@@bruwin I’m not an Apple hater but those displays are just outdated and not ergonomically. You can’t adjust the height and it’s very likely that this guy doesn’t have the display on the right height but you can put a vesa mount on it.

These Apple Thunderbolt Displays are pretty awesome! Btw, I have the original 2006 Apple Cinema Display that I got along with my 2006 Mac Pro that I recently upgraded as far as it can go. That 17 year old display still holds up great.

I have 1 thunderbolt display since college and still going strong 8 years later. Then last month decided to bought 1 in pristine condition for $200 and put it on my office. It mind-boggling when I was at the market for 27" QHD/1440p monitor with $200ish budget that my best option is 8 years old monitor from Apple. Aside from thick bezel the design is superb. Display is super crisp, it even come with decent camera and speaker.

These older apple displays are pretty well built, I’m still using the Apple Cinema HD display from 2004 and have no complaints. 1920x1200 is just a resolution that I can’t find at a reasonable price these days, and I definitely don’t want to downgrade to 16:9
Have a look at the Asus ProArt PA248QV. It's around $170 and comes with a 16:10 1920x1200, factory calibrated IPS panel with 100% sRGB+Rec. 709 color accuracy.
Over the years I have bought these used for a few hundred bucks each. We have SEVEN of them, two on my desk (either side of my iMac), two on my son’s desk, one on my wife’s desk, one in the garage and one on my wife’s desk at her school. They’re amazing!
Still using my Cinema Display I got a few years ago. I wish I had a 120hz screen and more resolution but there’s just no alternative when you’re looking for something sleek

We’ve still got one of these from our Mac mini in 2011. Just swap out the computer and the screen is still excellent. The only sign of age is it’s bezels.
Actually, if you go to your local hardware store or electronic store and get heat shrink rap. You can actually fix that cable. It's very common for that cable to actually deteriorate like that. Due to the rubber coating, the apple put on the cable. But you can bulletproof the cable by simply as pie
Well it’s just a basic thunderbolt 2 to thin bolt 2 cable which can be replaced to a usb c on one side opening the display and replacing by the cable I told you
Those monitors are god tier. Their resolution looks good and the bezels have never bothered me. If you get your hands on another one you could daisy chain them! I even made a stand to use my phone on it for continuity web cam.

Honestly? The ACD displays from 15-20 years ago are still great as well. I have one, and it does what I want it to do, but the Thunderbolt Display looks great too. I guess it depends on your preference and budget.

Unfortunately the 2015's had that feature dropped. We tried it on a few 2015's we used to have in the office. Apparently 2012 was the last year for Target Display Mode.
4K is unremarkable. 2.5K is just poor. Too bad these two options are still the vast majority of what you find even 8 years after 5K became the norm for iMacs.
Apple needs to make an affordable ultra wide. 40” and 49” version for under $1,500! The iMac and studio displays are too small and they are flat! Needs to be curved. I have a 34” and it’s too damn small so I need to still use my laptop screen 🙄. Wtf apple? I will say the new goggles are cool but not an adequate substitute with that price, size and battery life.
Never use a 1440p monitor with a modern Mac. The display scaling doesn’t match up and text will be extremely blurry. Apple removed subpixel antialiasing a few years ago which means you need a 4K or 5K display for macOS to look decent.

I just bought a pristine one as my second monitor for my 5K iMAC and I love it. It eve has a second camera. The original owner kept it really nice.

I have two 24“ Cinema Displays from 2010 in use and they are still amazing. Bright, great colors. Only 1920x1200 but work like 14 years ago.
