    It's best to use the vmoda with a studio headphone rather than an overpriced gaming headset that would already have a mic.

    5:50 I find the V-Moda more in line with the ModMic 5. The slightly smoother sound might be due to the popfilter

    • @ryansanderson7023
      @ryansanderson7023 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I doubt it. The pop filter is used to tame plosive wind noise against the mic capsul. (Hence the name "pop"filter) They are simply two different products with different frequency response. I think the V-Moda sounds great for what it is.

    One big disadvantage that on the V-Moda is that you make it share a ground. So, if you want to connect your headphones to a external DAC/Amp and your mic to a mic input, you will get a buzz. A separated cable with its own ground, like on the ModMic avoid this issues.

    Sony WH-1000XM5 + V-Moda BoomPro (~30 Euro) + Sharkoon Gaming DAC Pro S V2 (~30 Euro).
    No noise, crystal clear voice (thanks to the BoomPro mic) and extremely nice sound while gaming. I asked about 10x people on Discord how I sound: 9/10 points.
    Tip:
    Make sure to deactivate the "Speak-To-Chat" setting in Sony's Headphones app, otherwise the gaming sound will not be received. I also activated the ambient noise mode and set it to 15 so that I can hear my own voice clearly when I speak.
    I have never been as satisfied with online gaming than these days. It doesn't get any better. Especially since I no longer need a separate headset, where the mics are no good at all - at least most of them are trash.

    I didn't go with the BoomPro specifically for the reason that I would have to plug them into my headset. Ignore Dave's remark. Hearing the difference could come down to whatever audio output you use. If you're listening on earbuds or TV speakers, the difference might not be detectable at all.
      ModMic 5.0 was flawless, I couldn't detect any vocal artifacts. The Vmoda had some artifacts that prevented it from sounding totally natural and true, but overall, the vocal quality was detailed and clear. At a mere $30, the Vmoda has incredible value.
      For professional use where vocal quality must be as natural as possible, ModMic 5.0 is better. For gaming and general use, the Vmoda is totally sufficient and a much more reasonable option. If you get a pop filter on the Vmoda, all the better.

    I bought the mic a few months ago and used it with my Vmoda M-100s that I've had for 6 months to a year . The mic is alright if you're on a budget. I ran into issues with it. I had similar issues with audio going to my headphones bleeding into the microphone. I had issues with static from the cord causing noise to be made and transmitted into the microphone. I just thought the execution of this microphone was meh. Sort of an afterthought from Vmoda. I eventually bought the Sennheiser GSP 302 off Amazon and haven't looked back. Quality across the board was spot on. I still use my Vmoda's for video editing and use away from my PC, but the GSP 302 is my daily driver for gaming and streaming on my PC.
    One tip I can offer to those considering buying this, if you have an old Xbox 360 headset laying around, use the foam bit on the end of the microphone. I did that and it helped negate some of the popping when I say certain words.

      You can modify the M50 and add a 2.5mm (male) to 3.5 mm (female) adapter and use the boom pro. That's what I did and it's worked out pretty well. However, if you try this, there's a little notch on the inside of the hole on the m50's which is used for locking the proprietary 2.5mm connector into the headphones. I think the safest way of doing this is opening up that side of the headphones and unscrewing and removing the audiojack/circuit board into which the cable connector goes. After this is out of the way (and safe from being broken) you should be able to use a drill or sharp tool to take out the notch inside. Definitely remove the internals before hand though, because I didn't and drilled too far. So, I ended up breaking the internal audio connector/board and I had to solder everything manually. Also, make sure you find an adapter which fits in the m50's, some might be too big around.
