They had to lift the RB6's gearbox higher so it can have more air from the underfloor for the double diffuser, that's channeled the air out and exit right in front of the exhaust, accelerating the air even more and generating more downforce from the already strong double diffuser and the fast moving air also created a suction area over the exit of the normal diffuser and help suck the air out from the normal diffuser to generate even more downforce. It's a crazy car and if i'm not mistaken, 2018 was the one who can match the RB6 high speed cornering performance. your best video in the last weeks
It sucks that we can't see the precise speed, fortunately 2010 was the last year for that type of telemetry.
I love watching Seb just sends his car into corners and oftentimes wrestling with the steering wheel for corrections. For me, he's one of the fastest drivers when it comes to cornering to which Red Bull literally exploited hence their 4 year dominance
The RB6 would go Crazy in Jeddah
Incredible footage and the engine was screaming! Seb really knew how to hustle the car more than Webber back then…The bigger, heavier cars and less rear grip never suited him afterwards…But he sure knew how to throw the smaller cars around.
This is what a race car should be. Oh and have a bit quicker rotation in slow speed corners without rear end grip loss.
Adrian Newey is a legend!
would love to see a comparison with footage between this and the W11
W11 will dust it due to more power and more downforce tbh
@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 much wider tires too that contributed to it plus RB6 had no DRS and is way less powerful
@@Gavynn-zf5xqthe rb6 had the f-duct, no? So a little drs
@@Gavynn-zf5xq But they don't use the drs THROUGH the corners, so it doesn't promote the w11 any advantages in the corners!!
@vernerikerppola4438 nobody was talking in the corners. Drs makes a difference even more so coz the DRS became more powerful in the wider cars ( 2017 onwards) and the V6 Turbo Hybrids being way more powerful anyways
I loved how Vettel went out as last man standing, go aggressive, late braking, sharp turns, early onto the power again, taking kerb to kerb, having purple sectors everywhere to then crossing the line and be on pole as last man over the line. And all of this while tv commentators were screaming. The tension was always high. Ah, I used to collect all the polelaps of Vettel. He had such a way of handling the car and he was so at one with it...
this is insane
you can see him driving with one hand in some high speed turns because of the f duct
This car is just glued to the foor😂😂😂
Macchina impressionante l'RB6. Se l'avessero dotata di un sistema di scarico evoluto come la RB7 avrebbe disintegrato la resistenza fisica di parecchi piloti.
Una delle mie vetture preferite in assoluto.
Back when cars actually looked fast and sounded OMEGA SPEED.
I really wanted Fernando to get it, but man the RB6 has ended up being my favorite car of all time. Ridiculous levels of downforce.
At 3:21, the insane S. Korea turn with 4.3 G- Force,
Vettel did it with ONE HAND!
He had to activate the RB6's F-Duct system, so he did it with one hand...
Just crazy to think about...
This car should have easily won both championships. Tensions within the team, poor reliability and driver mistakes made it much more difficult, but the car was on rails.
Ahh that left hand action, gotta love a newey design ❤
So much trust on that last Abu Dhabi's sector.
Every car after that would feel like shit.
I've been watching formula 1 since 1999 (loved the yellow jordans as a child) and as watching the 2010 season I remember saying this car was a monster.
In my opinion it is a proof that Renault engine was awful, if RB had Ferrari/Mercedes engine they should be WDC/WCC around Singapore. Alonso without that much grip could handle battle to last race
No, V8 engine Was fixed😅.
Nah the Renault V8 engine was a good engine it had the best fuel economy and had the best drivability and was fantastic in its ability to be mapped for utilizing the blown diffuser perfectly
it was perfect because renault has fully supported redbull in that time
The RB6 honestly is one of the few defining cars of the V8 era. The car on fast corners was glued to the track and on slow corners quite agile.
Sebastián vettel You are a car merchant! A car merchant!
Okay so by your dumb logic - "Max Verstappen you are a car merchant! A car merchant!"
"Lewis Hamilton you are a car merchant, A car merchant!"
Awesome car. Underrated tires in 2010 as well. Those green stripes were fast.
i can feel the pressure just by watching
This noise was the best : not to lowed , not to smala, PERFECT !
No halo, no hybrid drive system, no DRS. The RB6 is probably the peak of that generation of F1 cars. I would much rather have the chance to drive this than the Mercedes W11 or Red Bull RB19.
To do that on those skinny tyres is crazy
0:30 THAT SLIDE THO
At 0:40 you can see the front wing going down as the car accelerates
Stunning
The RB6 looks like its glued to the ground on high speed corners damn
Wow! So much raw speed!
Man it's like driving on simulator ❤
What an incredible car. V8 KERS cars were lowkey underrated. wish we had them couple more years on to like 2016.
KERS wasn’t used in 2010 f1 though like on this rb6
Monstrous car through corners.
I think the most impressive part is that they made this even tho the rules that year made the tires skinnier
I've only just now noticed the change in the style of mirror on the car!
F1 as it is supposed to be TODAY AND TOMORROW
Its like he's flying the car more than he's driving it. Like the grip of the wheels is secondary. This was unique to this era.
That car was really a monster, but there's no way it had more downforce than 2017-2021 cars
300kg less weight 😂😂
@@szkworc2008 but still less downforce
@@abubakarkaila2616yes but not for the weight.
Those cars were draggy on the straights and lacked the top speed of previous and later generations
This car produced the most downforce ever till about the 2018 cars it wss a downforce monster honestly held back by a relative lack of HP from the V8 era
In 2017 cars gained much speed mainly because of wider tires.
The more I see about specs of Vettel-webber's RB, the more my respect for Fernando increases
How much of this grip is down to the tyre compounds?
A lot, pirelli sucks
@@A-BYTE64 In 2010 the tyres were still Bridgestone. But yeah, Pirelli do suck.
@apophisRO that's what he meant. The RB6 is so good partly because of the tyres. Pirelli tyres are much worse, part of why the RB7 wasn't as good.
@@A-BYTE64 Pirelli doesn't suck, FIA have wanted less robust tyres for the race to be more strategic and exciting(since Abu Dhabi 2010), DRS is also the result of that race. At least Pirelli does not threat to leave with every single issue in tyres, in competition even in world economy. If Bridgestone or Michelin were sole suppliers during the covid pandemic we wouldn't have F1 races in 2020 and 2021. 😂😂
@@sam-nariman6236DRS was planned for 2011 since around June of 2010. I don’t know why people keep thinking Abu Dhabi 2010 was the reason for DRS.
that was a delight to watch
thanks to the double diffuser and blown diffuser, this car was a monster
Yes and all the car on the grid at the time equipped those two things, just that Red Bull first developed it to perfection before others did catch up throughout the season
It was not like Merc 2020 have all the luxury to be the only one using DAS system while others simply didn't have financial budget & limit on time to copy them, given them an unfair advantages on getting into the heat of the front tyres with ease🤷♂️
Honestly the way that thing took T11-12 at Melbourne was plain dirty. No slide, no hesitation or wobble, just instant on-rails cornering
Blown diffuser is for 2011 RB7, this 2010 RB6 has the first iteration of flexible wings. And btw, there are still people who say RB didnt had the best car, by far, during 2010.
No, all of the 2010-2013 RBR cars had blown diffusers.
This was amazing!
W11 is typing...
Just a freaky car
Turn 8 at Turkey is absolutely freaking insane man.
Hear that V-10 roar 🤩
Barcelona planted on the right hander after the S is INSANE.
My favourite red bull design, loved racing with this on the F1 games even though I support Ferrari.
