What the fuck, Schaaf. You ride like a madman without being antisocial, you set up your exposure and contrast absolutely fucking perfect, you manage to get well defined, not-too-sharp-not-too-soft absolutely epic vistas WITH enough motion blur in the foreground to get a very good sense of speed. How did this channel not land you a job yet.
I'm guessing it must be because only very, very, very few people like you exist out there. Almost no one on here would even be able to spot all of this you just listed. There is almost no demand on Social Media for content like mine. But I got one more year as student and we'll see what happens. Thank you for a very wonderful comment!
Spectacular. We did the Großglockner Hochalpenstrasse and the Passo Giau un July on an Edelweiss tour through Germany, Czech, Austria, and Italy. Unforgettable ride and scenery.
What a blast that was! I really enjoy the raw videos as they are what they are, warts and all !! What the hell are those two wheeled skateboard things at 17:40 and 19:38? I don't think i would enjoy riding one of those as they are just too enclosed for me. Thanks for another great video, As Always Ride And Speed Safe. Frohe Weihnachten Für Sie Schaaf. (I hope that's right)
It's so fun to watch you ride that CB500 like that :). You said you've got 9 years or experience in the video, that really shows. You ride really good with a lot of confidence! I almost have my motorcycle license, that CB500 looks like a good beginners bike.
By now I know that after watching one of your RAWs i want nothing more than go out riding. So I don't know why I even bother watching your clips in winter. But I guess I just can't help myself. Beautiful video once again mate!
Have done this run twice now first in 2006 and came back in 2015 and both times it was awesome, thanks for posting the video it brings back some great memories of the trips!!!
Very neat riding, liked how you were so fast with the entry and still in total control. You must be knowing the road very well. It was fun to watch. Thanks.
Goddamn dude. I've searched for Austria ride video to relax and fantasize that ill do it one day, now i have to get some diazepam hahahaha. Great ride, beautiful scenery!
so very beautiful! I've been there this summer, no words to describe an awesome place like that, the only way is just riding through those road, it was really good to see my holidays in your video schaaf!
Ah, my second home, I ski Kitzsteinhorn/Schmittenhohe/Saalbach-Hinterglemm 6 weeks each winter. Did the Grossglockner last summer in my cage. Won’t be complete till I find time to bring one of my bikes. Hmm... Suzuki Intruder M1800R (relax, enjoy the sights, scrape the pegs) or Kawasaki Z1000SX throw it around a bit.) Don’t have much time for the run out there though. Think you can also rent and pick up / drop off at the airport if you’re not fussy (the choice is BMW, BMW or BMW.)
I did it last week with, imho, the best weather possibile. Rain, snow, fog and heavy wind. Really this was a very high school 🙂, I suggest everyone to take the Grossglockner with bad weather
my favourite road EVER! Was there last year, stayed in Heilingblut, hoping for 2 days of fun. second day snowed, and the road was closed. :( can't wait to go back!! the roads around aren't bad either! great stuff as always, mate ;)
nice to see schaaf again riding my playground. :) the lack of grip on the road mostly isn't due to bad tarmac. it might sound a bit weird, but it's caused my the brake dust that the cagers, caravans and coaches leave behind, especially in the hairpins. you can easily feel the grip-difference after a proper rain.
very interesting to hear that. Although it rained very properly the day before - I might just be not experienced enough but for me grippy tarmac definitely looks and feels a lot different
I certainly don't consider 50K kilometers of total experience as "properly experienced" :) And when you are saying as local that the asphalt actually is good after lots of rain I'll believe you. It did rain a lot before I got there. But still I didn't feel as if I could go faster. I would say that's lacking experience then :)
i´d just call it less experience on that particular road, not in general. but you´re right, the "glockner" can make you feel unconfident at times. i also had a bunch of "interesting" moments there...you always have too keep your eyes open: salt, oil, brake dust and of course "mankei"-poop :D
I really enjoy your video's when they come out. The sceneries out in your neck of the woods are just stunning. When you hit what wet spot in the most scenic section I could see and feel the bike shift. I'll swap you your slippery, scenic, smooth roads for our Pothole, rough, different levels of bitumen, opposite camber corners of Australia. Cheers to you. Great riding , always feel like i'm there.
Friend of mine almost got wiped out on that road, he did a shimmy when his pannier touched a car. I'll be up there this year, (COVID permitting (not with him though!) Can't wait!
Great video! The landscapes are amazing! 😍 I wasn't expecting to see BMW C1s on this kind of road, but obviously the local C1 club had organized a "Do it like Schaaf" day. Some say one of them managed to put a knee down and took a selfie at the same time... 😉
I love your videos...so many people put music over them, which is ok if you like that particular music (Teapot One does the best music IMO) but hearing the engine is better - it makes it more real...more like I'm there. And Austria is one of the most beautiful countries...got the nightjet to Innsbruck and headed over to Italy earlier in the year; going to do it again but just play on the passes for days next time. Please keep up the great vids...it would be an honour to be passed by you one day! I'd like to think it wouldn't be too easy for you though haha!
