Clean WRX. I also got a CWP 2018 WRX. My shit got hit by a cart in a parking lot though and the fender got a nice dent. The body shop quoted $552 dollars hopefully Petsmart covers it :(
oh man, exact same thing happened to my old car (at that time it was a brand new lexus is350!). I come out of a store and see a cart rolling straight into my door. Super frustrating. Since that moment I park away from any possibility of that happening again, usually super far from any store, in a corner. I'd rather walk the distance. Just call one of those paintless dent removal mobile crews, they'll drive to you and fix the dent for about 80-100 (i guess depends on the dent). Petsmart can't really do anything about this sort of thing, so I wouldn't count on their support.
TheShaddix i did park all the way in the back. It was a windy day, and they were negligent they don't have cart corrals or anything and there where carts EVERYWHERE i tried to park as safe as possible, but sadly it still happened. I was informed they should cover it because they didn't take the extra steps in order to prevent it from happening it's called Duty to Protect or something like that. They claimed they didn't have cameras or anything. I guess that only time will tell. The body shop did quote it to repair and repaint the entire panel for that much. Much rather not have a respray because the colors on our cars are kinda hard to replicate. I'll probably try to find a reputable PDR person around me.
NolanLikesRs definitely sounds like their fault then, but to prove that without a video is really hard. It'll require a lot of pushing from your side so they feel like they'd rather just pay for the repair than deal with an angry customer. This paint is indeed not easy to match. You get that pearl ratio/type wrong and it'll just look way off in the sun. If all you have is a dent, then it's an easy fix. If there is some clear coat scuff, it'll buff out.
Shaddix- My son just peeled the plastic WRX and Subaru lettering off with hair dryer and floss. How did you get the glue off? We are trying bug-and-tar remover by TurtleWax and a credit card. It's not coming off easily...Please advise!
Try using masking tape (orange one from home depot) and just stick it on & peel it off quickly. Keep doing that to remove all of the residue. Works in 99% of cases! Do not use any harsh chemicals like alcohol as that'll dull out your clear coat.
Nah, just some canyons here and there, mostly street driving for fun. It has a pretty easy life, no abuse. If I were into track, I'd get a different car altogether (like a toyota 86) and focus on handling. I would not bother with the engine mods. The best is to have a totally stock engine if you track it, so if anything goes bad with the drive train, you're still under warranty. It's not fun when you have to worry about things breaking.
Hey man quick question. Before getting protuned at phatbotti did u install everything a week before or what is the process that u did? I am planning to get to stage two then get a protune.
I installed everything in 2 days, then got a base etune and did a lot of revisions with Ron to get it ready for the dyno. I suggest you contact him first, set up your dyno appointment and ask for a base map for all the mods you gonna have. Then install them
@@ronniedarko2536 you'll hit that power with no problem if you get the same or similar mods. Most importantly, the tgv delete and egr unplug, the ebcs, jpipe, exhaust, and intercooler. These make the most gains. Intakes, chargepipes, etc make the least if any
I'll be a first time Subaru buyer here in a few months. I'm stuck on buying the STI, but I feel if I go with the WRX I could spend a good amount buying parts to mod it since I won't spend a good 9K extra on the STI Both seem great, however I would really like to go with the sti since it has so many more features to it, but modding the WRX to how I would like it and even faster than the stock STI with the money saved would be awesome suggestions welcome, thx
I am biased towards the wrx, so that would be my pick over an sti. One main reason is the engine. Drove both when I was in the market and the wrx was the one I was more excited about (not right away, but the potential of it...). With an sti you'll be very excited for the first few days and then the monthly payment comes in and it's pretty high, so you will question your choice. The awd in the wrx is so good that I doubt you'd ever feel like the sti awd control system is even necessary. Not once did I drive my car and think I'd want to change anything about the awd system. At first glance the sti is more solid and stiff, the shifting feels more engaging, plus that rumble... The lime green brembo brakes, the wing, and so on. But you can do most of that to a wrx and feel more excited because you'll feel the differences with each and every small mod. Mine is super solid and stiff now and I did the work myself and know what each little mod changed. If I got an sti, it would just start off stiff and I would have nothing to do... I also believe strongly that aftermarket parts are in most cases better than oem, so a set of good coilovers just feels much better than the stock sti suspension, for example. The hydraulic steering with the tight ratio over the wrx electric steering is also another reason people bring up. But once you do a few mods to the wrx the steering just comes alive. Bottom line, if you pick an sti over a wrx, you'll still have fun. Just do yourself a favor and avoid driving heavily modded wrx's because the torque is just ridiculous and you'll get hooked instantly - it comes on early and throws you back into the seat and just keeps pulling. Feels way more powerful than the numbers would suggest. With around 300 wheel torque (when tuned) you'd never think the car needs more power unless your goal is to get more power, if that makes sense. The EJ, even a modded one, will feel like an NA motor with the boost starting around 4-4.5k and it's very linear with no awesome turbo shove. Couple that with really low mpg and you will question your choices for sure. Sti are awesome in their own way, but I am not interested in them until Subaru updates the engine. Back before the 2015 wrx was released it was an obvious choice to go for an sti, but not anymore. Who knows what the reasons were for not updating both simultaneously and releasing an FA25. If that were the case, I'd pick that, no question. Better feeling engine always takes priority in my book, not necessarily a bigger engine... For instance, I'd take a turbo 4 engine over any V6 engine in any car as it would always "feel" quicker in the lower rpm (where you spend 99% of the time daily driving). I hope this helps.
