them new combos are nuts. Cant wait to get one when their available again. Im gonna be running a belt drive with mine. I got a feeling i will be burning through batteries having them charged to play again and again. Cant wait.

Hey I got the b&m 18-35 gears and the 30-35 gears . Same motor/esc combo . Just waiting for my mounts . I bought the badlands so I can not destroy any tires . I’m glad I get to watch everyone else pave the way. I’m going to order another temp/voltage sensor so I can keep my stock setup together. Thank you again. would adding faster spur gears generally destroy the electronics to the truck? i dont get why and how to prevent adding a faster spur pinion and destroy the electronics
Exocaged RC I’m a dummy! I have a castle Bluetooth link and it emits a red light. It was pointing towards the clear hole in the receiver box. Moving that out of the way shows the receiver is green... 😂 thanks though!

Not really sure but they are very close to equal even considering the stronger Max5 esc. Perhaps the castle may be a bit stronger but they are so close it’s negligible, I like the sensored operation the most.
In Germany I honestly don’t know. You may be much cheaper with a Leopard brand motor and an off brand Max5 esc. You’ll pay top dollar to get one of these sent your way.
that is a great mod, I have watched both this video and the video for the hobbywing motor /esc set build. for the money spent, truthfully ,which mod will give me more bang for my buck when im ready to go that direction????? great video's on the Xmax. love all of them.

the video makes things like gear noise, and crickets and bugs along with squeaks way worse than they are, since this video I have had to change the spur gear...sooo maybe it wasn't quite right

These are expensive upgrades, I think its about $600 in total just in upgrades. In stock form it runs well, you can change gearing to the 46t spur and get faster, for me this was worth it simply due to I don't like overheating issues that occur with stock setups, especially when pushed hard.

I’m a rook so forgive me for all the questions. I am curious why you went w the castle monster X w 800 KV? Did it just increase the low end power? I know I’ve seen many going w the max 6 w the stock engine. Not sure I even understand why the need to change from the Traxxas ESC as is t it made by Castle for Traxxas? Also, why the extremely high pinion? Most guys are running a 50Spur and 20 Pinion. Does that combo add more power? I know it doesn’t seem to add much speed. I revamped my E-Revo and almost put in a Monster X esc and 1515 combo. I did everything else to it including changing diff fluid, adding the metal drive shaft, etc but kept the stock esc and engine. Once I upgraded the drive shaft and diffs. it flew like the wind. I just sick and tired of breaking the stupid rod ends every time out I am selling it!!! I bought an XMAXX w everything currently stock and haven’t had 1 break!!! I’ve done some crazy stuff w it too! I’m asking all these questions and doing this long post as I’m debating what upgrades to actually do. So your wisdom in the Castle Combo change as well as why the highest Tooth pinion gear I’ve heard of cold help out this rookie!! I know I’m going to up to a 50T Spur from CEN and 20 T pinion from Tekno, add a better servo-stirring is weak at best w stock, add some Pro line rear hubs, and add the Traxxas 7763T Shock shafts. But I just don’t understand the need to change the Esc Motor Combo yet. Doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t I just don’t yet see or understand the value. 😬😂. I’m subscribing as I just bought my first Arrma Mojave and I saw your comparison w the UDR!! No way I’d by the UDR after seeing that vid!! ok well I'll do my best to answer those, thank you fro subscribing. The reason for the bigger motor is power and durabiity, plus heat. The bigger motor is insanely strong but slow at 800kv so it needs that big pinion to get the speed back. The bigger motor move the truck easier and with the bigger bearings and all its just the better option. The stock motor and esc is good, biggest issue I've seen with that are the bearings, I have a buddy who's bearings went out after about 6 drives and completely killed the motor. On the Erevo 2.0 I did a video or two with mine when I had it, you can use limit straps from Hot Racing to save your ends from pulling apart. As far as mods in general go, many of us just like to tinker with things to see how they work so we change things and its not always for the better lol I have tuning videos and all kinds of stuff in the channel on a wide variety of vehicles you can look at. Hopefully I'll see your future comments as I don't get notifications like I used to. Hope that helps.
Exocaged RC thanks! I bought the Max5 and went with the 1100kv vs. the 800. I saw a few others including one of yours that had that in it and it seemed to have a great balance of speed and power. Do I need to go up in the pinion? I have a 50 T spur w a 20t pinion. Should I go up in either to get the speed? Thanks so much for the help jj
For that motor I’d probably run a 35-40t pinion. Great motor too. You’ll need a new pinion with an 8mm bore. Saga Customs sells on eBay and they’ll have what you need.
I would like to know how much did you spend on all the setup with gearing ESC and motor and I'm wondering if you upgraded the dips covers cuz with that kind of power you're probably be blowing them out oh nothing the diff covers that's a lot of powers looks like take by the way are you from Connecticut maybe I can come over and hang out my xmaxx is cool as yours LOL have fun and be safe always
Well I spent about another $550 worth on the motor esc mount and gears. LoL. It’s sad but true. If I’m recording and a bolt falls out I usually just fix those but I try to show the failures as best I can.

Traxxas sells the mount for the temperature wire around the motor I'm not sure the part number offhand.

Looks like you have it all ready to go man. If you do swap out the radio consider the Flysky GT5. That’s what I run in it now.

other than arming time, motor rotation and lipo cutoff limits I don't think I did.

just P. X that’s how long it takes to arm. Factory setting is 1.5 seconds. I turn that down as much as possible to 1 second

temp probe goes to the receiver, and its just glued onto the side of the motor. the ESC mount is printed

I’ve broken a set of front gears. Are you landing while hard on the throttle? That can snap anything.

the temp wire doesn't have to be glued to the motor, just as long as it's plugged in the receiver. Then u can just put it wherever u want.

So my stock 8S ESC smoked so I bought the max6 esc I’ve used it once and I’m not happy with it at all will this work with the 1600 KV stock motor

Probably a 40t to start. My ratio at the pinion/spur is 1.2-1. So calculate anything around there and you’ll be fine.

You can do the same with a Hobbywing Max5 and 800kv. It’s just not sensored. The sensored castle is very responsive.

Exocaged RC thanks! I bought the Max5 and went with the 1100kv vs. the 800. I saw a few others including one of yours that had that in it and it seemed to have a great balance of speed and power. Do I need to go up in the pinion? I have a 50 T spur w a 20t pinion. Should I go up in either to get the speed? Thanks so much for the help jj
For that motor I’d probably run a 35-40t pinion. Great motor too. You’ll need a new pinion with an 8mm bore. Saga Customs sells on eBay and they’ll have what you need.

No. Mod 1 is the bigger sized pinions.

I would like to know how much did you spend on all the setup with gearing ESC and motor and I'm wondering if you upgraded the dips covers cuz with that kind of power you're probably be blowing them out oh nothing the diff covers that's a lot of powers looks like take by the way are you from Connecticut maybe I can come over and hang out my xmaxx is cool as yours LOL have fun and be safe always
Well I spent about another $550 worth on the motor esc mount and gears. LoL. It’s sad but true. If I’m recording and a bolt falls out I usually just fix those but I try to show the failures as best I can.