The most epic scenery I've ever seen in my life.. such a beautiful place ever... thanks for your ride.. if i going there by ride.. for sure, I'll stopping too much because of taking pictures there ahahaha.. seriously so damn beautiful ... 😆
Great video and great sound !! I have done the Grosslockner last summer, fantastic road and great view. Should be nice to ride together sometimes. I live in Milano but in summer I often go to the Alps with my Kawa 1000
Amazing road ! Naughty boy at 4.00. Great ride. A savant mixture of dedicated riding mixed with great observation, anticipation and caution. You go fast when you can. You go slow when you can't see if it's safe. In short - a brilliant lesson. When I grow up - this is how I will ride ;-)
Awesome vid. Great riding, stunning views, gorgeous sounding bike! 😍 I'm doing a road trip later this year and part of my journey takes me from Bologna to Munich - I'm looking at all these gorgeous Austrian passes through the Alps and thinking "must go that way!"
Du fährst so schön ! Wahnsinn wie du so fahren kannst obwohl die wunderschöne Aussicht so ablenkt haha :) #onlybrakeifyouhaveto #ichwäreechtsehrhartausgerastetbeidemautofahrerim"tunnel" 😂
A bikers playground right there. Breathtaking piece of tarmac, with a stunning background A lot of mobile chicanes that day. Cheers Schaaf. How close are you to the edge of your abilities and the bikes? I hope your well within your talent range, and the bikes ability. It looks a close run thing though. Ride safe sir.
Hab seit ca 9:56 mal Rido/Rhythm of Life/Ignition dazu laufen.
Nice driving in a superb scenery! Not all dutch people understand the defenition of engine braking. We also have no mountains here in the Netherlands. Oooh wait, we have one; de Vaalseberg whit its 322m height 😄
Seems to me that you took too many chances riding that fast downhill. Especially if the asphalt was kind of slippery. Uphill, maybe I would ride that fast but downhill... brakes are like they don't exist.
I'm a bit late to this one 😅 Nice riding! I'm personally a bit intimidated by the thought of bringing a carburated bike to such a high pass... Looks like your bike managed just fine though! Have you ever experienced any trouble starting carburated bikes at such altitudes? Currently I'm considering getting a first gen r6, but I'm a bit worried about it's performance in thin air...
Thanks for another fantastic video. That comment at 7:47 is hilarious, but true. There is nothing more sinister than a robot Wiener going 60 in a fast lane on the highway because it is 'fast' comparing to his usual 30. Actually, there is - his dear neighbor going 59 in slow lane at the same time. But in their defense I met some people in Wien that could grasp the concept of sharing and caring for others, however they were not true Wieners, but from places such as St.Polten or Neunkirchen. :D :D :D :D :D
they usually are the more skilled car drivers actually because they learn to drive in a big-ass city. But for some the mountains can be a bit overwhelming indeed :D
Now being serious, that is true, plus they learn not to loose their nerves so easily. Waiting three times to reach and pass one traffic light during rush hour and then again and again until you get home is a proper patience development training, or a reason to get a bike. :D :D :D
oh my god ... The perfect weather and the perfect view !! Großglockner is so beautiful ... Hope the next time i will have this weather too ! :p Awesome ride broh ! :)
Have you ever tried riding on a track before? I'd think you would be pretty good at it. Anyways, loving the maniac on a CB, epic riding as ever. And as we say in Holland, graag gedaan ;)
Hey Schaaf. Is your "signature move" the quick flick I notice you do before every single turn? It's like a quick counter-steer to the opposite side of a turn just before you take the line. Thank you!
awsome vid schaaf . do you still have the cb500 ? if so how many km on it by now ? :) and OMG what a nice place to ride :D . pretty sure i would slow down and enjoy it more
FANTASTIC! ❤️ Some days ago I joined that GREAT AREA on my BiCYCLE 🚲. NO TRAFFIC 🚌 🚐 🚙🚗 🏍️ just COWS 🐮 (Thanks CORONA 😷) 😀. Best regards from AUSTRIA! 🏔️
Hi im about to live and travel Europe in my sprinter campervan with my DRZ in the garage compartment in the back! cant wait to get to these amazing roads in the alps but im not sure how toll roads work as i see on google maps this road has a toll booth at the bottom? how does the toll work on these roads? if i go in my van with my bike in can i park overnight at the top in the van and ride my bike on this road all day and stay in my van overnight? is it a 1 time fee (single price) or is it based on how long you've been on the road? thanks for any help with my questions!
Schaaf hi there Schaaf. May I tell you that back in January last year, I drank a small amount of sea water from Cape Jarvis which was surprisingly not salty as you may think. The reason why I chose to do that was because it was clean and pure. It too would upset me if I found garbage in the water
These kinds of videos never get the most views but they sure are my fovorite! I just added this place to my bucket list. Nice video as always :D
thank you mate!!!
Watching this mid December is pure torture..
Amazing as always Schaaf :)
thanks mate :)
Same feeling in January :D

