Need to put in at Madison and fish by the power plant. Have lived down there 49 years. Nothing to see a 65lb blue or 50lb flathead. You also have the lock down river at Vevay that area has some big fish also
Thank you for taking us to the Ohio River with you. Great video as they all are. I appreciate the time and work and money you put into making us great content to watch Justin.
Was just telling my fishing buddy last weekend about how you don’t really fish our kind of waters down in TN. Next video is two hrs from the house 😅. Love the videos, keep it up!
As a young man, I used to fish under anchored/moored barges along the Tennessee River. Since 9/11 that's an "iffy" proposition anymore, but we pulled some monsters out "back in the day". I've never heard of the bite increasing as a barge goes by tho... Thanks for the "learnin experience". 😅
Well I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet you last weekend I will be down there this weekend I had my line broke on a sumo flathead and I need my rig back lol hope to see you good luck buddy under the barge container
Justin, water depth is what makes the main difference. If the water is shallow enough for the barge engines to stur up the bottom...you get your barge bites. If water is to deep, they can't stur up the bottom, which brings in the bait fish, hence catfish.
Come a lil south in wv n try out a couple of our lakes such as burnsville or stonewall Jackson both have quality fish stonewall for sure is a large body tons of bay area's sunken timber creeks depths you name it and hold all 3 species of cats
I live in West Virginia next to the Ohio River, and the barge bite is definitely a thing. It doesn't work all the time, obviously, but it does usually work if there are fish around your bait.😊
Welcome to Kentucky!! And yes the the Ohio River maps are not worth a dime as they have drudged like crazy. Jeffboat Barge company used to operate here. Hope you have a nice trip here and do great in the tournament.
Great video Mister Justin 😁 and you want to hear a story, I was fishing yesterday with a rooster tail spinner and I caught a 5 pound channel cat on the little rooster tail spinner and I wasn't expecting it and I even told my friend that was with me that if we had worms that the spot were I caught the catfish, that it would be a good spot to catch one and then I caught one and I wasn't even fishing for a catfish isn't that crazy 😅😅😅
When I was in basic training at fort Knox Kentucky we done a trip to the Muhammad Ali museum you can see the Ohio River from there. If you like boxing go check out Mahmoud Ali museum. Some nice fish; good trip
The 2nd cat, the small one, I bet you crushed it's poor little heart. What you said to it, I pictured that young cat was like that young boy running into Mean Joe Green, but the cat couldn't even get a "he gone"😆
I really enjoy your videos. You surely are a great talker. You should try the Missouri River. I have caught giant cats all over but none of them fight as hard as the giants I have caught in the Missouri River. The current of the Missouri River grows them tough.
So is there something between fun sizer..and a golly whopper...we don't have alot of monsters on chester river...im on my mission fishin for my 40"..I got 39" earlier ..what is the 39" considered
If you got down closer to the Madison Indiana area there is a big muscle bed in the water goes up and down and up and down in depth like it's got waves on the floor anywhere from 8 ft to 12 ft back update ft to 12 ft
Next time come behind the LG&E Jefferson county in valley station because they let out hot water there and they had like 30 40 50 pound catfish here maybe bigger if you do come in West Point to dock
Nice catches there . The fun size ones were pretty fat . I bet as it gets closer to October weather will be a lot better for longer days on the water .
I didn’t know the barge bite was just an Ohio river thing😂. Have heard that term since I was a kid, but only on the Ohio. It’s a real thing near Louisville in my experience. Always Thought it was good everywhere barges are
I really enjoy your videos and really appreciate all the good knowledge and tips! Just started catfishing more regularly this summer. I live in Michigan so we don't have blues but you can find channel and flatheads. I was wondering what is the kayak you use in most of your videos with the trolling motor setup? I'm a bigger guy at 6ft 2in and about 260lbs and I'd like to get into the kayak fishing. Thanks for all your videos and keep up the awesome stuff
That small one you caught I think it was the second fish of the day. He ate the fly rig because his mouth was too small to get around the fish chunk. Stay safe.😊
I've witnessed barge bites on that river so many times. The couple bridges I like to fish going over the lakes get hot when cars go over. But, when the Amish come across the bridge everything shuts down.
