thanks for this vid, now i get some 20"
20” for summer is perfectly fine
30” 👌😏
You always went for larger 👌🏻
@@vainiusk9414 😂
i’m on 20s lol 245 30 up front 275 35 back
19" with 225/35 in the uk. Our roads suck, but after doing the same routes for years you get to know where the holes / sunken drains are so you can weave with confidence 😉
😂😂I felt that comment so much know your roads and you’ll be fine
That’s true but 19s still suck for comfort compared to 18” yeah they look a little better but just get the car nice and lowered and it’ll look just as great
So you never touch roads you've never been before? Interesting.
19s are fantastic on stock suspension. Ran 275/30 +22 rears and 235/35 +20 fronts for the longest time. Bought coilovers and had to be at max height in order to not be touching the tire while idling. I’m switching to a 18x9.5 245/35 square setup from now on.
Camber
facts, same here. sitting on some 19s staggered at stock but i can already tell it’s going to be a problem lowered to i’m going to go down one in diameter
the title acts like you're talking about 19 inch wheels but really you're talking about undersized tire sidewalls for specifically your bmw...
Well his entire channel is about his e90 BWM, so .. yeah ..
I got a JNC 19" rims on my BMW X5 2001 with good tires, never had a issue with them, looks great and drives great, the problem is when you put a oversized tires on your rims
fastslash25 well said!!
@ x5s have a bit sidewall haha
Yup. Stock Camrys and Accords are fitted with 19s from the factory. They still ride comfortably though because of the suspension and the OEM tires have at least 40 series sidewalls .
This guy looks to have 30 or 35 series tires on a bmw on lowering springs (no shit it’s gonna ride harsh) lol
I’m running 235/35/19 and am super happy I went with 19”. I had 18” on my 4 series and always wish I woulda went with 19”, so that was definitely the direction I took when I got my GTI. I agree, roads def play a factor. Oklahoma roads aren’t THAT bad & I will say, I’ve had two sets of tires on the GTI & the tires make a huge difference in ride quality. I went with nankang starting out, horrible choice. Bad ride quality - felt like I was driving with cement blocks. Changed to nitto and the difference is night and day.
hola! Funny finding you here in the comments, lol
your 19s are usless shit
18s are so much better in the UK, but 19s look better
@@JoshXCVIII if BTCC nad WRC drive on 18’ ..18’s are enough ..higher than 18 is for idiots and people with no feeling pain .

440i F36 XDrive car here, on stock springs. I pick up my set of 19x8.5" ET40 front and 19x9.5" ET45 rears, with 245/40R19 and 275/35R19 tomorrow. These tires are between .5-.7" larger in diameter than stock. I also picked up a set of 5mm wheel spacers, just in case I have any clearance issues. Went with a slightly taller than stock tire combo 1) to fill in the 4x4 like wheel gaps that the XDrive cars have, 2) for a little added ground clearance, and 3) to get a little more tire side wall to improve ride quality. They're still within 0.5% of one and other, so they XDrive should stay happy. Car is Estoril Blue, with VMR 703's powder coated in bronze. Pretty pumped to see it.

Funny story, after making this video I went to Detroit for a concert and people down there are running 26"+!!! Can't even see the tires! Just looks like they are gliding down the street on just the rim lmao
Probably dunks, def not the same category
@@NewEra0G same ride quality issue though. too much wheel, not enough tire
Lol 28s and bigger on some cars
I hate when I'm driving behind someone with big wheels because they stop at every lil bump
@@justinbuice What prevents you running 225/65 tyre on 19" wheel? Oh I know, too small car and no air suspension
Good advice! I always advise the exact same thing. I bought a black E93 with M Sports package. It was on 19” M Performance wheels during the testdrive. It was really annoying, especially with the top down. So after the test drive I asked them to change the wheels for 18” M wheels of another E93 that was standing next to mine in the showroom. Luckily they did that without any charge. I am so glad I did that, because it drives perfect on the 18” rims and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.
I drive 235/35/19 BBS Ch-r in Serbia, roads are very bad, only highway is good. And so far it is holding ok, once I bent rim little bit on very bad road in 3 years of driving, I did not have flat tyre during driving. Comfort is ok for me :), and handling on nice roads is amazing. I have to take care and drive on highway/track mostly though.
I am running the Styling 162 (R18 8J +34 front, 8.5J +37 rear), but I got myself the Styling 94 from the 7er. Those are the R18 8J +24 sqaured and I look forward for installing them. I like their look on a E90.
When?
My setup is 18" rims, 8J front 225/40 and 8,5J rear 255/35 on original Styling 32 with 15mm spacers front and 20mm rear. Looks good as hell and rides smoothly enough for our czech roads. Oh and the grip is noticeably better than the 205/55 i use during winter^^
They look so good then you hit a pothole and feel that shit in your soul! Thanks for letting everyone out there know Justin
I have an F30 340i with M Performance spec and came with 19” wheels. Looks proper.
I’ve got verde v99 axis wheels, 19s on a g37. No problems what so ever. Just avoid pot holes and there shouldn’t be any issues
I am also running 18s on my E90 with the msport suspension set up. I wanted to go 19 but opted to stick with the 18s especially since our roads here in South Africa are plagued with potholes.
You meant potholes plagued with tar road, SA roads suck
I’ve got 19s on my F30 and honestly I am really opting for 18” aftermarket wheels. Our roads are really not 19” friendly
@@sylism5086 I know what you mean everyday we have to avoid holes in the road and swerve around while driving just to keep the wheels and suspension intact

