I'd be amazed if that iBook still worked. I just took my old Windows PC out of storage to play some games on it, after 3 years of not using it. I feared the data would be corrupted, but after over 3 hours in automatic repairs and installing updates - it finally came back to life.
Maybe this is why, USB C become common (although some of them still using DC Jack or proprietary connector) for Laptop. To make charge it easy and not as painful as in video

Nothing wrong with going aftermarket if you spend the 30 seconds of time required to learn what is the right kind. Older laptops can be bricked with the wrong charger, so i understand the hesitancy but it would save you lots of money and only cost you 30 seconds of search results to figure out how to get the right one and not brick the thing.
If you want help. Let me know, there are 2 different chargers for these laptops and only 1 works. It will have wittten on the bottom “I was made in” and “my model number is” where the one you got won’t have this written on. Both have the same model numbers but a different plug on the end

look up the specs of the charger and buy a similar one. You can just stick the wires into the barrel jack. I had to splice a 2008 mac mini power supply to an hp barrel jack because my cheap ass parents couldn't buy a replacement charger for my laptop i used for school. And that's the least of terrible stories about my parents. My parents are going to a nursing home one day 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Here’s something else you need to know. The hard drive is old and could probably be dead. It is so god damn hard to replace it you basically have to disassemble almost the whole computer.

That ibook clamshell was 24 years ago which its made in 1999 and it havent turned on since 2013 and you have to buy a new one to turn on
