In this lessons video, I am going to be going over 4 of the easier chords you should learn on guitar as a beginner player. Now these absolute beginner guitar chords use only two fingers. And the great thing about learning these 4 chords is that they are very commonly used in songs together.
If you learn these 4 easy acoustic guitar chords: the easy C chord, the easy G chord, the easy D chord and the E minor chord, then you will be able to play thousands of songs.
I will also show you how to use a capo with these 4 absolute beginner guitar chords to play even more songs. These easy acoustic guitar chords are great for beginner and older players alike. Good luck!

Please I want to know when I enrolled now how long is it for a year
Please I just tried to enroll and my card was declined what could be the problem
good job Lisa, you really made it easy!
........
I've had a stroke & forgotten how to play many of the guitar chords I used to play as a professional musician. Her lessons have helped me begin to remember how to do my life's passion again. I'm almost confident enough to ask one of my dear friends to help me with more advanced lessons. I can't thank Lauren enough.
Aww George I am so so happy to help you.
She's better than the male instructors, they go too fast. She's precise, patient , & thorough first us slow Iearners.
I wish you the best recovery
That’s great
Strum on brother
It's only 8th day after purchasing a guitar, and I reached to this level of learning chords, it's all because of you only.. Thank you Lauren.
Great job! Keep it up!
yeah I wish I would have found her a lot sooner, this is helping soooo much
😳 Lauren I just finished learning these chords and I love it. This is my new passion now and you’re making it so easy for me to enjoy it, my fingers are hurting but it’s all worth it, thank you for real.👍
Gotta love TH-cam…it’s definitely my number 1 go to when I’m stumped on anything in life..😝
Still a very new beginner. But your videos are really easy to follow.
3 years later, and you're still helping the beginners. No one does it better.
Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Lauren, I've been trying to play the guitar since I was in the fifth grade. I'm 68 years old now and because of you, I'm finally learning more than Mary had a little lamb with one finger...Thank You!!
Great Job! You can do it!
Bro this comment is a year old, this guy is 69 now. 💀

50 year-old complete beginner.... This is going to be the lovely woman to aid me... Thank you
You got this! Glad to help.
I'm 55 and just learning.. good luck. I hope I get it.