@@TheShaddix I appreciate the detailed response, I'll take all that into consideration. I have thought about getting the wrx so I can mod it how I want it to be. THX!
Bro fo u have any trouble with paint on your car? Any paint chips on the bumper? I have 2018 CWP and it gets dirty fast and i got a bunch of rock chips on bumper and headlight.
i wouldn't call it trouble, more like just normal paint issues. From all the cars I've had I don't think that subaru paint is that bad. I had a lexus before, got it brand new, in white, and it picked up soot and other crap so fast that all the edges on the exterior looked yellow. So I actually think this wrx white is pretty good as it only gets dirty. The main issue is that the clear coat is not as resistant and is pretty thin, so if there is any type of acid or harsh dirt, it'll eat into the coat and has to be buffed out. I get a lot of dirt that stays on/in the paint even after cleaning and detailing it, especially tiny black specs of dirt. No rock chips though. If you get rock chips, chances are it's the roads you drive on, not the paint. I had rock chips on all cars, there really is no defense against that. It's not the paint quality, it's how thick/hard the clear coat is and I am not surprised that wrx has a very thin clear coat. The key is to do a ceramic coating as soon as you can, or at least wax it once every few months. White paints just show stuff that normally would not be obvious on other paints, but is still there. This sort of thing doesn't bug me as much as it does other people, but I do want to do a ceramic coat. Just not sure which.
I prefer r400 over any other exhaust. Looks and sound are the best. Turbo back is just a type of exhaust. Technically, this r400 can be a turbo back exhaust if you run a catless jpipe. It becomes one single open pipe.
I've had open ended lug nuts for a while, haven't seen any rusting yet. To answer your question, I just like the look. If I find something close-ended, I'll switch. So far only rays has something I like but that's over 100 bucks.
Perrin is a better option due to the design. The GS one is known to have fitment issues with the radiator. Perrin fixed that by making the lower pipe smaller in diameter.
@@TheShaddix THX for the explanation and I appreciate your time. Just got done watching your Boomba SS install and I really enjoyed the music and video. Keep up the good work man!
Nah, believe it or not, never missed that car once I got the wrx. Got bored of that car within a few months of getting it. And it used to be a car I drooled over for years...
The sti shifter upgrade is the worst thing you can put into a wrx. I've driven a wrx with the stock shifter and it feels way smoother and better (just too soft overall).
The suspension mods and bracing will only benefit you if you are auto crossing your car. They might just be a waste of money for someone who doesn’t push their car that hard.
AZsubi_Rex 1 My buddy has had bone stock 15 @ almost 65k and doesn’t track autocross yet he has brake brace. Does make a difference in pedal which would make difference in any driving situation. Not to mention cheap easy and accessible.
I did not notice any difference with the master cylinder brace. Maybe there is some, it's just not enough to write home about. if your buddy noticed any, good for him! I wish I did too because that was a solid 100 bucks.
I drive my car in the canyons sometimes, but I don't go too crazy with it, by choice. Like you said, I just don't drive it hard enough where this extra 5% stiffness would be seen. The perrin 25mm sway bar made a huge improvement, same with my steering dampener lockout. I like that sort of mods when you see where your money went! The strut bar, the master cyl. brace, and the soku bushings are almost aesthetic mods on my car as no extra (practical) benefit was noticed. My brake pedal was spongy before and it is spongy now. I think my next mods should be stainless lines and new pads... I also think there could be an air bubble in my brake line because I keep hearing how solid it becomes if you rebleed it... So maybe this master cyl brace is wasted on me because of this reason.
TheShaddix I bet the sway bars are a huge benefit I’m looking at getting them for my car. But good build overall I’m getting my AP this week so it’s all down hill from there lol
yeah man, be careful! It starts with that little AP, and before you know it you got a jpipe, exhaust, coilovers, new wheels, etc. It only stops when you get all the mods you wanted. Then again, that is the beauty of getting a wrx. The extra $ saved goes directly into mods, not your pocket!
@@matthewrivera7413 The seller doesn't make them anymore. It's literally a generic wrap you can make yourself, just get alcantara on ebay. Mine is a long piece stitched into a circle.
