I still remember that the renault engines were outrageously loud, and their diffuser sounded like a machine gun. You could hear them over every other car, even at the start of the race. Especially the lotus with the front exhaust. It literally destroyed everything in it's way with a sonic boom.

I was there that year and to date the last F1 race I've been to. I can't take any of it seriously anymore with what it's become. So this is a nice bit of nostalgia for how it once sounded. The cars sounded insane coming out of the second Lesmo on the run down to Ascari before braking and then getting back on throttle going through Ascari.
brilliant how each team had their own sound, sometimes it seemed as if even the individual drivers caused distinct differences that was also a feature of the v10 i considered vastly superior to the v8 sound, as every constructor could build engines with different angles and other specifications, while the v8 had to be 90°, causing the teams to be different not only in the before 2009 far less restricted body panels but also the engine note
it seems kinda dumb to me to forbid stuff that made your car extremely good. its kinda the opposite of the "F1 is the test environment for future manufacturing cars" stuff they always talk about. imo they should bring it back.
Blown diffusers, sliding skirts, low ride height, active suspension, 100% drs, no fuel flow limit, wide slicks, blown diffusers, unlimited aero, unlimited engine capacity, nitrous, turbos... You'd end up with V10 turbos with about 3000 horsepower going 340mph with enough cornering/braking g-force to kill the driver, and any high speed crash guaranteeing a fatality.

As someone once said, “Don’t be sad because it’s over, be happy because it happened.” The era of V8s, V10s, and V12s are gone and what we have now are the lovely V6Ts. Those engines deserve the same amount of love as these cars. I know they aren’t the sound that you are so used to but they still provide power and speed.

No words and today we watch the vacum cleners to run around the tracks.Imagine these beasts with the today tires and aero packages.Like bullets.No comparison .Amazing sound and engines and pure power.
The sound of the engine is half of the F1 experience and they removed it.

The era of V8s, V10s, and V12s are gone and what we have now are the lovely V6Ts. Those engines deserve the same amount of love as these cars. I know they aren’t the sound that you are so used to but they still provide power and speed.

These cars were the best. I could listen to them all day. I can not stand hearing this crap in 2019. They sound like toys.
