OEM wheels can be hit or miss, depending on manufacturer and specific wheel. Wheels generally don't get made by the car manufacturer but by an outside brand. It does occur OEM's go to low end wheel manufacturers to get their wheels produced (example: Rota has produced OEM wheels), but generally speaking OEM's tend to stick to higher quality producers when it comes to wheels.

@@GetOffMyLog That's because most OEM alloys are the same quality level as most cheap aftermarket wheels. Often just as heavy or heavier than steelies as well.
@@heygek2769 they have to be covered by warranty so they're usually strong enough to not worry about. Reps and other cheap wheels don't have that requirement.
@@heygek2769 OEM wheels at least have more structure to them generally, they're almost never made with super thin/minimal spokes like these Enkei knockoffs.
Construction and quality is less important than sidewall height for impacts, and unless you're running those on a Truck/SUV, a pothole can easily wreck your shit. Forged or not, aluminum is way more likely to fracture than steel and performance-oriented wheels will sacrifice thickness for weight over OEM. A pothole badly bent our 2019 Kia's 17" OEM wheel, and it was a total bitch trying to find a place to repair it to my surprise. I would've rather it had the 16s since low profile tires ride like absolute shit for minimal gains and bigger wheels just add needless weight.
What I've found with cheap parts, is anything in the price range of the knock off bride seat is going to fairly decent if it's a no name seat or lesser known brand.
@@xxtimo_titanxx7189 no that Seat did worse than a swap in from a geo metro. Buy literally any other cheap seat, because a no name brand will be farther up the quality scale despite being the same price as the fake Bride.
UptoSpeed should return with a new updated Nissan Silvia video. Diving deep into why each chassis is different and explaining the international/trim differences. For example, most don't know the s13 180sx was made up until 1998, well past the introduction of the s14.
@@tturi2 Except that there's nothing unsafe about the products "tested" here when used as intended. Most factory aluminum and composite rims will break when strapped to the front of a Previa van and slammed into a parking stop sideways. As for a racing seat, you're actually better off with an aluminum seat if safety is that important to you.
@@aaronthomas6155 the material aluminium I'm not saying isn't up to the task, but you're willing to cheap out on wheels that frequently crack or shatter under normal use or that aren't constructed to a certain safety standard, thats your choice, the aluminium seat I can't talk for or against since I don't have the experience, but if you cheap out on a seat, that's your back potentially getting broken in a crash,
Love when you guys test stuff. I always assumed that ppl went cheap on safety stuff not cuz they think it's as good as the name brand equipment but think that it's still better than the stock stuff. I'd love to see you do videos testing cheap safety equipment like this seat against stockseats and other stock safety equipment.
This is all fun & stuff, but IRL aren’t the knock offs good enough? I mean to break a spoiler like that you’d have to flip the car, in which case the spoiler will be the least of your worries, no?
I thought you guys would have tested the rocket bunny spoiler out by checking its fitment compared to the knockoff, I never would have thought you compare them using nunchucks lol
A cool video idea but sadly literally none of those tests have anything to do with the usability or safety of any of these parts for the consumer. Basically clickbait at this point.
honestly, i dont see a big problem with buying knock off parts, with the exception of safety equipment (seats, helmets, harness' etc) i think there's a place, sometimes people who dont make lots of money just want to make their cars look nice and unique, and in order for them to achieve that, a cheap knock off bodykit or replica wheels or whatever fill that demands, i know buying legit supports the actual designers and creators of these parts, but sometimes thats either not possible if they're rare parts, or just way out of budget for any regular joe
@@antiricergt maybe my comment came across poorly, I just mean that if you want something nice/cool/expensive or whatever, there's no need to cheap out and buy replicas. You could just save up to buy the thing you want. Sure it takes longer to get what you want, but everything worth doing is hard. It's also more satisfying when you eventually achieve your goal.
This video exemplifies the reason as to why I'd rather wait and save money to buy the real thing, than to buy a knockoff. Other than a quality product it feels nice knowing that you're supporting the people behind the product.