@Tyler Melton You DO know that they are heavy because of the brand material and not the size in particular... There are big rims that are very light, but expensive.
The Amazing Guyulnevrb 12” wide in the back? I call bullshit. Not on e9X. If so, you will soon have to replace your fuel filler neck hose. You have been warned.
I've had my e90 335i sedan for 6 years with m suspension and had 19's and went back to aftermarket 18"s. I would have to say 18s ride better then the 19s.

I tend to agree! I live in Atlanta and on 3 separate occassions I was left with a flat that the factory sized tire could withstand. But dang 19's look good though on sedans!

And lowering dosn't change anything? You can't blame the 19" lowering does affect your comfort as well
Yeah there’s no need to lower a bmw if you put bigger rims. Stock BMW are pretty low. If you want a good performing suspension don’t lower it imo
He got bc coils, so he can make his suspension as soft or stiff as he wants

I have a 2018 F30 330i with factory 8x19 in the front and 8.5 x 19 in the back. I think they're great... in the summer. In the winter I run factory 18s all around with winter tires (pot hole season). The 18s don't come off until the pot holes are filled (generally around April 30... the same date winter tires are no longer required in our BC mountain passes). Works for me, but our roads are pretty well maintained.
i live in cali im staying with my 18's on my grand coupe, good vid
Just bought a 07' 328i coupe,manual,55,000 one owner miles in Florida for $7,500 and drove back home to Redford Mi. I will immediately replace the 17" wheels with staggered 18". 8.5 front n 9.5 rear, TSW Crowthorne. Pilot Sport A/S 3+ will be the tire. Thanks for the thoughtful and sincere vids. thumbs up
I have had and still do have on a vehicle the Continental Extreme Contacts and the newer DSWs. Like them a lot but now the A/S 3s seem to be the undeniable better tire. Only downside I see to the Pilots is they likely will allow a little more noise to penetrate the cabin when contacting harsh bumps.
Also am replacing the dampers only with Koni Orange STR.T dampers, strut towers braces and that's it for mods. I'm good. Will now save for that water pump I'm gonna need.
Thanks, Justin. Saved me from getting 19's on my Skoda Octavia. Currently running 17's on some crappy outback Australian roads. Wanted a better look, hence wanting 19's, but after watching your video, I may get 18's or some better looking 17's.
Thank you for honest opinion. I recently bought E90 with stock M-Paket 18" wheels and I will happilly stay with them now and don't look for 19". However, mine isn't lowered, but we have winter here, so I bought 17" set for winter tyres.
I'm running 19s on my car for around 2 years now, and I'm on my 4th set of 19 inch wheels, never had any issues with tyres such as rubbing. I went for 19inch so i could have wider rear tyres for better grip and performance (although its not a very powerful car, i plan on getting a tune done soon, i went for tyres that have a good dry & wet traction rating & a good speed rating). My wheel specs are
Front : 19inch 8.5j 5/120 with 235/35/19 tyres
Rear : 19inch 9.5j 5/120 with 265/30/19tyres (i wanted to go for a 35 profile but that size tyre was out of the recommended spec as it would cause clearance issue according to the tyre fitment guys)
@livey oone bigger wheels, wider tyres, more contact on the road = better grip... Smaller wheels, thinner tyres, less contact on the road = poor grip
19x9s lowered less than 1” and rolling fenders = no rubbing

Absolutely I believe 18s look the best on the E90s. I got 19s on mine which came with it, 18s would have been perfect. Problem is a lot of nice rims aftermarket and OEMs come in 19s and not 18s unfortunately.
Exactly I'm finding lots of 19s that look fire compared to 18
I had runflats on my stock 17's. Now, I have 235/35/R19 all-season Goodyears on Style 95s (19x9 all around) and it rides SMOOTHER and SOFTER than the stock 17's with runflats. And I drive on Massachusetts roads
I have style 359M wheels from an E92 M3 ZCP. Although I love them, GOOD tires for these are ridiculously expensive. 245/35/19 up front and 265/35/19 in the rear on stock suspension. No local tire stores carry them in stock. Just something to consider if you have similar size 19s.
I'm thinking of getting those wheels for next summer. Now running Style 135's both summer and winter. Would be easier to have two sets of wheels.
Have 19” wheel package from BMW. Whenever in the past when I messed with upping rim size and tires that would work inside wheel wells I always went to discount tire. They would mount discuss the pros and cons, mount rims and tires for free and I’d it didn’t work out then they remove them and make it right. If you want to guess then it’s on you. Fortunately my BMW was designed for the 19s so they are fine, look great and everyone notices them and asks questions.

