I have the R400 on my WRX with factory hangers and used your zip tie trick. It was super easy, looks perfect now and been on there for over a year with no issues. Great tip!
Thanks Kavin! Definitely excited to hit 1k. I can see why so many youtubers make a big deal out of it. If I had stuff to give away to celebrate, I totally would. All I have are some lug nuts, haha.
Great videos!!! I'm also getting an Maperformance J pipe. What catalytic converter did you choose? The regular one, or the "Gesi" cat that costs a few more dollars? Really like the sound of your car!!
originally got it with that ma stage 2 package, the jpipe and intake plus their map. If I were to do it again, I'd go with GS hands down, I dig their quality a lot more.
Another thing I wanted to ask seeing it wasn’t listed in your mods. Any thoughts on the Perrin turbo sump restrictor? I know you mentioned smell and for $30 right now on sale seems like it would be a worth while mod. Less smell = 😃
For one, I like the sound more. I had the boomba for about a week and that flutter was not at all what I expected. It sounds more like an exhaled laugh than a nice turbo flutter i wanted. The Txs bpv sounds has a similar flutter at very low boost/throttle %, but then it has the typical pshh sound mostly. It always sounds different and I like it. If i were to pick one besides that one, I'd just go back to the stock bpv as that sounded good too with my intake. The other reason is the overly stiff spring in the boomba bpv which made me concerned. No idea why they did that, but if you held one in your hand and tried to press the piston in, it's nearly impossible. The stock and the Txs are the same spring softness and you can press the piston in with ease. That makes more sense to me that an aftermarket one should be similar to stock, just better. If the spring is too stiff and doesn't allow the piston to open enough, then the pressure escapes through a narrow opening which explains the flutter sound.
some people are ok with that, but it bugged me a ton how this exhaust fit. Make sure you use the heavy duty ones that are super strong, otherwise they'll snap.
Hi, THESHADDIX I have a Subaru WRX 2018, I want to install, Invidia J-Pipe and Invidia Dual N1 Catback Exhaust, will this produce a good sound in my car?
are your tips touching the plastic at all? i see the top looks good but what about the outer or the inner part of the plastic? mine are touching on the outer just a hair. is your plastic (diffuser) still in good shape?
The r400 sounds great! A bit louder than my grimmspeed jpipe and Cobb exhaust, but I think yours sounds better. Was that alcantara hard to do on the steering wheel?
It was easy to stitch on, but very time-consuming (about 4 hours total) due to the lack of initial stitches that are usually found on wraps like this. If it had the stitches, then it's about an hour or so of labor to run your thread through those. I had to manually find each small hole to put the needle through. I would not wanna do that again! Way nicer to drive with this wrap though, no doubt. It's authentic alcantara.
That's the best part of the wrap: don't need to remove anything, stitch it on while sitting in the driver seat! I did it in my parking lot. Just need a good amount of light. The dude who made this wrap for me, he doesn't seem to want to do these as I referred someone to him and he didn't seem too interested as his focus is shift boots and stuff. He made the wrap for me sort of as a favor after I bought those 2 boot pieces. You can hit him up on IG (@topstitchtrim), never hurts to ask. But you could also hit up anyone on ebay who makes wheel wraps or any sort of upholstery for cars and ask them to make you one. The overall length for the wrap needs to be around 42" if i recall correctly (you should measure yours to be sure), and the girth is 4.25", but you need to subtract about 2 inches from the length as you want the wrap to be super duper tight on the wheel when you first put it on so that the outer part gets stretched and the inner part remains the same to avoid wrinkles and bunching up. This is where you need to ask how stretchy their fabric is and subtract accordingly (1 or 2 inches tops). This wrap doesn't fit 100% so there are gaps in thick grip areas which explains the cheap price, but if you want something that fits perfect, you'd have to buy it from redline goods, but that's over 200 bucks... I paid 35 for mine. Mine was supposed to be a temporary solution anyway. Ideally I'd want to replace the whole wheel at some point. Just not sure what to do with those buttons on it as I don't want to lose the cruise controls.
@@TheShaddix again thank you for the detailed response. I'm fine with wrenching, but when it come to detail work like stitching I will be out of my element a bit. As far as replacing the wheel, I know subiepeed has a couple to choose from. You can buy the wheel that is from the sti type ra for around 450$.
Hey bud, you know you probably could’ve got the same results with a set of STI hangers. They’re made of a harder rubber compound... All the major aftermarket brands make them as well.
r400 is my favorite for sound and look, for sure. Even if there is a system that sounds better, none look as good. I have a turboXS bpv. All the mods are listed in the description.
Where in Cali do u live at im running the turboxs catted jpipe and the r400 but it seems quiet my old setup was a res delete with a muffler delete axleback on the stock jpipe and it was loud af but this seems way quieter. The pops sound a little weird too I’d like to hear urs in person
@@gxxvmsxl1646 thing is, I'm going to long Beach the night before and then going to the show from there, so can't cruise. But come by once you're there
If the spt one is a muffler delete, then the r400 is way quieter. If you put this exhaust on a stock wrx or sti, it sounds very deep and quiet. It starts to get louder once you change the jpipe, especially a catless one. Then if you do a res delete, it's even louder.

BPV... that's a sic sound!

Music 2 my ears😍
Great vid, keep up the good work.
Subscribed. 👍
Sounds really good bro
Thanks man
Damn that sounds nice! I’ve been thinking about trading my truck for my first wrx and if I do I’m getting this exhaust!
Love it! With the BOV, what type do you have? Does it play around with how the car runs? Thanks! 👍🏽
It's a bypass valve by turboxs, and no, it does not change anything about the performance, just sound.
Great videos!!! I'm also getting an Maperformance J pipe. What catalytic converter did you choose? The regular one, or the "Gesi" cat that costs a few more dollars? Really like the sound of your car!!
Have the same exhaust in a STI Hatch. Yours is much quieter.
it's louder in person
Totally great...
Easier way to do it is to bend the exhaust hangers down to raise the tip closer to the bumper
Yeah right. Good luck doing that precisely
@@TheShaddix cheater bar helps out a lot!
What other 2 gaskets did you use between the mid pipe and down pipe?
There are also stainless cable ties that would be more durable
Love the set up. How’s the cabin noise and drone with the windows up?
The drone was pretty bad at first, but a few days later I actually didn't even hear it anymore. It's something you get used to very quickly.
@@TheShaddix Awesome, thank you!

I installed one recently. Helped with the smoke a lot, but not with the smell.
Which bpv specifically? That one sounds great. I have almost all the same parts awaiting a tune
Fully recirc. Turboxs bpv

Zip ties !?!!? Omg your a genius my right muffler is perfect but my left one is slightly off center people don’t notice it but it drives me nuts

I ordered R400 thinking of adding the MAPerformance catted J Pipe - how' the drone on the highway at like 80 mph?
bad on your first drive. You get used to it within a day or so.
Hi, THESHADDIX
I have a Subaru WRX 2018, I want to install, Invidia J-Pipe and Invidia Dual N1 Catback Exhaust, will this produce a good sound in my car?
I have no idea. How would I know if I have a different setup?

are your tips touching the plastic at all? i see the top looks good but what about the outer or the inner part of the plastic? mine are touching on the outer just a hair. is your plastic (diffuser) still in good shape?
