Oh gosh, had forgotten that my grandparents had tooth powder in their cabinet. 😮 When at their farm, they washed their socks in evening & slipped them on wooden sock forms to dry. I have a set of the wooden drying forns. I have them on our bathroom wall. Love them & the memory!
Wild George that was really fun. I really like going through these videos with you. Because I learned so much. Thank you looking for the next one.😊😊😊😊😊
I am so glad I found this video. I just passed by this antique store on I-75 going to and from NC. I wasn't sure it was even open! I definitely have to stop in when I return to NC in September. I love your videos and learn so much!
Great video George!!! The encyclopedia vintage and antique knowledge within your brain is almost humanly impossible!!! But I will take it for I have and continue to learn so much from u!!! Thank u!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
Good evening, George. Wow! Loved that Staffordshire nautical platter. That would likely tempted me beyond denying myself. The crucifix and other religious items would've had my attention. I often wondered why the cardboard advertisements weren't more sought after. I would think less of them survived than the metal ones. I liked the chenille floral artwork. There looked like a coal carving, in front of the spice rack. I have a large coal carving of a donkey pulling a cart loaded with coal, and the miner behind it. It has his lunch pail in the cart, too. I really liked the walnut etagere, and I'm needing some shelving right now.. Did you have space to put the barrister bookcase? That was a really good deal on it. There were several items there that really caught my interest. Thanks for taking us along!
Hi there! I'm finally reaching back in time for lost comments, but I remember this video well and I did like the nautical platter quite a lot. I do notice crucifixes everywhere I see them, families don't give them up too often so they catch my eye when they hit a vintage store. I do like coal carvings, they naturally sell well in Kentucky. Etageres are a favorite of mine, you have to check rigidity but they're so often a great way to use a forgotten corner! I wish I could find another barrister bookcase now. Great to see you in the comments!
23:29 THE LAMPS! I do like the MCM ones, but I just commented on your Florida booth refresh video (Andrea & Friends) that I recently bought one of those antique slag-glass lamps with the metalwork for my birthday. It's SO lovely. The scrollwork on mine reminds me of bats. And the warm, glowy light it gives off...divine.
I completely agree with the high lighter thing. I have always thought about what you said. But I am retired law enforcement, so my mind still tries to stay a step ahead of the bad guys. 😊 I had a custom, self inking stamp made with my business name on it and 50% off when I’m ready to move merchandise.
I love all the things! And your commentary that I learn so much from! I have to say, Wyland is my favorite contemporary artist. I love his underwater seascapes even more than his sculptures. (I have tried my hand at painting after his style and was fairly happy with one I did, meeting a dolphin underwater. For just my own enjoyment of course.)
I found a Huichol Turtle for $20 the day I meet you at Lander St Vintage!! Looks great next to my copper plate 😉. I love that Blue Ridge pottery!! Will def be on the lookout for that!
Some TRY to sound smart but you ARE! Just rattle off terms and facts, years, companies its so fascinating your brilliance. I hope I can retain tid bits when buying things but there's so much to know! Thanks for your store tours. Sometimes I see things I once had. :)...had to edit here! I saw 4 diff things in this video I have. One being the glass owl..which me not being super wise on antiques was out in my garden! Has now come in:) lol
I have a pachinko machine that my grandpa bought me when I was 3 in the 70’s. Montgomery Ward used to import them and sell them via their catalogs. I love it but have to admit it was a bizarre gift for a little kid. 😂