Yes it is!! Danke vielmals ;) I'd accept the weird ass scooters though. But only on rainy days ahaha
You are by far one of the most skilled bikers on YT. You, RJ, and V-Told make this technical stuff look too easy!! Cheers!
thanks a lot mate!
It's so fun to watch you ride that CB500 like that :). You said you've got 9 years or experience in the video, that really shows. You ride really good with a lot of confidence! I almost have my motorcycle license, that CB500 looks like a good beginners bike.

thanks a lot and sorry :D
You ride like a maniac! : P Beatyfull scenery and vid bro.
By a custom rider
thanks
Love this althrough I think you may be riding a little bit too fast for the situation some of those corners got me really scared
thanks, I actually was holding myself back quite a bit ;)
Have done this run twice now first in 2006 and came back in 2015 and both times it was awesome, thanks for posting the video it brings back some great memories of the trips!!!
very welcome :)
I love the pops in the exhaust. They seem to be more audible this time. :)
yes indeed! The CB was talkative on that day ;)
wunderbar!! Freut mich! :)
the more times i watch this vid .. the more i think this road should be on my bucket list before its to late ..
Definitely
Endlich einmal ein Video ohne scheußlicher Musik. Danke!!
Bitte!
The level of Editing and the use of lens has surely made this video look epic af. Great work man!
thanks man
Who needs TripAdvisor when you have Schaaf videos :D beautiful country, can't wait to visit!
jahahaha on a scale from 1 to 5 pegs, 5 pegs being the best score, I'd give Großglockner road 3.5 pegs xD
I would be curious to know the ranking of your favourite roads... 😍
every road I've been on so far in Northern Italy: 5/5 pegs xD
Very neat riding, liked how you were so fast with the entry and still in total control. You must be knowing the road very well. It was fun to watch. Thanks.
thanks man
I've been to a lot of countries in North America, South America and Europe. Austria is by far my favorite. I would trade lives with you in an instant.
cool! But trust me, you don't want to trade lives. Just place of resident ;)
Your videos are helping with my bike withdrawal during this damn lockdown!!! Amazing roads and great riding.
Thanks a lot
When i am in bad mood i watch these old video of yours....it helps :DDD
cool! Thanks for letting me know!
That cb500 is such a good machine. You wring that thing out constantly and it seems to love it!
yes it does ;)
Solche Roads
freut mich sehr!!! Danke dir :)
I’m hopefully heading out to Austria in August on my GS. Staying in Kaunertal really looking forward to it assuming we can travel!
Fingers crossed! The Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße is also amazing to ride!
one of those rare mountain/moto videos I enjoyed watching
cool
Goddamn dude. I've searched for Austria ride video to relax and fantasize that ill do it one day, now i have to get some diazepam hahahaha. Great ride, beautiful scenery!
thanks

I did it last week with, imho, the best weather possibile. Rain, snow, fog and heavy wind. Really this was a very high school 🙂, I suggest everyone to take the Grossglockner with bad weather
These videos are a meditation. I feel the flow!
awesome!
my favourite road EVER! Was there last year, stayed in Heilingblut, hoping for 2 days of fun. second day snowed, and the road was closed. :( can't wait to go back!! the roads around aren't bad either! great stuff as always, mate ;)

Another great ride on stunning roads to make me jealous. 😊
Loving your style Schaaf, just the right balance of lunacy and caution. 👍
appreciated! Thanks Al!
Ahh those videos are so beautiful. Relaxing to watch before sleep.
A really good bike with a proper driver on wonderful roads driving fast.
awesome, thanks Lorenzo!
I really enjoy your video's when they come out. The sceneries out in your neck of the woods are just stunning. thanks a lot for another nice comment man!
Oh My God! Insanely awesome. A virtual reality full immersion video! Heart racing!
thanks Lisa!
Friend of mine almost got wiped out on that road, he did a shimmy when his pannier touched a car. I'll be up there this year, (COVID permitting (not with him though!) Can't wait!
wow...and WOW...what a nice road, very impressive, it seems like "Picos de Europa" montains roads in Spain.
like!!!
thanks a lot mate!!
And this, my friends, is how you ride the Grossglockner! :D
commitment!
Danke!!!! Und Prost! :D
Achja, übrigens: Wie kommts? 10:53
wie kommt was? :) Danke!
Woher kommt Holland? :)
Google Translate ;)
Nice roads a very noisy bike topping the 100kph mark lol what 125 bike is it or maybe a 250? Cracking video
the road and the landscape are very beautiful. Cool!
thanks!
You're welcome :)
Great video! The landscapes are amazing! 😍 I wasn't expecting to see BMW C1s on this kind of road, but obviously the local C1 club had organized a "Do it like Schaaf" day. Some say one of them managed to put a knee down and took a selfie at the same time... 😉
some say one of them managed to scrape its roof xD xD Merci Kiddo!!
Will be there in 3 weeks IA

