  • AMAZON Hawk 250 Sprocket and Chain UPGRADE | Higher TOP SPEED! Changing the front sprocket (15 to 17), rear sprocket (50 to 45) and upgrading the chain (428). This upgrade has made this bike the ultimate commuter bike! The bike isn't screaming at 55mph anymore!
    ****** I have the wrong sprockets mentioned when doing the tests (It says 17 when it should say 15 for the first and it says 15 when it should say 17 for the upgrade test)

    I almost bought one of these on black friday, $1800 delivered. Another caught my eye, the Templar. I watched engine swaps to the 6sp counterbalance engine, so I looked closer at the Templar. I wanted the green of the Hawk, but for a few more bucks there is the engine upgrade and a hp upgrade as well. Suspension is multi adjustable to.
    After assembly, no vibration and crisp shifts. I cruised it around 100 miles and now I'm pushing it a little. 50@ 5500rpm, shot it to 70 for a second @ 8000rpm. Redline is 10,000, haven't pushed that hard, but smooth and torquey. I'm glad I went with the Templar, no upgrades needed, 249 cc, overhead cam(no pushrods), bigger carb to. Worth looking into!

      Not sure, I have a 32" inseam, and I climb on with the kickstand down. I softened the suspension so I can reach the ground sitting on the seat.
      Got the carb tuned and the rapid backfire is gone. Works great for me.

    Looks the same as my bike. You can fit a 19T up front if you want to grind down some sprocket cover,

      I changed the front sprocket to a 17 tooth, the rear sprocket to a 45 tooth and installed a new chain. Got me a higher top speed. An exhaust, different air filter or pod filter and some carb tuning would get you a few more mph.

    • @Ryan-pd6uw
      @Ryan-pd6uw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The very first change I would make would be a carb and re-jetting. Bike just runs too lean and it can be done for 40 bucks or less (carb and jet kit), after that, I change the sprockets just like Typo. 17 front, 45 rear. The sprockets will give you the best speed increase of the mods.

      I have the fuel injected model and I love it. but I also have a tbr7 and a magician and I really love how easy it is to give them a performance boost just by changing the jetting in the carbs. and any modifications you do to the type you can easily re-jet the carb to accommodate that change, without having to get an ECU flash. Honestly, cases could be made for both sides of that, so it's whichever spectrum you fall on ya know. That being said, the only mod I did the on the fuel injected Hawk, was the sprocket change, and left everything else alone, and it's wonderful, just like that. But the tbr7, I've done all kinds of things to.

    • @natvega1
      @natvega1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For some reason youtube and Amazon doesn't like my explination and they delete it, the final drive ratio depends on your weight, if you are heavy a 2.0 final drive ratio isn't for you because you will put too much stress on your bearings, your crank shaft will damage fast, with a 2.0 FDR you can get up to 80mph but only if you are light weight under 140lbs and you must be an experienced rider because this bike is rated for 80KM/H wich means that at 80MPH the bike will be unstable because its too light and the wind will toss you away on the highway, so if you weigh more then 140lbs leave it at 17t front and 46t rear and dont ride it for more then 40min or your oil will exceed 265°F because the rpms are too high for a push rod motor, a push rod motor is good for high torque low speed, mine has a fan asisted oil cooler and with a 2.0FDR my oil stays at 190°F all day riding in hot south heat. 65ml oil cooler 4" manuel operated fan.

      Yeah I'm not looking to go much faster than I was. I just wanted it to be smoother around 50-55mph. I agree, these bikes are not meant to go very fast on.

      A few mph on pavement isnt gonna hurt anything at all...its a dual sport. Its off road capable. Which is much harder on everything than the pavement lol

    • @TyposGarage
      @TyposGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tested that yet. I need to get it dialed in before I do that. If I had to guess with the new setup, probably 60 to 80mpg. Maybe better.

    All you have to do is put different jets in the carb im still on the stock sprockets and mine will run 75 80

    • @TyposGarage

      These gauge clusters are known to be pretty off speed wise. I really don't think 80 is possible based on the stock gearing and sprocket.