I'm sure they do as I modified everything on the car. I wouldn't be going to the dealership to fix anything. I'd either fix it myself or go to a private mechanic of some sort.
went with the Whitleine sway bars and end links a few years ago in my WRX and never again!!! The end links were garbage and wore out in under 6 months!! Total joke!! Replaced by the company and the second pair lasted only a few months too.
Hmm, time will tell I guess. Mine are still fine. I spoke to whiteline on the phone and they told me a lot of people install these wrong. Not saying you did too. But I don't see how they would wear out so fast unless they are at an odd angle. They seem solid.
I got them on ebay. Just search for red aluminum hubcentric rings, easy to find. But they are unreasonably expensive. I paid 25 total. Worth it for me as the quality is just amazing.

Needs a driver mod, jk lol nice overview of mods
Can you send me a link to that?
Do you track this car? Would love to see some videos of it using its setup/power.
Can you please make a video on how to relocate the turn signal?
All you have to do is wedge the blinker bulb into the hole of the high beam and use liquid electrical tape around it.
TheShaddix Great idea! Thanks!
Then install them
TheShaddix cool man thanks i will do that and then hopefully i get the power that u have on your car. 🙏
@@ronniedarko2536 you'll hit that power with no problem if you get the same or similar mods. Most importantly, the tgv delete and egr unplug, the ebcs, jpipe, exhaust, and intercooler. These make the most gains. Intakes, chargepipes, etc make the least if any
Where can I get the white Subaru emblems? Or did you paint it yourself?
ebay, but not available anymore. I only painted the frame.
What paint did you use to paint the center of the hubs looking to do that this weekend
any paint will do, but I'd go with high temp.
I'll be a first time Subaru buyer here in a few months. I'm stuck on buying the STI, but I feel if I go with the WRX I could spend a good amount buying parts to mod it since I won't spend a good 9K extra on the STI
Both seem great, however I would really like to go with the sti since it has so many more features to it, but modding the WRX to how I would like it and even faster than the stock STI with the money saved would be awesome
suggestions welcome, thx
THX!
I might of missed it, but what are you running for wheel spacers?
Wheel spacers? None. Did you watch the whole video?
Which turboxs bpv? There’s 3. The recirculating, atmospheric or 50/50
Recirculating
Would you prefer the r400s over the turbo back?
I prefer r400 over any other exhaust. Looks and sound are the best. Turbo back is just a type of exhaust. Technically, this r400 can be a turbo back exhaust if you run a catless jpipe. It becomes one single open pipe.

Why open ended lug nuts? You're just asking for rust to play on your studs
I've had open ended lug nuts for a while, haven't seen any rusting yet. To answer your question, I just like the look. If I find something close-ended, I'll switch. So far only rays has something I like but that's over 100 bucks.
How come you didn't go with the GS charge pipe?
Perrin is a better option due to the design. The GS one is known to have fitment issues with the radiator. Perrin fixed that by making the lower pipe smaller in diameter.
@@TheShaddix THX for the explanation and I appreciate your time. Just got done watching your Boomba SS install and I really enjoyed the music and video. Keep up the good work man!
Where did you get your Hub Centric Rings?
ebay
Do you ever miss the M3?
Nah, believe it or not, never missed that car once I got the wrx. Got bored of that car within a few months of getting it. And it used to be a car I drooled over for years...
If I run 18x10.5 22 offset with no coilovers will it be alright once I roll the fenders
no, it will look like crap with over an inch of poke and you will still rub on driveways and high speed dips.
@@TheShaddix thanks so should I run 18x10 30 offset ?
If you can get that set of wheels, then yes, you should. But it's mostly rays
2nd time today i've heard a wrx stock short throw being compared to gravel LOOL
Where did you get the steering wheel wrap?
From someone on ebay, it doesn't fit that well so I can't recommend it.
@@TheShaddix Do you have the link for it?
@@matthewrivera7413 The seller doesn't make them anymore. It's literally a generic wrap you can make yourself, just get alcantara on ebay. Mine is a long piece stitched into a circle.
Do all of these mods void your warrant?
I'm sure they do as I modified everything on the car. I wouldn't be going to the dealership to fix anything. I'd either fix it myself or go to a private mechanic of some sort.
komonbredy you can always revert to stock of something goes wrong.. the dealer will know nothing 😈
You can revert back, but they will know about the tuning. There is no way to hide a reflash.
How tall is your shift knob? 3in or 4in?
3.5 inches.
went with the Whitleine sway bars and end links a few years ago in my WRX and never again!!!
What brand are your hub centric ring?
I got them on ebay. Just search for red aluminum hubcentric rings, easy to find. But they are unreasonably expensive. I paid 25 total. Worth it for me as the quality is just amazing.