OMG….. i just fall in love with this beautiful, gifted teacher. Will check out more of her videos. Right now I am super motivated to practice those four basic and simplified cords and see where it takes me. Yaaaaaay! I am so happy I found you Lauren!!!!!
Wow, thank you!
I bought a guitar a 5 months ago, and i was still struggling with cords after all the practice, but after i saw ur videos i knew i was doing it wrong, thank you Lauren u are really an amazing teacher 💜
So happy to help!!!
Thanks Lauren I learnt more in five minutes of your video then any others I've tried
Fantastic!
I must say that you are my first "Go to" for lessons, Lauren. Thank you for putting these lessons up for us. You are a considerate and talented guitar teacher.
You're so welcome!!!!
Just got a guitar yesterday and I’ve learned all 4 with quick transitions with my eyes close in about 40 minutes because of you. I really like the way you break it down simplified. Definitely subbing.
That is awesome!
@Lauren Bateman As a 46 yrar old beginner starting lessons in the new year, you've given the most satisfaction from a single watch than many other vids. Was already familiar with first 2 chords but the clip experience was the cherry on top. Be watching a few more times and other vids. Thank you.
Awesome!!! Welcome to the channel.
I attempted to play around a year ago but I could figure out how to play basic chords, and recently I sand a song Infront of 200+ people in my school year (year 10) and got confidence to try to learn this guitar again :)) thanks for all the help!
Glad I was able to help 😃
Wow! This is amazing. I have been struggling with full chord changes. You are right, these simplified chord changes are doable and definitely build up your confidence. I can do this! Keep them coming!
Glad it was helpful!
I bought my first guitar last week. I have been on guitar tricks and TH-cam over this past week. I learned more in your 17 minute video then I have all week. I am so thankful!!! Life saver!
That is awesome!
Lauren I moved to this one after your “First Lesson I will ever need” after making notes for string and fret practice which I continue to do with every sit down session. I love REPEATED INSTRUCTIONS! Much better than scrolling back. Thank you so much for taking time in your videos instead of rushing like you’re on a time limit!
Janie you are so welcome!!!
Absolute newb to any instrument. Picked up an acoustic guitar to challenge myself and pass the time. Having never played any other instrument, I'm now stringing together 3 chords with the assistance of Lauren's tutorials. I love the pace she goes at and the repetition.
Mike, so happy to help! That's awesome.
I know there's a lot of repetition and simplification, but that's JUST what I need. I have small hands for an adult, and it's my first day playing guitar. This actually helped me figure out how to transition chords!
Some people need repetition. It's the reps that help us get better.
A friend bought a guitar as present for my son this Christmas and definitely he will love this simple video lesson
You helped me out so much. I got a guitar last year and looked up other videos for beginners but only showed the three finger method for every note and it ended up causing me a lot of pain. After numerous failed attempts at trying to learn, my guitar pretty much became a decoration for almost a year. Yesterday, I decided to give it another shot and that's when I came across this video. Your methods actually got me to play notes and now I can finally learn. What I love is that you actually repeat all the steps to keep it fresh. Thank you for making me feel confident enough to continue.
Oh this is so awesome!!!!!! I'm so glad you find my teaching methods helpful. Great news. Keep going. You got this!
I am a 34 year old married mom of 3 kids and have had my dad's quitar for years without knowing how to play. I found your videos and am now very confident that I can easily learn how to play guitar in 2022!! I also have ADHD and dyslexia and have found it hard in the past to learn instruments so thank you so much for your great lessons !
You're so welcome. Let's get that guitar singing!
Lauren, you have a special and unique way of breaking down the steps to learning guitar music and songs. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for music with all of us!
Aww thanks
Thank you, Lauren! I"m 76 and just started lesons again after nearly 20 years off and I love my teacher. But your presentation of the easy chords, and the explanation of the pivoting has been so helpful! I also have started your finger exercises. I'm going to go to your website to see if there's something I can purchase to put my money where my mouth is! Thank you and blessings!
Hi Terry! Do glad you are finding my method useful. I do have a full course:

Thank you!
I love the way you teach. Me and you are starting a journey of learning the guitar. The way you show how, I know I'll be playing songs in no time
Thanks for watching! Keep playing!
My dad passed away December of 2021 and I inherited his guitar. Besides his wife and daughters it was his prized possession. I have been feeling his guitar wanting to be played again so I am definitely going to learn with your videos because you make it so easy.
Awww! I am happy to help!
The simplicity of Laurens teaching methods makes learning to play easy, a pleasure & is motivational. The more successful a student is with each lesson the more they will enjoy playing & practicing. Thus a student will become proficient quickly prompting him/her to continue.
It's worth it to start lessons with Lauren.
George, thank you again kindly. I hope you inspire other students.
I purchased guitar 6 months back, but almost gave up playing its so difficult,But you made it so easy that I started practicing again with your easy chord lesson. Many thanks to you.
I’m glad I found your videos! Love the way you break things down and I was glad to finally see someone actually explain how a capo changes the pitch of the chords.
Thank you so much for your courses and for your work with older beginners!
Glad it was helpful!
I am a piano musician 40 + years. I just started training at a community college. Instructor is not as good as a teacher as you. Thank you for your ministry and helping this veteran. I need this so I can play and perform the new style of praise and worship and write new songs.
Glad to help Larry. :)
So. Cool
Can’t thank you enough. Just found your videos. Have been trying to teach myself for the last 4 years.
Jan, welcome to the channel. So happy to help you on your guitar journey.
I've been "learning" guitar since I was a teen. I started up again recently and this is the best video I've seen. I love your "easy" chords for my old hands.
Wow, thanks!
You just became my new best friend! Thank you! and thank you for teaching me 4 new "easy" chords to get my fingers broke in and stretched out for stronger days. What you taught me in one easy lesson about the kapo just gave me the confidence to use a kapo and the knowledge to know why. You're the best!!!
Rock on! Happy to help!
I've seen so many beginners easy this and easy that , Your teaching is amazing and absolutely worked , my playing is transformed and more importantly I can't wait to continue learning !
Glad you enjoyed the lessons
You have an incredible gift for teaching. It’s one thing to have a skill like playing guitar, but it’s a whole other thing to be able to share that ability with others. You understand the easily intimidated mindset of a beginner, and this lesson really strips down learning how to play and makes it accessible to people with no musical experience. Thank you so much for this video! 😊
Aww thank you very much Matt!
after watching couple of your videos and reading some amazing comments i would say you are super creative tutor, you don't just deserve only likes or comments but also your videos should be shared and mentioned in specially a ton of thanks
Thank you so much 😀
I finally bought my first guitar at 46 years old and am starting with this video today. Thank you Lauren for breaking it down in more manageable sequence. Greetings from Singapore!
Glad it was helpful! Hello Singapore!
I’ve been so frustrated until I found your videos ! Not only are you the best teacher on TH-cam but you also are the prettiest !!! Great voice also I love when you sing the chord you play it’s magical!!!
Aww thanks Brady!
@@LaurenBateman Well deserved, haven’t been able to make a single chord after almost a month of TH-cam videos and 2 different IPhone Apps, I literally can play and transition between 3 chords now after one of your videos ! Your in person students are very fortunate to have you !
Thank you Lauren I really like this 4 easiest chords
You're welcome!
U are a groovy teacher to break it down, in two finger style. I am so glad I stumbled into your TH-cam channel. Yes, been attempting to teach myself for 3xyrs with the 3 fingers way, an still haven't been able to play any sings, just melodies. I subscribe an re motivated to learn how to make my Fender 🎸 talkin ❤
So happy to be helping you!!!
I watched so many videos for beginner, this is the best I've found.
Glad it was helpful! Welcome to the channel Danny
You are best, Lauren! You make learning fun, easy to understand, and confidence building. Thank you! With your teaching and encouragement, I know I will succeed this time.
Yay! Thank you! You got this!
I really appreciate you taking your time and repeating steps so we master it thank you for helping all of us 😊🙏💕
You've got it!
I've been struggling to find someone who can help me learn the chords properly and by far this is the best tutorial/ guide I've received on TH-cam , now I can finally practice and get better, thank you Lauren! ❤️
Glad I could help!
I have watch many guitar lessons on TH-cam. I gained more from this than ever before. Thank you.
You're very welcome! Really glad it helped :D
Fantastic lesson, thank you for taking your time to share, made all the difference to me.

This is my first week of learning to play a guitar. This was by far the most helpful and easy to follow along video I’ve watch! Thank you!