Donut Media is like a rapper that had a huge success and ruled the charts for a few years making crazy money, but got complacent and now lives off the revenue of his old hits, only to be a featuring artist on some new hot-shots track recycling his previous stuff. A shadow of his former self.
I don't think crushing the seat like that is a particularly great test for the road, or even for the track in a normal car, but instead maybe its fire resistance?
I was shocked to see that's somehow the official test. Lateral compression? Is the seat supposed to stop the side of the car from crushing you? You'd think they'd test something relevant, like, the seat not shearing off the bolts in a simulated decel.
I got Kosei K1TS back in the day instead of RPF1. Understeered straight into a curb approaching an exit ramp, 30-40mph. Bent the knuckle to +1.5 camber and was vibrating like mad. Held air and had no cracks, only very bent. Was very impressed and a would buy from Kosei again.
The point of these parts is 100% exclusively to look cool. "But a spoiler saves a couple seconds on the track" You're not going to the track, you're going to the mall, maybe a couple donuts at a car meet once in a while. Your parts could be made of cardboard. And if you do go to the track, you can save 30 seconds by just driving better, the two seconds gain from a spoiler aren't going to matter.
What I've found with cheap parts, is anything in the price range of the knock off bride seat is going to fairly decent if it's a no name seat or lesser known brand.
ya, the seat did actually really well, instead save the money if they perform closely
@@xxtimo_titanxx7189 no that Seat did worse than a swap in from a geo metro. Buy literally any other cheap seat, because a no name brand will be farther up the quality scale despite being the same price as the fake Bride.
That last test was wild!!! Lol
Intro into the bro with the nunchucks was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life
UptoSpeed should return with a new updated Nissan Silvia video. Diving deep into why each chassis is different and explaining the international/trim differences. For example, most don't know the s13 180sx was made up until 1998, well past the introduction of the s14.
I feel like the 'fake' parts didn't really get a fair shake in this video
They went through the same tests and were significantly more damaged after, not sure what you're looking for.
just don't buy fake if you care about safety and performance
@@tturi2 Except that there's nothing unsafe about the products "tested" here when used as intended. Most factory aluminum and composite rims will break when strapped to the front of a Previa van and slammed into a parking stop sideways. As for a racing seat, you're actually better off with an aluminum seat if safety is that important to you.
@@aaronthomas6155 the material aluminium I'm not saying isn't up to the task, but you're willing to cheap out on wheels that frequently crack or shatter under normal use or that aren't constructed to a certain safety standard, thats your choice, the aluminium seat I can't talk for or against since I don't have the experience, but if you cheap out on a seat, that's your back potentially getting broken in a crash,
@@tturi2 I've never seen a rim shatter in normal usage. Working in collision repair, I've seen plenty of "name brand" rims break though.
I now have a new "safety glasses" set up, thanks Jobe
What, the hat cover and safety squints method?
I never get tired of hearing Nolan's vocieover for a legit Nissan commercial. Donut Media....you guys are legit AF
The world needed this video 🤣🏂🏂🏂
Love when you guys test stuff. I always assumed that ppl went cheap on safety stuff not cuz they think it's as good as the name brand equipment but think that it's still better than the stock stuff. I'd love to see you do videos testing cheap safety equipment like this seat against stockseats and other stock safety equipment.
What’s hitting a spoiler have to do with it working being on a car🤣
If it’ll cause you to die when it breaks, don’t cheap out.
This is all fun & stuff, but IRL aren’t the knock offs good enough? I mean to break a spoiler like that you’d have to flip the car, in which case the spoiler will be the least of your worries, no?
13:09 "IDK about your welding skills" wheel reveals welding skills on the bumper
Nunchucks guy was awesome. I loved how he just burst through the door whipping his nunchucks around.😂
_"...Nolan included..."_
Nice and subtle.
I love it. 😂
The counterfeit spoiler was hit way harder than the greddy one
You guys are on point as always, given the recent spate of nunchuck attacks on car spoilers.
The Nunchuck Test should be an industry standard
Think it's time to bring back the old series: Bumper2Bumper, WheelHouse, road trips, etc. Donut used to be THE best!
