    So happy to see these again. I have missed them. For a couple of reasons, I have not been able to paint, so this really satisfies the need. And I always learn so much from you. Thank you, Lisa.

    Love your videos on cold wax and the different techniques and colors you use. That asphaltum is gorgeous! I have a question for you. Do you use other materials as sand or limestone for texture? Thanks for all your help and time educating us

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! I do sometimes use marble dust or sand for added texture. I also build texture with the paint and cold wax, stencils and just adding more layers! 🎨

    They look great and and so fun to try. What was that in the bottle you sprayed on to create texture? Also did you mix any cold wax medium on the paints you initially put out or just oil paints straight out of tubes? Thank you for this video!

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Linda, Thank you! I use Gamsol (by Gamblin)-odorless mineral spirits-to lift the top layer of paint to the underlying layer of color. I use a 50:50 ratio of cold wax medium to oil paint. All my color is mixed with this ratio on my palette- before I begin painting. This way you don't forget to add the cold wax!

    Thank you so much for sharing your expertise x I am completely new to cold wax and may I ask one question? At the beginning, when you added the clear wax (as a protective layer) and then the Indian Yellow, followed on by other layers - do you leave the wax to dry each time?
    I've only tried cold wax once and had no idea what I was doing and ended up digging and scraping every layer until I ended up with mud and revolting lines which looked like the inside of a seaside stick of rock lol! (will not try and repeat that again).

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Robert, I build the layers of oil paint, mixed with a 50:50 ratio of cold wax medium- in all layers. I usually do not let each layer dry completely, but you can allow them to "set-up", between layers for about 20-30 minutes, that way you can add new layers without a lot of blending or layers getting too muddy. This medium has a definite learning curve as too how soon to add more layers and in what stage-too dry or too wet- to paint the next layer.. Best advice is to just play and experiment and be open to how the painting changes between each stage!

      @@LisaBBoardwine Thank you for replying, it is much appreciated. May I ask one more question:- the cold wax is rather thick, and when mixed with the oil paint stays rather thick and not 'fast moving' and runny as seen in video's. How do you thin the wax down?
      Thank you for sharing your video's and knowledge.

      Thank you for watching my channel! And thanks for your kind words! I do use the Messermeister scraper a lot! It is a kitchen tool for bowl scraping! It is in my Amazon Storefront under Must Have Supplies for Oil/Cold Wax . It may be out of stock at present time. So keep checking back. A good substitute is to use a Creative Catalyst wedge #6. Or the color shapers- these are also on my storefront under the same category. Thanks again for watching!