Good Ride.

thank you very much Vitaly!!
That doesn't give him the right to behave like if the road belongs to him 1st. Arrogance could kill. Just saying
Atemberaubende Aussicht! Muss ich unbedingt mal hin.. natürlich gut gefahren, was kennt man auch anderes.. ;)
danke vielmals! Und ja, solltest du!!
Can't wait to drive my Evora there :)
sweet!
the hills are alive! with the sound of the cb500 exhaust! 😁sorry i just cant help it cuz the place reminds me of the movie sound of music.

LOL. If that was your coffee substitute, we get adrenaline shots all say long here in India.
Great views and great driving as always!!

Awesome vid. Great riding, stunning views, gorgeous sounding bike! 😍
I'm doing a road trip later this year and part of my journey takes me from Bologna to Munich - I'm looking at all these gorgeous Austrian passes through the Alps and thinking "must go that way!"

A bikers playground right there. Breathtaking piece of tarmac, with a stunning background
A lot of mobile chicanes that day. Cheers Schaaf. How close are you to the edge of your abilities and the bikes? I hope your well within your talent range, and the bikes ability. It looks a close run thing though.
Ride safe sir.
Feels like I was riding at 70-80% of my capabilities
Nice clip mate!!! Your going hard on that bike keep up the good work!!
thanks man!!

2:26 the netherlands are 100% flat so no wonder engine braking was not yet discovered there...
Tehehehe
That is indeed some Spetacular views. great ride thunbs up
thanks Sam!!
Nice driving in a superb scenery! Not all dutch people understand the defenition of engine braking. We also have no mountains here in the Netherlands. Oooh wait, we have one; de Vaalseberg whit its 322m height 😄
not bad!!! :O

Barely anything like that in the States. Nice riding
thanks
Dobry wariat z Ciebie, super się oglada!

Currently I'm considering getting a first gen r6, but I'm a bit worried about it's performance in thin air...
Yea, it loses around 20 percent of its power up there
That's less than I initially feared. Thanks for answering!
Hi. Do you have external mic under the seat? The sound is too good lol what's that sheep for by the way:)
it's in my backpack!
Will you reveal a secret which mic is this ? Please
Hello! Is it okay to feature your video in moto edit? You will get full credit for it. Cheers
thanks for asking but no

oh my god ... The perfect weather and the perfect view !! Großglockner is so beautiful ... Hope the next time i will have this weather too ! :p Awesome ride broh ! :)
yes at least now you know how the landscape looks left and right. Instead of just seeing grey grey grey :D Merci brother!
actually i really loved the grey too :p
But nice to see how this landscape can change a lot just by the weather ! :)
De rien mon gars !! :)
Have you ever tried riding on a track before? I'd think you would be pretty good at it. Anyways, loving the maniac on a CB, epic riding as ever. And as we say in Holland, graag gedaan ;)
I desperately want to but not as long as the CB is the only bike I own. But maybe next year I'll manage to borrow something for the track!
Hey Schaaf.
Is your "signature move" the quick flick I notice you do before every single turn? It's like a quick counter-steer to the opposite side of a turn just before you take the line.
Thank you!
awsome vid schaaf . do you still have the cb500 ? if so how many km on it by now ? :) and OMG what a nice place to ride :D . pretty sure i would slow down and enjoy it more
around 85K
Trotzdem danke!
FANTASTIC!
❤️ Some days ago I joined that GREAT AREA on my BiCYCLE 🚲. NO TRAFFIC 🚌 🚐 🚙🚗 🏍️ just COWS 🐮 (Thanks CORONA 😷) 😀.
Best regards from AUSTRIA! 🏔️
Sounds great!

Man, I really need to get some money together and fly over there and ride with you!! That view and that road is simply stellar!!!
YES INDEED!

You'll have to use a camping ground
ca. 4:00 .. damn ... ich nenne es mal 'mutig' xD
(y) super Video :)
schon OK :)
danke dir

Awesome. I love your content:)
thanks man!
english pls
