- On a loud and busy old Cincinnati road, we've converged on Grand Antique Mall--Jocelyn @CrazyLampLady , Sandy @myflippingvanlife4437 and me! We're here to shop, have fun and find trends in things our esteemed collectors want!
The first thing we discover is a case of sale priced, big and interesting Haeger pottery and other MCM ceramics! I go first, picking every sea critter shape from the cases. Jocelyn and Sandy discover a wealth of other cool MCM pottery designs in the same case bank, and we're all showing each other things we think the other would like! A large pile goes up to the desk, and we make note that pottery is a trending antique and vintage category that attracts us as resellers.
We've not even left the cases when Jocelyn finds her first of another trending category, 1920s-30s Czech spatter glass. She picks a nice dresser jar from a case, and Sandy and I both make an effort to help her find more along the way. At the same time, we peruse a whole range of high quality antique and vintage goods here, from stalwart furniture (modernist, antique and period) to delicate costume jewelry, French militaria, Rookwood pottery, Lladro porcelain...so much more, too!
We all end up with some nice buys out of this place! A good number of them are packed to debut at the Rose City Vintage Market in mid-July.

As always, very informative, love that you take time to do that! Appreciate It!
Thank you so much!
I had to take pottery in art school, learn to throw on a wheel. Learn the prep for glazes. I am so fortunate that I had that experience because it has made me appreciate all these pottery companies, glaze techniques and the decoration, kinds of clay, etc..
I really want to try my hand at it, I did one piece in 5th grade and it's a lot harder than it looks!
Nomad supporters show some love by Sharing his video 🎉
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
So if uranium was used in the glass making, is it safe to own now?(this might be a dumb question )
If you don’t know then you don’t know…I wonder that too! I assume it’s ok for food use as no one has ever mentioned that but on the other hand, no one has said it is not ok for food use.
Like your voice as is....very distinctive and recognizable
895.00 for that lamp it will sit there for a long time unfortunately. 100.00 maybe lol
At the beginning of the video, in the first case, the small bone carving isn’t Tokyo Tower as that is shaped like the Eiffel Tower. There is also the Sky Tree in Tokyo too but I don’t think it is either.
Is it me.. Or is your voice is very deep in the beginning. Great video George
I think so too!
In lampwork beadmaking, the glass rods achieve that plummy color by the addition of gold in the glass formula. Rubino oro is what it's called, and I think they're the most expensive - most expensive I've bought, anyway!
It's the recording speed and playback speed that is too slow making your voice lower and slower.
So many things a lot just sits on the shelves people don’t like to pay up for nice things unfortunately. Long tail sales
George Vader what have you done with George I'm calling you out😅
😂
Such a dry humor, George. French cutlery
Is the vocal speed too slow? Your voice seems very much lower than usual.
I remember doing pottery in High School! Loved it !❤
Thank you George ,you are so very much intelligent. Luv listing and learning from you.❤
Our small town Dairy Queen used to have a bison taxidermy on the wall until corporate came and stole it.
???? About a quarter the way through video or a little more your voice got very distorted. I thought it was me but asked and my husband said he noticed. Sounded muffled. I had to stop listing as it was very distracting from your awesome information. 😮I will attempt another video. Just wanted you to know. Ty for all you do.
Please do, there were issues with the microphone in that one but we fixed it in the next
Sound wasn't clear -- :(
So nice to see Sandi! I haven’t seen her in person since last year. I miss her!
What a great mall. So many beautiful things. I was wondering was the Star fish TV lamp a real star Fish? I hope not. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Want the music cabinet. Enjoyed the tour.
Thanks so much for showing the souvenir spoons and the servers. I think the pattern in the silver chest was Alhambra.
Thank you, that's helpful!
That Blue Mountain fish , is one of the ones I scored 😊. I wonder how much they wanted for it ? Around here anyways, the red glaze in Blue Mountain Pottery is the most desired . How about there ?
I like the red phone and the $8000 table. Good video. So many goodies. Thanks George! 😊
Things wife 😂
Why is it always about the plates and the glass? Where are the primitives?
Maybe he doesn’t chose to deal in primitives 🤷🏼♀️
Hi George. Amazing to me you can still find older items. I remember thing I like we owned, and my mom would just throw them out. She wasn't a saver. Sad to say.
Love & Blessings Always
Hi George and Xeno. Hope that you are having a nice Summer.
Oh my gosh, my mom was on the show queen for a day when she was Miss Arizona in the Miss Universe pageant. Her caretaker was Betty White. Go figure! I’ll never know what to do with all the stuff she saved from that experience.