Thank you so much!! I've just started learning guitar since yesterday and was struggling with chords and fingering position but now I'm doing good...your lessons are super helpful for me!!
Happy to help!
I am just about to get a guitar and learn from a teacher physically. Watching this is for me to get ready for it. So I am grateful to this tutor, I will always come to digest more. God bless you.
Hope it helps! Good luck with your teacher.
Brilliant Lauren. Wanted to learn the guitar for several years but never got around to it Two reason I didn't, one everywhere I looked made it seem so difficult because of the level I was at and the other, how could I control two hands so far apart.
You are an amazing teacher and make it so easy to understand with your patients.
I picked up a guitar a week ago 24/09/22, With your teaching method been able to play these four chords from memory, not great I admit, but much more than I thought possible it such short time. Thanks Lauren
Glad to know!
My first guitar lesson and I'm actually excited about this journey that I'm about to take
special; thanks to Lauren Bateman
James you got this!!!!
To all beginners, Lauren should be your go to!!!!Lauren, all I have to say is thank you for being so amazing! I told my husband that I wanted to learn how to play guitar and he surprised me with an early Christmas present a week ago. I went into this not knowing anything and watching a few videos before finding you. Those videos are nothing in comparison to your teaching. I started with the video of becoming familiar with strumming and moving your fret fingers. Now I am learning chords! 💗
So happy to have you!!!!!!! Yes. This is what my channel is all about. Making the guitar make sense so you can have more fun. Have you checked out the full course yet? If not, www.laurenbatemanguitar.con/courseyt
Hello,I am music teacher from Nairobi Kenya.Your videos have been very helpful to me.
Glad to hear that
I think out of the three videos I've seen today from you Lauren, this one was the most helpful. Two things stand out to me. First, you showed an Easy D, which I was looking for to play. The second was how you mentioned the transition between Easy G and Easy D, which I didn't know before. The sequence of chords G Em C Em also is helpful so I can get used to playing. I have in my head now about how to get better playing Amazing Grace, which I hear is a great song to play at the beginner's level. I wrote down on paper the chords so that I can begin to memorize them. This video is really, really good, so thanks for the time and effort you put into it.
Michael, so happy to help!!!!
Fantastic class. Use
to play a little, it's been years.
You rock! I'm 65 yrs old and have been attempting to play for a few yrs now. I worked as a welder/construction so my hands are a mess, all 4 fingers try to go to one fret. Your techniques for older people are great. I am finally making progress. I don't want to be the lead guitarist in a R&R band I just want to have a little fun. THANK YOU.
Amazing. Love it Donald. That's what it's all about.
@@lancslass8 Hi Shiela, I thought I was making decent progress. I had "Wild Thing" down pretty good when I broke my left wrist, pulled tendons and ligament and have deep tissue trama. Probably will never pick up another guitar. I'm 6'6" about 250 lbs and my poor wrist is what I landed on when I fell. Good Luck with your playing. It is fun.
Yes...finally a good video! this lesson with simplified chords helped so much motivationwise to continue learning guitar...two thumbs up Lauren!
Rock on. That's the point. Get you motivated to succeed. Glad you liked the video.
Will definitely come back for more! I just roughly did a version of perfect by ed sheeran and i was pretty proud of myself thank you so much lauren!! 🤗
Oh that's awesome!!!
Hey Lauren. I am a pianist, have played the piano for 40 years. I fell in love with the guitar when I attended an awesome concert (John Mayer) togethers with my son. I thought that the guitar was too difficult for me, tried it and was not impressed. But your lessons are really good and I’m looking forward to practicing further...... 👍🤗 Thank you
Elisabeth, wow. Thank you so much. Glad it helped you. John Mayer is great.
'Practice until your fingers bleed' is a statement I have heard several times over the years. That goes pretty far but practice until they at least hurt ......... a lot.
Thank you Lauren. As a beginner this was invaluable and so well explained
just my first guitar at 53 .... struggled to play anything till i came hear ,,,, within 15 mins i made my guitar sound great with 4 simple tricks .... thanks and big thanks .... ile be back 👏👏👏👏
That's great! Keep on practicing and you will definitely get it.
I just discovered the over 50 tips. The hair dryer on my hands to warm up is my fav. I have Parkinson's a warming my hands is very helpful. I'm still working on horse with no name ha ha! But I won't give up. Thanks for the tips

You'll want to get there eventually, but this is a good first step.