I wish you would fish the Missouri River north of st. Joseph mo great fishing you just have to get a Missouri permit. as long as. you stay in the water and Kansas and Nebraska she the river they have a shared. fishing on the river not much traffic the week
Iv always been curious as to how you started using a size ten hook. You do amazing for hooks that size but it does match your bait size where I live I use way smaller hooks bc I normally can't get bait that big where I live we don't have skipjack
Nice to see you in my pool instead of the Tennessee. There is some big ones in there but not like where you fish. Yes I've been watching a commercial fishing for yrs in this pool you made this vid in, they hurting our fishery but can we do it's all legal as long as they don't brake the law
Why do you never try half backed skip jack ? baking with somme spices only the outside of the skip jack ?? So you can still hook it verry well ;-) it it is worth a try ! somme days if you catch nothing you could try to turn the tide with this . Lots of days if the fish dont take the traditional baits they will take sommething they dont know, just to taste it ;-)
Barge bite is just a old myth. It only works because the barges are docked because the bait fish go there because breaks the current and the big fish follow the food supply.
As an Ohioan. I approve of this! Thanks for another peaceful fishing video.
Great to see you fishing the Ohio river close to Cincinnati area you should try upstream farther in Cincinnati near the licking or by meldahl dam
Drop this man anywhere in the world! He will catch some big cats! Nice Justin! Enjoyed it
every time I see the sunrise I cue that Bill Dance music in my head. "now the sun is just starting to climb up over the tree top"
I can't believe I'm not the only one
Need to put in at Madison and fish by the power plant. Have lived down there 49 years. Nothing to see a 65lb blue or 50lb flathead. You also have the lock down river at Vevay that area has some big fish also
Yeah I live down in Warsaw ky and fish markland damn pool catch a lot of good fish.
Thanks!
Thank you Charles!
Thank you for taking us to the Ohio River with you. Great video as they all are. I appreciate the time and work and money you put into making us great content to watch Justin.
Another good trip caught a few at least justin you stay safe out there with those barges
We have that barge bite here on the Illinois River also. Thanks for the video.
I was also catching them down there in 20 foot of water next to bank on Indiana side before the curve down river.

Sweet, i have family in Rising Sun, but then i think I've said that already. Maybe when you announced your upcoming trip.
Hello Justin, great to see you in my neck of the woods. Best of luck to you, look forward to seeing your next program. Take care 👍
Ive noticed that fishing in Cincinnati, I never caught anything sizable, but when a barge went by the bite picked up
Come a lil south in wv n try out a couple of our lakes such as burnsville or stonewall Jackson both have quality fish stonewall for sure is a large body tons of bay area's sunken timber creeks depths you name it and hold all 3 species of cats

Thanks Justin it's good to see you amen
I was one of those boats in that 184 boat field.
Try the altamaha river in Georgia sometime. Lots of catfish in that river
great video. nice catches, good day. new gulp minnow color rainbow trout tore up the bluegill on table rock lake sunday. stay safe.
It’s always fun to fish new water and not get skunked. You did well pilgrim, you did well. 👍👍🎣
It would be neat if you fished with Hagen Grubbs and did some bumping. Awesome video again, thanks!
Oh yeah ... let's get some fish 👊👊👊
Going to say barge bite 😂 hell yeah
Thats a solid day for our stretch of river. Looking forward to the next few videos!
Welcome to Kentucky!! And yes the the Ohio River maps are not worth a dime as they have drudged like crazy. Jeffboat Barge company used to operate here. Hope you have a nice trip here and do great in the tournament.
If there anyone who can catch em, it's you, you are so awesome 👍😎!!!
Heck yeah the Ole barge bite
Was good to see ya again!
Let's go!!!!!!!!
Haha, “If you ain’t catchin no fish”. Lol. Be careful there Justin or the kids will start talkin like that. Haha,,, your the man.
love your videos and your gulp minnows u use
HOLY-🐄!! I had to rewind it to see again, and you were right, that fish done choked on the bait AND the Stinger!😱😂

That's a big skipjack
I live by the white river in desarc Arkansas
The bardge bite myth is true! Caught tons of fish on the Ohio because of barges. Great video!
Wuuhooo! Time ta get our hooks wet yall!
You need a Shakespeare line at feet counter
Like most Rivers with alot of up and down at times, you use it to find the channels and possible ledges.😊
Hope you get Em 😂...lots of luck
I feel like in rivers or waterways that change a lot, a cheaper garmin like the striker series is pretty good that lets you map the contours yourself.