Wow! That is so cool! I imagine that with so much interest in Betty White that there could be interest from her collectors, or beauty pageants in general...maybe Miss Universe has a museum or hall of fame?
@@TheAntiqueNomad all I have from Betty is the letter she sent. The stuff I was referring to is from that brief whirlwind of a time around the pageant. Her bathing suit, shoes, a piece of the luggage they gave her, and a ton of ephemera and pictures. She really wouldn’t share many stories about it, so I’m just left with a bunch a stuff. lol
@@vansmom123I think you should put it all together and send a photo to George. He might be able to connect you with someone who is very knowledgeable about all this.
@@vansmom123 sounds like something someone would enjoy though!
So many beautiful and fun things! I even saw a wooden handled ice cream server I have and still use from my grandmother there! I have learned so much from you explaining things I had never seen before! Thank you George! ☺❤
That's great, I'm always tickled when someone sees something they remember!
Thank u so Much, George! I am glad I was able to chat with u & the Nomad community 🎉🎉
Our pleasure!
Take care 🎉 rest up !!
Wow this mall sure has a lot to offer. Great stuff!!! I love that red Fenton with the white lacy edging. One day I will get to go there and see it too. Thank you for sharing your travels with me. Have a great day and safe travels
That was a pretty piece! Glad to take you along with us
What time zone is this video. It is well after 8:00pm EST?
It started at 8 eastern, I'm in Kentucky and set it for 7 pm central
Hi George 👋 sorry I missed your live. Dozed off loll😊
Amazing George you have so much information stored away thanks for teaching us🎉
I love that lamp on the stand with the absolute perfect shade and everything oh my goodness that is so beautiful
@16:09 I believe those are replicas after Alberto Giacometti.
Boy, your voice got so deep and manly.😂
😂 so different from that thin weed of a voice 😅
16:49
"This looks like the wife of Thing"
George, you slay me 🤣
Love everything! I want to shop somewhere I can spend the day.
I know what u mean. I think this is a place to fit that bill! 🎉
I wish! I'm in Washington State.
Ty, George!❤❤❤
Good evening, George. That carved brooch, to me, looked like a chess piece. I liked that. Loved the Fenton plum decanter and cordials. I really liked the shaving stand. The iridescent Czech vase was fantastic! I just today bought a lighted chrome and glass curio cabinet. My brother found it in a thrift shop, in North Carolina. It'll be great for some of my beverage sets. When he comes back again, he'll bring it with him. There were a lot of really nice and interesting items there...some of the prices were a bit eye-watering...but really nice to see everything. Thanks for taking us along!
Fenton plum is so deep and rich, I forget that it isn't an older color by their standards (30 years old as opposed to 60). The shaving stand spoke to me as well, I like bejeweled dresser piece a lot! That cabinet sounds like a great addition, I like them because you can display in tiers and show the sets all together. The prices were high on a few really good items, I am suspicious of the $8000 desk though
@@TheAntiqueNomad The Fenton plum set would look really good in my beverage sets collection...if I had space for another set. Having 62 beverage sets does require a lot of real estate to display them.
My brother found the curio cabinet at a Goodwill. I got, I think, a really good deal on it. The back is a mirror, as is the bottom, with four glass shelves, and it is lighted. It'll be sometime this Autumn when he comes back, so I have a while to wait on it.
Yeah, the $8000 desk...they need to buy that one an engagement ring 😂
@@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS Lol I love that expression about the engagement ring, please allow me to steal! That will be a nice display, I knew you had a lot of sets and it's fun to show them off
wow thats the most plum fenton I ever saw in one place.
I have pottery I have been saving.
I feel like it's making a comeback
❤❤🎉🎉😂😂😢😢❤❤
Beautiful basket!
I liked that one too
I love pottery
I do too and feel like it's coming back with collectors
Me, too! I collect David Enna pottery. He’s a local (to me) potter from Rhododendron, Oregon. 😊
@@LindaKayHolevas Neat! I'll look for his stuff
@@TheAntiqueNomad - Thank you, George! It’s difficult to find. I collect primarily his mountain scene pottery. I looked to see if you had an email address so I could send you some pictures, but I am not seeing one. I am sure, however, you know how to find what I am talking about, lol.
@@LindaKayHolevas theantiquenomad@gmail.com
Bischoff is nice glass.
Yes, good quality like the other West Virginia blown glass makers!
11:13 so pretty
✨❤️🧡💛💚💙💜✨
Certainty is a French design on that 'English ' two person desk 😊 😅 🎉
I sure was unconvinced
Oh, u could of fooled me !
