    When you watch a TH-cam tech review, you're always skeptical of whether you're getting an honest opinion or not. You can never know for sure, but all of the signs are here; you're knowledgeable, fair, and demonstrated the product. I pulled the trigger on a purchase. Thanks for the help.

    Dude I really love the polish you put into this video. You have very conclusively demonstrated how good the ModMic USB is, and I now know the price is worth it. The only area that I felt you missed is that you did USB ModMic in Omni mode with mechanical keyboard, but not Uni mode with mechanical keyboard. I really wanted to know how that would sound, as the Omni one already sounds much quieter! Either way, this video was totally awesome!

    5:40 "how they would improve it" I think the wire that goes to the input source could be much thinner and more flexible. the cord (not the mic cord near your face) feels too stiff to stay out of the way when wearing puffy coats. I wish the cord could just be changed out for something else.

    • @Kaanuzall
      @Kaanuzall 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please correct me if I am wrong, but 1770 has removable cable right? So V-moda would have done well to begin with? Other than this, you connect the 3.5 mm Jack of the modmic into the g6 and it registers as any other mic and not something else I suppose. Is that correct? Sorry if this was a confusing reply, thanks for any help you could provide!

    Yo Brian,
    There’s actually an online shop with this guy who makes custom paracord cables just like the keyboard and mouse ones you’ve looked at, but he makes a headphone PLUS modmic cable. It’s literally just one single, slightly thicker paracord cable that terminates in both your headphone and modmic connections. They’re a little expensive for me at the moment, but I think I want to pick one up, since the only thing that has bothered me about the modmic solution is having all the wires draped and tangled all over my body while I’m trying to play overwatch.
    Maybe give them a shout and see if they’d want you to do a review. I can’t remember the name of the site right now but I’ll come edit this comment with a link if I find it again.

    Hands down the best video on Modmics! I have ordered the Modmic USB based on your sound test because it sounds almost as good as a "proper" mic like the Blue Yeti. I have watched a couple of videos with sound tests and I noticed that yours sound significantly better on both modes of the Modmic USB. May I ask how you do that? Is it the placement, or some software settings? Maybe something else? I am a total noob to audio and I would like to use the mic for content creation at some point. How it sounds in other videos, I wouldn't do that - but how it sounds in yours, it would be perfect, even in uni mode. Thanks in advance!

  • @vincer9960
    @vincer9960 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    BLOWS my mind how the V-Moda Boom Pro's sound quality destroys all the ModMic combinations unless the Modmics are running in omni...even then, the Modmics in omni mode don't necessarily sound better than the V-Moda Boom Pro - a little different, yes, but not necessary better...And that's with the V-Moda going straight into the motherboard. The V-Moda with a 3.5mm to USB soundcard adapter plug (like $10) could potentially sound even better than connected to the motherboard! Basically, judging strictly from this video, I see no reason why someone would get a Modmic instead of a Boom Pro unless they need the unidirectional noise cancelling mode. About the V-Moda jack, there are tons of headphones out there that have detachable cables, tons. Also, worse case scenario, buy a 3.5mm female to 3.5mm female adapter for $5 and you're set to use the V-Moda's.
    Mic reviews are weird. I've watched over 10 reviews of Modmic Uni. Modmic USB, and V-Moda Boom Pro and they all sound different. I've seen reviews where the Modmics in uni mode sound better than in this video, I've seen videos where the V-Moda sounds worse than in this video, I've seen videos where I can barely tell the different between the Modmic in uni VS omni mode (big difference in this video). It seems judging mics from videos is extremely difficult as the sound is very inconsistent between identical mics/setups from video to video.

    the v moda boom pro absolutely destroys the modmic uni in sound quality lol it's not even a competition. you can easily buy 3.5mm adapters if your headphones do not take 3.5mm. they're usually around $2-$10, super cheap. plus the v moda is cheaper and usually is on sale for only $25. don't even consider the modmic if you want good sound quality. this isn't meant to put down Brian in any way, I understand he's just doing this for content. sidenote, love your videos man and keep up the grind! So is it better to buy the modmic usb and connect it directly in my motherboard or to buy the mod mic uni and plug it in my gaming dac? My dac Only has a 3,5 mm in for mics and headphones

    How big is the piece that attaches to the headphones?
    I have a pair of UE11 IEM's and I'm considering the modmics to attach but want to make sure that the "anchor" will actually fit on my IEM