The 2nd cat, the small one, I bet you crushed it's poor little heart. What you said to it, I pictured that young cat was like that young boy running into Mean Joe Green, but the cat couldn't even get a "he gone"😆
Justin is that red Cajun line on your reels?
PERFECt video after reliving this day.
Great video really enjoy watching your videos
I'm from and live in Kentucky and if you had to wait an hour for a bite then you was on the Kentucky side 😂
I really enjoy your videos. You surely are a great talker. You should try the Missouri River. I have caught giant cats all over but none of them fight as hard as the giants I have caught in the Missouri River. The current of the Missouri River grows them tough.
Gotta fish the Ohio side for flow. There's some really good fishing down by the licking river between Cincinnati and Covington
So is there something between fun sizer..and a golly whopper...we don't have alot of monsters on chester river...im on my mission fishin for my 40"..I got 39" earlier ..what is the 39" considered
Wow 5 minutes is a new record for me
If you got down closer to the Madison Indiana area there is a big muscle bed in the water goes up and down and up and down in depth like it's got waves on the floor anywhere from 8 ft to 12 ft back update ft to 12 ft
Indiana and Ohio are both on the north side of the Ohio River. The south side is Kentucky
barge bites are extremely common on the mississippi river down in new orleans
You broke the cardinal rule, don"t leave fish to go looking for fish. LOL
Glad to see you up here in Southern Indiana! Can't wait to see the next trip.
PS: the barge bite is real, in my experience from the shore anyway. 😉
Dinner bell lol always use the rattles
Next time come behind the LG&E Jefferson county in valley station because they let out hot water there and they had like 30 40 50 pound catfish here maybe bigger if you do come in West Point to dock

Accomplishment is the word you were looking for
If you ever get the chance to fish the Kanawha and Ohio rivers area theirs some good quality fish.
You should come back sometime and fish in between Warsaw ky and markland damn
Hey Justin I'm starting to do videos are you using a go pro and how do you get your battery to last so long
Golly woper time my brother 😊
You fishing right up the street from me
trying not to be to nosey but what ramp are you at?
If what you know is “alleged” do you know anything? 😂😂😂
Are you ever going to keep a fun sized catfish to eat since now you're fishing the Ohio River instead of the polluted Tennessee River?
The Ohio River is just as polluted as the Tennessee River
I tried the ohio in june with no luck, right by Ashland
Hell yeah
Iv always been curious as to how you started using a size ten hook. You do amazing for hooks that size but it does match your bait size where I live I use way smaller hooks bc I normally can't get bait that big where I live we don't have skipjack
10/0 is the biggest size I can get in the Mustad demon fine wire model. I would prefer a 12/0 or 13/0 in that style of hook
Have you ever even had a skunk day?
HE'D NEVER tell if he did...lol
I've been having serious issues with my navionics for the past year and a half.
You in my back yard !
One side of the river should be tredged and dugout for barges.
For all those fish you didn't give front camera to you should tell the world NSYNC is performing tonight at the MTV music awards 😅😅
Nice to see you in my pool instead of the Tennessee. There is some big ones in there but not like where you fish. Yes I've been watching a commercial fishing for yrs in this pool you made this vid in, they hurting our fishery but can we do it's all legal as long as they don't brake the law
In the Ohio River definitely has plenty of flatheads
If you launched from Rising Sun boat ramp, you are across from Kentucky.
Why do you never try half backed skip jack ? baking with somme spices only the outside of the skip jack ?? So you can still hook it verry well ;-) it it is worth a try ! somme days if you catch nothing you could try to turn the tide with this . Lots of days if the fish dont take the traditional baits they will take sommething they dont know, just to taste it ;-)
There is definitely some 100 pounders in the ohio river if you can find them.
Wouldn’t across the river from Indiana be Kentucky?? Haha nice fish
What part of the Ohio River
hey man, tslked to you sunday. great video man. maybe sometime you can comr back and we will show you a couple spots ?
This is awesome. Im very close to rising sun
Justin how you going to say theres catfish in here allegedly, but prior to that say you're not posting skunk videos. 😂
Ohio River is definitely plenty full of skipjack
Barge bite it 10000% true on the Ohio river-Ohio native
🚣🐟🐟HE GONE !!
Barge bite is just a old myth. It only works because the barges are docked because the bait fish go there because breaks the current and the big fish follow the food supply.
So then it's not a myth lol
Bye the way across the from Rising Sun is the beautiful state of Kentucky by the way they own the river.
Sentimental
