mentions which NGK ones specifically to use in another video.

    Hi bodie! Awesome video! I'm about to purchase a hawk 250 myself, but I had some questions if you don't mind answering. So, I am going to install the nibbi carb, the sprockets and the digital speedo almost right away, but I'm curious on if I have to break everything in stock, or can i just go ahead with the aftermarket installs right after the bike is out of the box and being assembled. I want to avoid having to take the bike apart again if i dont have to, and the forums ive went to seem to just be super opinionated and not much help 😅. I really love your setup and everything looks awesome. Please let me know if possible!
    Also, did you end up re-jetting the carb? I've seen people just put em on right out of the box but im not too sure i wanna do that 😂 I live in the southeastern michigan area so my altitude is pretty low, being around 750ft. Not sure if that matters. And did you do the CAI setup for the nibbi carb or use the stock airbox. Thanks!

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      go ahead and do those mods right away! Just dont go tooo hard on the engine for the first like 1k miles then after that let her rip. Just make sure you Loctite all the bolts and be careful to do all the important stuff right. And as for jetting I'm using whatever came stock in my nibbi carb, I didn't even open it up! I have links to all the stuff in my description if you want to make sure it will all fit (don't forget the gaskets for the exhaust, and they take some elbow crease to install) Have fun out there and be safe!!

      @@BodieMoto Awesome! thankyou! And yep I've been doing research and have all of that in my cart ready to purchase! But did you go with the cold air intake setup for the carb, or use the stock airbox? Im assuming by doing the CAI method youd have to re-jet the carb but I could be wrong

      @@BodieMoto Yeah i noticed that, but I think id rather do your setup if im being honest. So many people in the forums and on youtube have so many different setups but I like what you did. For now, I think im going to just do the sprockets, carb, and the digital speedo. I think the stock chain should be okay starting out right? Or should i change that out too?
      Also whats your height/weight if you dont mind me asking? Im pretty small, being 5'6" and weighing 137lbs.... I worry that I wont be able to really touch the ground too much, once on the bike. I plan on taking trips with my girlfriend too and dont want to tip the bike or anything with her on it.

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DiMarcoMedia I would switch out the chain after a few hundred miles max, not worth that thing failing on you and chains are pretty cheap. If you're doing a sprocket upgrade might as well do the chain with it. And it's a super tall bike honestly, I'm just barely 6 feet tall with shortish legs and I can't even flat foot in with a shorter rear shock lol So you're gonna be on 1 foot when stopped most of the time. I personally wouldn't ride with someone on the back but these bikes are made for third world countries where entire families pile onto the back so it for sure can handle it. Just be ULTRA careful, riding with someone on the back changes so much about how a bike handles, its worth watching a bunch of videos on this topic alone!! I don't have the balls to do it lol

      Just chiming in to share what I've read. I have been looking at the forums and comments on this bike for a few months now. From what I have seen and read it seems like light off road riding might hold up, but the experienced hawk owners don't recommend much more than a dirt road or smooth trail due to it being a cheaper made bike and the possibility of damage to the shocks. If you plan on going over rough terrain, tree roots, dirt jumps, etc then I would suggest buying a used dirt bike VS the Hawk. Just my opinion. Have fun!

No going over the line. Driving straight down the road for a 1000 miles doesn't increase ones motorcycle riding and maneuverability skills. Maybe it helps with your shifting skills.

    What would be the top speed since I am a lightweight?

    • @Patrick.Erb.Home.Inspection

      Stick about 60ish...but you are running 8k rpm to do it. Upgrade the sprockets to 17 /45 for 70 mph at 6.5k rpm.. nicer ride