Running 19" 8,5 rims on my e46 with 235/35/19 tires. It works alright but it's a completely different ride compared to smaller rims with a higher tire profile. Depends alot on what kind of tire you are running as well. Cheaper tires vibrate more if I got it right

Have any pics? I’m looking into wheels for my e60 not sure if 18s or 20s
It's not only the stiffer ride, more expensive tires, heavier overall weight, tendency to crack from potholes, but too large a rim tends to dwarf the size of the brake rotors, making the brakes look inadequate.
Just as a note I went from stock 18s with run flats to 19s lower profile non run flat and the ride improved dramatically. But yeah you are right, also have an old S class with 16s and massive sidewall and it is 10x smoother than most modern cars with low profile
Run-flats are a different ball game. The sidewalls are at least and maybe more than twice as thick as non run-flats; therefore, that much harsher of a ride. (Comparing apples to coconuts).
Would help if you suspension were set up right fronts higher than the rear even with the engine
I'm running non RFT Goodyear F1 Asym 3 on the standard 225M wheel with standard size, 225/35/19 on the front and 255/30/19 on the rear with Bilstein B3 set up from Birds in the UK. No blow outs so far and It's pretty compliant unlike an RFT with standard shocks and springs. No doubt an 18" wheel with a higher profile would be more plush.
i got my tires from tire4coin
18 seems like a good compromise to me. I have 18 on my e82 and I get good handling, looks, and smoother ride.
I would recommend sticking to stock tire and rim setup. My midsize sedan comes with 19 inch 40 profile tires on 245 width . I have no issues and the car is smooth. The Bigger rims and less profile the more harsher the ride
I'm currently in this exact same 19 vs 18-inch debate with my Golf R. The 19's look so good and unique to the car but I'm honestly fearful of road imperfections now. Problem is, if I switch to the 18's, the increase in tire sidewall is only 5mm--235/35/19 to 225/40/18. I really just don't know how much 5mm is going to make a difference. Is the sidewall difference from 19 to 18 more dramatic on this BMW? Maybe 10mm?
Steering was easier to turn, yes ?
I have a E92 and last year I bought a set of BBS CH wheels. 19x9.5 19x8.5. The rear tire size is 265/30 and the front is 235/35. I live in Boston where the roads are shit and so far the only problem I have is...I can’t go too low with the coil overs in the front because they’ll rub. The car is sitting pretty low already so I can live with that. Overall, The only reason I would go 18s is to lower the car even more without worrying about the 3/4’s or fenders.
Your cars looking sick man. Keep posting Bro, much love All the way from the uk
I run 19's on my Acura ILX and love it 🚙 no rub no blown tires lowered on Tein Springs hella flush too.
Love your video! However, do you think is the suspension ruins the 19” wheels? I’m running with enkie 19” wheels (PS4S) during summer, I really love the ride quality, and fuel efficiency.
Most definitely. Those H&R setups are very stiff - much stiffer than what actually works well on the street. If he orders up a set of springs that are 25-30% softer, he will be much better off.
tires are best on tire4coin
The after market struts and springs don't make it ride better? Even with the 19in

Hi Justin! Thanks for the tips! So helpful. I am running with the stock 18 inch wheels on my 2016/2017 GTI SE. My intention is to get the tires out a little and give it a more sporty look. What can you advise me on this matter? thank you
Depends on car. 19’s work on vettes and vipers and my tires have plenty of sidewalk to hook and look good.

