Funny, I just tuned to this video, from where you are fishing, the sound of the waves hitting the ramp and little beach…I just remembered the smell of the river…WOW! As a kid we‘d walk down to the river (Ohio) from the house..about a mile. Haven’t been fishing on the Ohio since…1974! Thanks for the great videos! I now fish the Columbia in Oregon about a 30 minute drive….not many catfish but steelhead and salmon numbers are pretty good..if they make it past all the sea lions!
Wow! I was first one here! Used to catch the cats Under the barges on the Illinois River. They like to wedge themselves between the bottom of the barge and the bank. Had to wait till they got tired of the mud and forced to swim out. Thanks Dave!
Grew up on the Ohio between the Belleville and Willow Island dams. Seen some big cats pulled out of that water. And the hybrid white bass fishing used to be amazing at both of those dams.

When I was a kid, I fished the barges at the old flour mill in Decatur Alabama, from the bank. We caught whopper cats on hand lines. Today, they don't want you near their barges, even from a boat. It's a different world today.

I've always used chunks of Asian carp as big as your hand when we couldn't get skipjack. It works in a pinch and have landed blues over 60lb with it. Good luck stay safe out there. 👍

Now you're up in my neck of the woods mr Dave you need to get on up to shawneetown Illinois and put in the river and fish a mile north on both sides of the river and then south of the grain company all the way down on both sides of the banks been many of 40 to 60 pounders caught here my buddy
You better tie those rods down I've had them take off before on the big Mississippi river. I've caught some big blues on that Asian carp chunks. Thanks 👍

How to prepare Asian Carp: Take fish put onto a piece of cardboard. Gut fish and throw away guts. Cut off head, tail, and fins toss those. Skin fish and toss that. Fillet meat off back bone and toss toss the backbones and other remaining bones. Take the meat fillets and toss those into trash and then take the CARDBOARD, add butter/salt/Cajun powder, and cook for 35 minutes @ 350* and enjoy!
Been there a lot best time is when or just after they load the corn!!! Catfish are so fat you could squeeze their stomach & corn & grain just pours out!! But I put in at Coxs Park Indiana side a paddle across in a 14 foot John boat 2 anchors. Lmao Some times U don't have enough time to use 2 poles I usually went before dark tho. I've got Bruises all across my stomach from sitting in the hook. On a good night it's unforgettable & a blast!!! There's a number U can call to see what their loading. Another great place is below the locks There's a sunken Large sticking out of the water but you have to call the number of the locks to make sure you're not letting out a lot Also.

Get too many carp around the corn barges. At least on the Illinois river, I avoid them.

Grill on a cedar plank. Throw the fish away and eat the cedar plank. 😂