Hi, George, I just started reselling last September. I learned so much watching your videos. I like hearing the history of an item. Just subscribed to your channel today.😊😊😊
22:35 I remember those things, years on. How to feel old: see things you remember being around as a kid now sold as antiques. Then again they're collecting Garbage Pail Kids and My Little Pony, so there's a lot of it going around.
My mom had that chess set from Mexico in the 70's in blue and white onyx when I was growing up. I only have a few pieces left now - pieces broke and she threw it away one day and as a very enamored 8 year old boy I grabbed some of the pieces and kept them without her knowing. 😂 Not worth anything by themselves, but I have the memories. And wish I still had the full set! 🙄😔
We had one too! I wish we'd kept it. Glad you grabbed a few pieces, often there's missing or broken pieces in sets so maybe you can fill out one for a good price
I love your videos! The silver plated kissing fairies is not a cigarette holder, but is a powder/blush compact from Kerkoff in the mid 1920s. I just snagged my first one in March at an online auction for $36.00! Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge with us! (Also, I just rented my first booth after selling on eBay for about a year. Are there any unwritten rules regarding pricing for a booth vs eBay? Would you steer me to a guidebook like site or publication? Please? Thank you for even reading my comment.)
George has done videos on selling on ebay . Do u know how to access his past videos ?i cant answer tho because i tried resell abt 2 weeks this winter and found its not simple ! And the free sites around here are stalked by vultures ! I really wanted to do local so i didnt need to ship ! I have 3 bathing suits i wanna try selling and hopefully they sell cause dumb if i have to donate back to thrift !
Oh thank you! And thank you for explaining the powder/blush compact, I didn't recognize it correctly. You got a great deal! Unless you have really scarce/valuable things in your mall space, I would honestly consider pricing for a booth at your eBay selling price PLUS the shipping cost, if you are able. That way, the "I could get it for less online" argument is gone, but adding in the shipping cost means an item you'd get $20 + shipping for on eBay might be $30-35 in a mall...customer is paying the same either place.
Hi George, I have inherited an old pawn squash blossom necklace with a lot of turquoise in it. It is so heavy I will never wear it. Where do I go to get it appraised
That's cool! You'll want to find a jeweler knowledgable in the types of turquoise to determine if it's from a mine that isn't producing anymore. I might be able to help you, send an email to theantiquenomad@gmail.com and I'll look
Can anyone point me towards a sight like a worthpoint for a few items I can’t find through google? I don’t sell enough yet to be able to afford a membership. For now I’m just hanging on to the items that may have more value until I get started on eBay to try to auction them. Right now I’m only selling on Etsy but I hope to be starting eBay soon.
You're right about that when I look at them more closely! --but they euphemistically seem to fall under the "Bluebird China" categories when I see them list online or in old price guides
Matchbox story I never heard of before. Learn something new everyday.
Oh that's neat!
I remember the tooth powder too & then when they had toothpaste it was that minty gritty stuff that I can’t remember the name of.
Trina, u are absolutely right, I remember gritty stuff too. Glad u added, I had forgotten! Thanks ❤
My grandma used tooth powder, too.
I remember my grandparents had that too
Wild George that was really fun. I really like going through these videos with you. Because I learned so much. Thank you looking for the next one.😊😊😊😊😊
Another great video George - thanks for sharing.
you blow me away. soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much knowledge!!!
I'm happy to share!
Love the Antique Nomad!
Aww thanks!