you saying... i don't get people complain about 19 on daily drive car... why????
15" for daily drive 17" for a little fast car and 19 for a really fast car with low mileage..
and bigger than that you on your own risk...
Thank you - I have been given a choice of 18 and 19 -- I was confused what I should go with. Now i am clear :)
Comfort also depends on the car. I have 18s on my Evo and 19s on my SAAB 9-3 and the Evo is still a stiffer ride.
The 19s look great, fit perfectly, and feel fine. But I don't think 19s would look good or perform as well on the Evo.
Tip: Go around the potholes
I agree with him. Unless you wanna spend a lot of money on tires regularly then get them big....but I went with 18 and didn't have to replace or have any issues for 2 years!
I premeditated getting my rims and tires because I live in Texas where there are dirt roads and potholes just about everywhere. I drove with stock rims and the Yokohamas for a while even though the performance wasn't that well. It took me 7 months before I put in the order. So I got the all weather TOYO rally extensa's with TPMS sensors put on 18" AXE rim machine face rims from Carid.com. Fully balanced and ready to go right out of the box.
Great video, i always wonder how other owners drives in 19 and 20s because I have a set of enkei 18 on my F30 with factory tire size, lowered with HR springs and Bilstein B8, it rides like hell on these philly roads. Really thought about getting 19 because of the looks, but after this video I think I’m gonna put that thought aside

For my 2015 F30. First set 235/35/19 Front, Rear 265/30/19. Scale of 1 to 10 on comfort I'd say 8 but it's not that much traction or grip in the rear. New set 245/35/19 Front, Rear 275 /35/19 which has more tire a 10 in comfort. I'm about to which the rear tires tomorrow for the 275/30/19s bc I don't really like the bulky rear end look. I'm more low profile and I didn't lower my car which I'm not ever going to. I must say though the ride is waaaay more comforting with the 35s in rear.
Am runing 235/35/19R front en 265/30/19R and i have no probleem. Or what so ever...but when u hit pot holes u obvisiouly feel it more than runing a thicker sidewall tyre..but why will you lower ur car and still run a 19inch with thin side wall??that is very dumb
Dude u should go 275 30 19.
@@Infinite1972 that will be too much for a e90 320d
i’m on 20s 245 30 up front 275 30 rear
I recently got 19 inch rims on 40's for the summer and boy let me tell you they look sweet af on my ride! But your absolutely right in doing so it has compromised the comfortability with my driving, you kind of feel every bump on the road not only that my car is no longer capable of driving with full passengers. But like I said they are only for summer once October comes around I'm going to have to switch back to my oem rims which is 17 inch on winter 50's.
Welp 🤷🏾♂️
Too late.
I have 19’s 255/35/19 all around
Thought about lowering but not anymore 😂
I just bought that same setup for my 2013 F30 xdrive, but not installed yet. I'm hoping they fit.
I'm running 17x7 with 225/45s on my 06 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. It looks, feels and runs great in my opinion
Im running 19's on my e46. 9j 225/35 10j 245/35, cant complain.
After much time spent going over what I wanted and what was practical I went with 18x9 et 30 front with 245 40 18 mp4s and 18x10 et 33 275 35 18 mp4s. Wheels are Apex arc8r forged and 75mm titanium stud kit.🤷♂️ no spacers. 18s look perfect imho. Like you said 19s need thin tires. It highly depends on the tires you select. The mp4s have a soft sidewall and are comfortable. My priority was a little more comfort over turning precision. If a tire was perfect it would wear slowly, grip like hell, turn in like it's on rails, and be comfortable at the same time. So you pick a tire and make one trade of for another for what you need.
Don’t get them for a 3 series. I recommend 18” for 3 series, 19” for 5 series, 20”, 21” for 7 series
tompparaideri I just got myself 19” alpinas for under my 1 series, 235/35/19 37 et front 265/30/19 33 et rear, I dont even know if they are going to fit lmao, but I got them for a good price so if they dont, I’ll just sell them 😂
Apo Mpower I haven’t checked what fits to a 1 series but it could be that you should upgrade the suspension as that helps running really low profile tires cos’ it gives some ride quality back.
tompparaideri I got 20”s on my e93 and would not have anything less.
TheRealDamiani Great that it works for you.
Well my alpinas didnt fit, too wide, got 19” breyton instead, very stiff on the road obviously but im satisfied, they look sick 😜
Cool video. Anyway, I just put 8.5x19" and 9.5x19" ET 35 wheels on my E93 335i and they're amazing.
What size wheels are you running??
Justin Buice 18x8.5 F 18x9.5 R
I have 2006 330i and have OEM rims on it but I want to switch to M4 rims the style I want is made in 18 aswell
18x8 on both the front and rear. Had aftermarket 17s on the car when I bought it.
My IS came stock with 19s
Justin Buice i bought the same rims after watching your earlier video. They look super nice but super terrible. 3 of my rims are destroyed. 18 would have been much better.
I’m running 245/30/22 front. And 295/25/22 rear on my 745li e66 bmw
295 is fancy
I've never liked big wheels, anything above 17-18 on certain cars seems just extra.
I've always thought form for cars always follows function and being interested in racecars before showcars kind of solidified that.
I have a 2016 BMW 535i M Sport Edition. Mine came with 19 inch M sport wheels staggered. I love them. They look great and fit the car perfectly as it’s a big car. I don’t mind paying almost 2k in tires.
