I was dumb for my first 18 years of life and thought John Denver was a pop fad; then I later learned the hard way trying to play his songs that John Denver was an incredible musician and song writer, who was well in tune with his guitar.
Not only do you teach the chords but also how to strum for each song you play. This way we’re getting two or more lessons in one lesson. Absolutely amazing teaching. Excellent!!
Great lesson, Lauren. I muddle through this song using the same progressions and strumming pattern. The challenge for me on this song is finding the right key/capo position. John Denver had a unique voice and I keep hearing it in my head when I am playing and singing. I can't emulate his tone, but it is fun to play with the capo positioning to find the key that supports my baritone voice. If all else fails I might try tuning down a step-ish. (Or just hum to this song :) )
Hey, thanks! Any advice on how Brandi C. plays it when they cover it? she capos way up I see. Since I sing easily at an octave under her, I kinda like that voicing as well.
I looked at some vids online and think it is Capo on 8 and the standard chords. The strumming pattern and subdivision is quick and a challenge for me to do and keep my hand in time. Would love some help there. and I am trying to figure out the chords to see if I can recreate the capo'd chord progression in open position. Thoughts? I love your work!! Oh, and I was talking about her live concert version where they incorporate Rocky Mountain High and Sunshine, not the slow one with Emmylou. @@LaurenBateman
For someone who struggles with Adhd you are a great teacher. In every lesson, you explain just enough theory and practical information. Also, by adding the spice, you keep us interested. I really love your teaching methods. I'm glad i did find you. Keep up the good work. You are the superstar.
Hi Lauren, could you please do a Garth Brooks easy song for beginners, and slow the lesson down as much as possible for a complete complete beginner level?
loads of Easy Learning here with her Channel....easy on ears and eyes....explains everything and any shortcuts. does she doing any electric teachings? like to see her do the CocaCola song...I like to teach the world one..supeer easy. but more to it...and I'd like to know
understand that.. your core is the acoustic....I look at your Logo..the guitar reminds me of them pot belly bottom acoustical electronicas from years back do you have one? they kinda look uncomfortable ergonomically as I remember ..Fender DN I have(was a Rescue from Landfill Bound) ...plays too stiff..the Tele so smooth next is The Strat...will shop for strings...but will be looking for a upper shelf Acoustic. Used... if I see a PotBelly Guitar I will demo it...laugh and might just buy it
Lauren! You're the absolute best! Excited about my newfound passion for guitar (I used to play the cello all through middle school and high school), and I'm going to take your 7-level guitar course soon. I was wondering if you have a tutorial on how to play Simon and Garfunkel's Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard? Thanks again!
I've just recently found your channel and I've learned more from this than anything else. Could you please show how to play "My favorite memory" Merle Haggard
Im not quite ready for the D7 and have never tried it but this was a very good tutorial. I need to know the song better too. Ive always liked it but i was born in 95 and not raised hearing this song. Youre on my guitar playlist!
I'm a student on the 2nd level of the seven level system. I'm going to practice this lesson without the last up stoke to make it easier to keep up with the cord changes. Thx.

Hi Lauren
my problem is not changing chords it is getting correct rhyme can youhelp the is what is holding me back from playing better
Pat
Slow down and keep the timing simple. Quarter note strumming. Focus on hitting the down beat before progressing beyond that.

Yes, I was thinking of doing a cover of her version. Let me look it up and see if I can add a chart to my website.

one of the first songs I played as a kid when I got my first acoustic, thanks for this one Lauren 😊
You are welcome!
@@LaurenBatemanwhat about putting a capo on the 2nd fret??? Could it work??
First song for me too. Played it over and over in the college dorm lobby. My friends asked my mentors to teach me another another song.
@@user-iamRobinV68yea but it would be a bit harder to play as this would make it in key of D

Hi Lauren here is my question is...how much we tighten the strings to get accurate eBGDAE sound
You use a tuner to get the accurate sound for each string.
I was broken my first string. that's A
👏👏👏
I've never been able to get this song right ,that might change now . Thanks Lauren
You're so welcome! You got this :D
for the D7 chord, I found it easier to just leave the D chord and put the pinky on the 3rd fret instead of rotating the whole chord.
Thank you very much for sharing :D
Thanks Lauren!
You absolutely rock, thanks for helping me out mate.
Happy to help!
Love John Denver. Thanks for this one! Will be working on it.
