      I made it but with only a quarter of romaine - added more baby spinach and it was actually really nice. I’m guessing the 2 heads of romaine would make it taste a lot bitter/greener aka healthier though.

      @@MomJeansReads you're making two at a time so probably Romaine $4 apple .60 banana .25 pear.80 and whatever greens you have or want to add. Divide cost by 2

    “I have it for breakfast at about 10-11 in the morning.” I’m so glad I’m not the only one that eats bfast at that time. Like how do y’all eat bfast at 7am. I could neverrr

      It's because of a hormon when you sleep you build it up. And in the morning for some folks it's hard to reduce that hormon. It's called Melatonin. 4 example it makes it harder for me to swallow some food in the morning. Edit, it's to avoid becoming hungry whilst you're sleeping. :)

      This is the “new” intermittent fasting most of us who don’t eat first thing (except for coffee) have been doing forever. We don’t eat past 6 pm and I don’t eat before 10. My husband has a couple of hard boiled eggs and coffee because he can, but still not before 6. So we have without effort, completed a 12 hour fast every day. When you have eliminated white sugar from your fuel, it’s amazing how life-changing it is.

    Kerry was totally and positively right about what she told you, I lived for one year in 2014 eating lettuce drinking a green smoothie like what you just did and not only my face became smooth and I looked younger than my actual age but also my blood test results went so good, the vitamins on my body went so well, my iron is not very low, and I didn't need to panic on anything. I am planning on going back to the exact same green smoothie that I used to drink before

    Hey Reese, We do almost the same everyday since 2012, all organic. We put in a couple slices of lime, including the peel, apple or banana or pear with some blueberries then celery, cucumber, raw beet (couple of nice slices), lettuce (whatever is in the fridge & right now we're growing our own) We don't use any juices but sometimes some organic greek yogurt to the mix, turmeric, ginger, maca, chia, collagen, protein powder. This is how we break our fast at about noon each day. Just thought I'd offer up some alternative. Thanks for your advice as I forgot about the flax. I have Lupus & RA & Hashi's & this turned it around and I hope it can do the same for others. Again thanks for posting as sometimes I think people just don't know how to get started.

    Love this smoothie! Skeptical at first but still tried it, I’ve been drinking this every morning for a month and my skin has never been this clear. My face is clear, my arms and legs don’t have those little bumps anymore. My smoothie usually ends up a little thick for my taste so I’ve been thinning it out with a bit of water at the end but definitely going to keep at it. It’s delicious!

    Lemon seeds are bitter, so it's better to remove them if you can. I halved this recipe, which is good because the full recipe wouldn't have fit in my inexpensive Oster blender. It was really tasty. You could probably skip the coconut water, but it def adds aromatics and I'll keep using it if I have it on hand.

    The smoothie was actually made famous by Kimberly Snyder and so many people drink it - it's amazing! I use the same recipe and sometimes, I add a some green tea and scoop of green powder to mine (a powdered blend of kale, alfalfa, moringa, spirula and wheatgrass) and instead of lemon, I use lime juice. My skin is clearing up (also coz I've cut down on sugar and drink more water as well), I'm full for quite a long while (I usu. have breakfast at 6am) til around 10am and its great that your body doesn't expend as much energy trying to break down your breakfast (which can feel exhausting).. Big thank you to Reese for sharing this video (Kerry Washington also spoke about this smoothie in her Architectural Digest video)

      Don't the chia seeds remain 'seedy' in the drink? I hate that feeling which is the same reason why I have trouble using strawberries and blackberries in my smoothie.

    Green smoothie recipe:
    2 head's romaine lettuce
    1 stick of celery
    1/2 cup spinach
    1/2 cup of coconut water
    1 whole banana
    1 whole pear
    1 whole apple
    1 whole lemon
    1 TBS of peanut butter

    Vitamix comes with a plastic “tamper” to use to push down the ingredients. It’s designed to stop just short of the blades. Not sure why Reese doesn’t have one. I LOVE my Vitamix!!! It is awesome!!! I’ve had mine for 25 years, since 1996 - super durable! I just bought a new, smaller blender container and half-size tamper from them. It fits well under cabinets and is good for single servings.

    Smoothie looks delicious!
    Hint: If you have a Vitamix & something happens to your jar or plunger call the number on the back of your blender. They will replace it for a new one. I learned this through experience 😀

      It is Kimberly’s smoothie. I forwarded this to KImberly when saw it the day it was posted and since then KImberly has posted this video on her social media. Whether other people were telling her also or she saw it herself, I’m not sure.

    Made this today and it was DELICIOUS! Very filling. If you don't have a vitamix.. it will be a workout. I have a nutribullet RX which is pretty darn strong but because there's not a ton of liquid in this, it took me about 3 blends. May need to add a bit more coconut water to get it moving next time because the blender heats up when it blends and makes the smoothie really hot.

    I tried it, it tastes really nice it’s just very grainy in texture and I left it to blend for a good 2-3 minutes. But at least there’s lots of fibre innit

    I must say I did this recipe except I didn't have Romain lettuce or a pear so substituted with kale a cucumber and it is great. So refreshing and tasty 😋

    I use kale, collard or dandelion greens, frozen fruit and unfiltered apple juice. Sometimes I add wheat germ. Yum! I use only dark green greens, not lettuce.

      Romaine lettuce works well as a base. I sometimes use half romaine lettuce, half spinach/kale/collard greens.

    That’s quite a lot of romaine lettuce! I make mine with probably 1/3 or 1/4 the amount of greens. Sometimes I’ll use water and orange juice for liquid amount. And if you got something bitter use some raisins to sweeten. 🤓

    You can also use just half a grapefruit or half an apple plus liquid stevia(nicks berry or vajila)to avoid the fructose. Plus collage powder. Yammy

    Wonderful video. Naturally, Vitamix has a tamper that safely pushes down the ingredients. Also, you don't want to shake the Vitamix container, to get the food to mix. I did this for several months, after watching Dan McDonald do this. It strips the metal mechanism at the bottom and causes it to leak. You need to use the tamper. Also, using the tamper will help mix more quickly and not over blend or over heat the ingredients. (especially if you are not using frozen fruit or ice cubes.)

    I just bought a Vitamix at Target so I could make this. She must have a bigger one because mine holds 48 oz. and I could not fit all of that in there, I had to do it in batches. It was surprisingly good though!

    Just a word to the wise: 1/2 a cup of spinach per day will, most likely, lead to kidney stones in your lifetime. Spinach is incredibly high in oxalate. Try and limit spinach consumption, and when you do have it, combine it with calcium (for example by putting low-fat Greek yoghurt in the smoothie); the calcium and oxalate will bind in the intestines before reaching the kidneys, mitigating the risk of stone formation.