Complete newbie and you are the ONLY person I found to actual go slow and speak to me Barney style. Thank you.
You're welcome;
I’m right handed and severely injured my left pointer and middle finger, so I picked up the guitar for physical therapy to get movement back in them. I’m so glad I found ur content bc you make learning less overwhelming. Thank u thank u thank u 🙏🏻
Glad you found my lessons helpful
Hi Lauren, I'm an 84 year old guy who is determined to learn guitar, at least enough to strum a few chords to popular songs. Your teaching method and close ups make it the most effective teaching technique I have found on line and in person lessons. I wish you were in South Florida. My biggest problem so far is muting strings due to the heel of my hand touching the strings and I'm finding it difficult to overcome no matter where I move my thumb. Any suggestions? BTW, the icing on the cake is that you're also the prettiest guitar instructor I have ever seen.
Larry, hello! I actually just landed in Miami today for a conference. That's a very common problem you have and unfortunately, there are many possible reasons for this. Most likely it is your wrist placement. I will try to explain this as best as possible. What I want you to do is to drop your fretting hand down to the side and then bring it up to your guitar around the neck. This is the most natural position for you to hold your guitar. You also want to make sure that the body of your guitar is straight up and down not lying at an angle on your stomach.
@@LaurenBateman Lauren, Thanks so much for your reply. Wish I knew you were in Miami or I would have driven down from Delray just to say hello in person. In any case, I'm concentrating on keeping the guitar angled neck up and even bought a wide strap that helps me do that while standing and even sitting, but I guess it just needs more concentration and practice time. This is not going t o be an easy task but I know it's worth it if i can stay the course.
Thank you thank you thank you! I've had multiple guitars for years and a ton of books but have had trouble getting started or even where to start! It made such a difference having someone guid me along. Thank you! I look forward to watching more of your videos❤️
Happy to help!
Been struggling with finding a place to start with a guitar and been frustrated with trying to get 3 fingers going, these two finger cords built a lot of confidence, feeling better about taking this new hobby on. thank you.
Thanks for watching! Keep on playing!
Hi Lauren, I am an absolute beginner. I keep the tuner on my guitar and when Im practicing these chords im watching the tuner all the time to see if the chords im playing are right if you know what I mean? It is getting me frustrated though because most of the time Im not playing them right as different notes come up on the tuner. Sorry to everyone if I sound daft here and this is not what I should be doing at all. Im attempting to teach myself through youtube!
Yes because when you play chords you are playing multiple notes and strings. I doesn't work that way. Only one string at a time.
Day 1: Learning Guitar with no musical experience
everyone starts at day 1
Thank you for this. I have watched a bunch of beginner videos and have put the guitar down hopeless. You are so easy to follow and the two figures helps SOOOO MUCH. I will be following you!

That's great! Glad to hear that you got back to playing again and found my lessons helpful :D Thanks so much.
Omg, this is the lesson I needed. How you demonstrate anchor points has given me hope. I couldn't wrap my brain around the transitions. Thank you.

Awesome!!
I'm a bass player, fine on the bass playing fretted or fretless, however for years I've struggled with learning chords in my quest to learn a play chords on a 6 string acoustic or electric. Welcome to the channel! Make sure to subscribe.
Everyone can learn eventually, but it's how their taught that makes a good guitarist, You Lauren are a brilliant teacher. You've managed to teach an old drummer some chords, and I didn't hit the guitar once.......well, maybe tapped it, it's always been bongo's with wire on it in the past .
Aww thank you so much! I am glad that you are able to learn from my videos. Just keep on practicing and happy learning!
I got my guitar a couple of days ago. I spent a few weeks while I waited for it to ship to accumulate some exercises and watch as many beginner videos as I could, but THIS method is what has me working toward playing an actual song. Thank you!
That is awesome!
I have watched other videos, and I couldn't even get the EM right. Until now, thank you so much!❤

Hi Lauren using both of your beginner guitar lessons. Practice, Practice Thank you.
Keep it up!
I'm teaching my grandson how to play and I'm so thankful for the "easy" as his little hands have trouble reaching with the fingers
Hi Lauren.
No wonder, U left scientific research for teaching guitar. U still r into real research only, in crafting guitar lessons for beginners & others, foreseeing it's futuristic application too. Ur r a real researcher, lucky v r, for being blessed with and benefitted from ur beautifully designed lessons.
I go through all ur lessons, then I fall back to initial lessons, find something new again to learn. And I feel great. I started spending at least 3 hours listening to U & practising guitar everyday. I feel great and contented. 😊. Thank U. I owe u, for ur role, in my value addition. 🙏🙏🙏.
Thank you!
This is my first time playing guitar and this has made everything easier. I was about to give up watching all those 3 and 4 finger chords on YT but this helps a lot thx ❤
Great to hear that 😀 Keep on rockin'!!!