Have you been interested in Antiques your entire life? You're incredibly knowledgeable!
I sure enjoy them, and even as a kid I was a natural born collector
I am so glad I found this video. I just passed by this antique store on I-75 going to and from NC. I wasn't sure it was even open! I definitely have to stop in when I return to NC in September. I love your videos and learn so much!

My husband and I went there once. Fun place. I didn’t have a lot of time and need to stop again.
I want to go back too!
What an amazing selection of quality items. Thanks so much for this video!
You are so welcome! Different than the usual
Thanks George. I learn so much on each video!
Great Vintage items! Always learn something!
Thank you!
Watching from England
Wonderful! We find some really great English pieces in the states sometimes, I'll try to highlight them as I see them
This has to be the most relaxing preview for a video.
I would have definitely purchased the Victorian Chenille wall art. It was stunning! The lap quilt was gorgeous.
Fun tour, great stuff! I also love enamel on copper... I have a small collection, but surely try to pick it up whenever I see it ;)
I love enamel on copper! I have a friend who really likes it and we look for it when we go out
Thank you , George !
Very nice time!
"And look how easy it is to tote around in your A-line dress". George, your funniest when you're not even trying!!! Love you much!! 😂
:)
Great video George!!! The encyclopedia vintage and antique knowledge within your brain is almost humanly impossible!!! But I will take it for I have and continue to learn so much from u!!! Thank u!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
Have fun and we'll share more! Thank you
George, my mother had that set of yellow and white canisters when I was a child. I don’t remember the bread box and recipe holder though. ❤
You don't see those as much

How cool that you got the lamp! I really am fond of them.
6:42 love the cypress piece lamp. ❤
I'm a huge fan
What a wonderful antique store so many beautiful pieces. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Wow, Great items on those shelves!
Thanks George what a great out of the way place! ❤❤❤😊
Whoa the hair on the rocking horse!
Great video George!

Smart!
Learning so much from you and your videos. You're so knowledgeable. My goal is to be you one day. 😂😂
I will share my brain with you!

(I have tried my hand at painting after his style and was fairly happy with one I did, meeting a dolphin underwater. For just my own enjoyment of course.)
I really like Wyland too! I think it's great that you paint and that you were inspired, I do not have that skill
I found a Huichol Turtle for $20 the day I meet you at Lander St Vintage!! Looks great next to my copper plate 😉. I love that Blue Ridge pottery!! Will def be on the lookout for that!

@@TheAntiqueNomad You're so fun to shop along with in the videos! Merry Christmas to you🎄🎄🎄🎀

It's interesting that Montgomery Wards sold those! My friend's dad brought them back with them from Japan, we were mystified by them

No kidding! Lol. I suffer from that too

Hello, I love the Raku pottery pieces. But I believe it is pronounced Răku. At least that’s we pronounced it in art school. 🤷🏼♀️
You are probably right, it is a Japanese word in origin
I knew you could find a buyer for those earrings! Cool!
Did anyone recognize the family in the portraits, if you displayed them?
I didn't have any look with that family i.d.! Glad the earrings sold.
✨💖✨
We go there once a year and they had a seller in there with great MCM lamps. Wonder if he is still selling there?
They did when I was there!

You did not say anything about the big Asian dragon at the beginning of the film. Such a beautiful piece of art.
Great video!!! Thanks
It really was! I didn't know enough about it to speak intelligently, but had to show it anyhow

I dont EVER wanna drive on i75 ever again !! Once was enough for me 😫
It can be awful! You have to hit it just right
What time of year was this George?
This was early spring
😊❤😊
George, I’m just curious I thought the rocking horse said $2395 but you said a good price was 395 so I’m confused?
You are correct, I must have misspoken! I think I was thinking about another piece!
Hello
Can anyone point me towards a sight like a worthpoint for a few items I can’t find through google? I don’t sell enough yet to be able to afford a membership. For now I’m just hanging on to the items that may have more value until I get started on eBay to try to auction them. Right now I’m only selling on Etsy but I hope to be starting eBay soon.
If you're going to sell on eBay, I'd use their completed sales button and make that your shopping guide
I'm a day tripper
✨❤️🧡💛💚💙💜✨
"cute" to describe a $2,000 lamp!!!!
😂 😅 😂
I really liked that one. A bit beyond my reach, though.
Those don't look like bluebirds. They look like barn swallows.
That is the pattern name, although I agree with you, they looked more like swallows than blue birds.🐦
You're right about that when I look at them more closely! --but they euphemistically seem to fall under the "Bluebird China" categories when I see them list online or in old price guides
George they now make new boxes for matchbox cars so buyer beware
Good to know, I heard that lately too.
Smoke feeling good? Gross.
Well, it was a different time and people were lead to believe it I guess
Not to be rude ... But one day soon ENUF those metal signs
Agreed!