I thought you guys would have tested the rocket bunny spoiler out by checking its fitment compared to the knockoff, I never would have thought you compare them using nunchucks lol
so long as i don't drive like a maniac then im ok with fake ones.
save me $2k. :)
Always buy real rocket bunny kits. That way if you are ever in an urban street nunchuck fight you will make it out in one piece.
Jesus that’s so good lol
LEAVE THAT POOR TRUCK ALONE.
Genuinely pleased that my subscription helped pay for the new testing lab
Thanks James!
Thanks Zach!
Thanks Jerr!
Thank you Donut Media!
A cool video idea but sadly literally none of those tests have anything to do with the usability or safety of any of these parts for the consumer. Basically clickbait at this point.
11:05 "what do you see?"....."metal..."
best part of this video lol
I miss up to speed episodes. My favorite series. Glad to see a reference here.
Now I know, never hit my fake spoiler with nunchucks, thanks guys! 👍 The more you know
honestly, i dont see a big problem with buying knock off parts, with the exception of safety equipment (seats, helmets, harness' etc) i think there's a place, sometimes people who dont make lots of money just want to make their cars look nice and unique, and in order for them to achieve that, a cheap knock off bodykit or replica wheels or whatever fill that demands, i know buying legit supports the actual designers and creators of these parts, but sometimes thats either not possible if they're rare parts, or just way out of budget for any regular joe
Not to mention I would guess most people buy reps and have no issues.
You could... I dunno... maybe save up to buy legit parts? Just a thought.
@@zallas_99 Why? So others can see them or should we get what we like?
@@zallas_99 you're right, also why isn't everyone driving around in Lamborghinis or McLaren's, like just save up 5head, just a thought
Have to agree with the other. Content is starting to feel click baity and recycled. Come on Donut, you guys are better than this
This video exemplifies the reason as to why I'd rather wait and save money to buy the real thing, than to buy a knockoff. Other than a quality product it feels nice knowing that you're supporting the people behind the product.
Love how Jeremiah only around on the fun stuff 😂😂
Never thought BRIDE was pronounced that way. Always pronounced it as in “wedding” BRIDE 😂
Watching that fake wheel be destroyed was eye opening.
I'll spend my money on quality. It's worth it in the end.
"We spent $__ on this aero wing, and $__ on this aero wing. It's from Rocket Bunny, we even did a video about Rocket Bunny. Now let's watch this dork hit it with a nunchuck..."
What a great car channel Donut has become.
Their reaction when bro came in chuckin had me rolling😂😂😂
That last bit was spectacular lol
13:13 lecturing people about safety with welds like that lmao
I just started working in a metallurgy lab, and the wheel segment got me all kinds of excited hahaha
I love how Jeremiah just pops in the video to blast a curb
13:11 them welds 😂 nice video boys well done
You guys are like the freaking myth busters with that test
Donut Media is like a rapper that had a huge success and ruled the charts for a few years making crazy money, but got complacent and now lives off the revenue of his old hits, only to be a featuring artist on some new hot-shots track recycling his previous stuff. A shadow of his former self.
The slow-mo of the ESR shattering was epic.
I don't think crushing the seat like that is a particularly great test for the road, or even for the track in a normal car, but instead maybe its fire resistance?
hi filman
@@pancake5830 hello there :)
I was shocked to see that's somehow the official test. Lateral compression? Is the seat supposed to stop the side of the car from crushing you? You'd think they'd test something relevant, like, the seat not shearing off the bolts in a simulated decel.
the fake wheel shatter was so satisfying
10:17 the underside of the rim squished causing the lip to crack. The part where the anvil hit was opposite to the crack.
I cannot get over how beautiful that nunchuck strike was
That's definitely not the way we use wheels and rear spoilers Donut.
James, your fly was down at 9:40 so…what brand of pants are those, they look comfortable😂
The way he just touched the fiberglass with his bare finger, SAVAGE!!
(I don't know who i'm ranting at here)
lol an lb spoiler is not made for anything other than looks
wheels and proper wings/spoilers most definitely have a function though
