    Thank you for making and sharing another thoughtful video on designing and printing. This begs the question of what other printers would complement a Sovol SV07+ ? Perhaps both a Comgrow T500 and a Bambu A1 mini? Been trying to weigh this out. The T300 looks pretty cool, but it's so close to the SV07+ features-wise that it doesn't make sense for me to have two printers so similar.

    Hi!! Thank you so much for helping me with my Sovol 7 Plus. I was wondering what were your reasons for taking off the extruder cover? Also is the Led cable glued to the extruder, how were you able to take it off?

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am planning to make a video on this, but basically I designed my own LED light mount, and bought 8mm 24V COB LED strip (they cost like $3 for 10 pieces of 50mm sections), the same that I used for adding led lights to my SV06 Plus. My reasons:
      A) better visibility for first layer
      B) better accessibility to the nozzle (to check silicone sock etc)
      C) better accessibility to the tensioning screw (without screw driver)
      D) access to the maintenance door on the side (to check for grub screws and cleaning)
      E) reduced weight for the extruder by ~40g to improve accuracy, less strain on the x axis motor (make sure to redo input shaping calibration for X though)
      F) I think the angle of the light coming from the side is better than mainly from the front
      I plant to post a whole video on the topic soon

    Great video as always. Is Fusion360 now your go to design software? Is the price reasonable, or do you know a cheap way of getting it?
    Also, have you thought about switching your SV06+ over to Klipper? Would be a useful video - knowing how comprehensively you research and explain things.

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you @garyh8997 Good news: Fusion 360 is free for personal use, and I can only recommend it. Might be a bit steeper learning curve, but you will not need to switch, since it's impossible to reach the limits it can do.
      I wasn't sure how detailed I should make the CAD part, if you are just starting you are probably better off looking for dedicated tutorials on YT, I learned from @cadcamstuff

    Thank you for info about the gantry and print order. On SV07+ you have also to include the size of the fan behind extruder as it is huge. I have solved this by always printing in order from bottom of the table to the top (y=0 to y=300). Just a follow up question - what is the order in print one by one option? I feel it is random:/ And I have to move parts depending what order cura slicer made.

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, for me too the order feels random in Cura. I always have to test in preview mode and adjust to mix it up. It would be interesting to research this. On the Ultimaker forum I found this: "Cura uses the reverse order of the objects list to print the parts." I will have to check if this is correct.
      And yes, the humongous auxiliary part fan on the SV07 / SV07+ does make one-at-a-time printing more difficult. If you have both machines, this is another reason to pick the SV06+ for certain projects.

      @@gerGoPrint3D Have You tested 0.2 nozzle on this printer ? Also have You noticed very fast wear of bearing wheels (i think they are from POM)? I am thinking about exchanging all of them for PEEK, PTFE wheels. Just don't know how to disassemble the machine properly to not have any problems later.

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@deciver5 No, I only tested nozzles bigger than 0.4 (0.6, 0.8mm). This is my first 3d printer that uses wheels, so I don't have much comparision. I don't see much wear on the wheels, except the original wear-in that happened during the first 20-30 hours of use.

    Good point with the larger bed-size for multi printing! Makes me go for the + rather than the non- + ..

      Good choice, there are a lot of advantages of the Plus besides the 2.5 bigger build volume:
      * color touch screen for easier, quicker control, which is a moot argument if you upgrade to Klipper → th-cam.com/video/xoGxAHcYCVc/w-d-xo.html
      * larger heater block and longer nozzle means more consistent flow at higher speeds (volumetric speed of 25-30mm³/s instead of 12-15mm³/s)
      * disproportionally thicker linear rods (10mm instead of 8mm) mean more stability (even at bigger size)
      * reduced z axis wobble, tilting due to bearings at the top of the z screws
      * filament runout sensor
      * smoother filament feeding due to bearings in the filament holder - important when [printing flexibles like TPU / TPE → th-cam.com/video/0nxjQEzdp2E/w-d-xo.html
      * insulated bed heating for improved thermal efficiency and more even heat distribution
      * disproportionally larger power supply for quicker bed / nozzle heat up
      * extra linear bearing in the bed (4 instead of 3) for increased stability

    whats your recommended slicer for the sv07 plus? Any modifications needed?

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use Cura 5.4. Works fast, and well, and the print time estimates are always spot on. I use the original Sovol Cura profile, but added build plate graphics to help me orient my parts on the print bed. Please see my recent video on how you can easily import the Sovol Cura profile in the latest version of Cura.

    Hello, I am new to 3D printing, I am unsure whether to purchase a klipperized Sv06 or an SV07. Assuming they come out at the same price, which would you recommend?

    • @gerGoPrint3D
      @gerGoPrint3D  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I recommend the SV07 or SV07Plus. It is much better for beginners. The SV06 is not recommended at all. With a lot of effort you can turn the SV06 Plus into a potentially more durable printer than the SV07, but for regular use the SV07 will not need servicing for many many years. And it is a well equipped printer, while the SV06/Plus are just bare bones minimum. The SV06Plus could be a good basis to build on, but you'd have to add so many things (including Klipper) which the SV07+ already has. I love both printers, but I've spent way more time modding and improving the SV06 Plus, the SV07 Plus just works, and has been working for the last 10 months without any issues. Watch my videos, you'll see them in action.

      @@gerGoPrint3D Thank you very much, I have finally acquired the SV07, I have assembled it and am in the process of calibrating it, I have not printed yet, the only drawback I see is the noise of the rear fan, is it necessary to use it? In what cases? For now I will do tests with PLA and PETG, Greetings from Spain, sorry my English is not very good.
