- Driving the famous Grossglockner High Alpine Road (Großglockner Hochalpenstraße) through Hohe Tauern National Park in Austrian Alps. Scenic drive from Fusch an der Grossglocknerstrasse (800m a.s.l) to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe (2369m a.s.l) coming face to face with the Grossglockner mountain (3798m a.s.l), lake Sandersee and Pasterze glacier. Distance travelled: 44 km (27 miles).

Less expensive compared with swizerland , more nature , more organized, more scenic views more activities as tourist , 10/10 Austria, beautiful land love from , Netherlands

Could not have said it better myself. First thing i noticed was how much neater Austria was to Switzerland & alot greener. I went on a few train journeys in Switzerland & i was really surprised just before St Moritz train station in how un-tidy it looked, i had heard it’s a luxury resort, i wouldn’t board my dog there haha!
Nah, the Alps look about the same across Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France... and at €43 toll price just for this road pass (+ vignette price), there's nothing "cheap" about it!

Don't get your hopes very high, this place only looks this lush green for about 2 months, mid-June to mid-August... it then starts to yellow quite fast, and is desolate or covered with snow for like 9 months!
And this applies to anywhere in the Alps above 1800-2000m, the Alps only look fully lush green for about 3-4 months, depending on the altitude
My late husband and I drove this back in the 1980s all the way to the top, stopped for coffee and then noticed clouds rolling in...immediately got back into our car and headed down to Austria...in pea soup. Beautiful but oh so frightening! Beautiful memories, thank you so much!

Ja Iris David, auch ich liebe meine Heimat! Und gerade in Zeiten von Corona kann man hier heroben der Enge unserer Städte wenigstens für kurze Zeit entfliehen und man ist dem Himmel etwas näher! Erinnere mich noch gerne an meine allererste Fahrt hinauf zum Fuscher Thörl mit einem betagten Crysler Simca, wobei mein Mädchen damals im Fond stand und sich im offenen Schiebedach den kühlen Fahrtwind ins Gesicht wehen ließ! Gott waren wir damals leichtsinnig! Aber mein Mädchen von damals ist noch immer an meiner Seite und mittlerweile auch schon 61! Schöne Grüße aus GU! 😍💖

One of my favorite car road trips ever, driving from Dokka - Norway in the middle of the 1980s. Next year in 2023 i will be back !

At 82, I find myself driving slower. Thus I also played this video first at 0.75 and then at 0.50, which allowed me to notice details that enhanced my enjoyment of your great video.
What with COVID-19, it seems that the safest modes of transportation are bicycle, motorcycle, car, and motorhomes. Planes, trains, and ships are out.
But we can still enjoy traveling with beautifully done videos -- with a minimum of dialogue and music but with natural sounds -- like yours!

Thank you for this video.. I rode Grossglockner in 2009, I think it had a single toll both back then, it is truly one of the world's best roads.. Was back in the Alps last September but could not manage to get there again..

Rode this on my motorbike in 2019, what a wonderful country... watching now in lockdown and hope to get back to the area in 2021!!

I thought only Switzerland has best serene driving experience in the world but Austria is no less interior at that count.
Tyrol looks like swiss...also southern Bavaria and Italian tyrol.

I am a kinda person who loves road trip, travelling. Amidst Corona outbreak neither I can't go to anywhere nor my parents permit me to go. After seeing this it gave some refreshing vibes Nd soothingness to my mind as well as my 💓.

Ich wollte mehr als einen Daumen hoch machen, aber ich konnte nicht (deprimierend). Ein wirklich gutes Video. Ich war schon ein paar Mal bei Grossglockner und mag es wirklich. Ich hoffe wirklich, dass dieses Korona-Chaos bis zum nächsten Jahr abnimmt, weil ich wirklich noch einmal nach Österreich reisen möchte. Ich liebe dieses Land und die Natur.

22.2.2022 Wien (dpa) - Österreich lockert seine Einreisebestimmungen. Ab Dienstag gilt beim Grenzübertritt wieder die 3G-Regel. Damit können auch Ungeimpfte wieder ins Land kommen, sofern sie einen negativen Test vorweisen

A great road indeed. I always book a room at Berggasthaus Wallackhaus when going over there, It's by the road down towards Heiligenblut, and has really nice views.
I try to go out at night with my camera, you are able to get some incredible pictures of the night sky from outside the property.
