Love w.f.o. parts. Awesome customer service and amazing products. The gears seem to quiet up a bit after they break in but man they sound awesome like shredded metal. I've got a few different sets of ratios from them amd they are all amazing.
Yeah I don't know how yours are still working mine went bad in one week and I had used them about the same and just as much wet conditions as your runs. Gotta get this setup looks fun!!
My Rustler 4x4 VXL got me into this hobby and my Losi Tenacity DB Pro adds some 'scale' to the racer/basher genre. But I confess their chronic appetite for new parts due to the stresses caused by their power and subsequent speeds more often lends me to the composed, low maintenance joys of my crawlers. I guess swearing off women years ago makes any type of "maintenance" more noticed.
Good video man. I dont how people dislike a video. These beef gears work. I pushed 13.5 horsepower to these new design beef gears at over 100mph in the x maxx. Thanks for sharing man.
What motor and esc were yu running?

Once again another great video! I hate that I literally just bought these oh, I also got the hardened ring and pinion gear for the front and back, and the crazy thing is I'm running on the stock motor I'm just waiting for it to go out and it's an instant upgrade.
I bought 20 of those little pins. A worthy investment on my part! 😂

So glad you did this set up. I can't get my set screw to stay on spur with this same setup. Also i thought i did something wrong cause when i brake, i get that same sound. Looks like that's normal.

How did you go about setting your mesh? Mine seems almost perfect but I think I chipped the edge of my spur gear while driving

is there a kush drive still? I have a similar max 5 setup with the same wfo mount and gears. and I keep on breaking ring and pinion gears and snapping axels. any feedback would be appreciated
Hey exo. I just ordered the 800kv motor for mine, i currently have the 1650kv(not installed yet) but i dont think it will work for my type of bashing. Now im trying to figure out what gear ratio(mod1.5) will work for me. Im running the trenchers. What would u recommend?
30t pinion 35t spur or 25t pinion and a 30t spur.
If you spray the gears down with some dry graphite lubrication it quiets the gears way down and obviously.... lubricates.
You should try some new tyres, maybes these:

They’ve updated their design at this point. Buy what ever is needed with the current lineup
Maybe a speed run after you get it fixed? Also, maybe you should bring a weed wacker next time to clear out that brush away from that small jump. Make it easier to get out of the next time you bury your truck in the brush lol

I bought some b&m gears and motor mount but they don't have that d bore design and I have some misalignment issues right now. I had to put the spur gear all the way to the rear and it came loose during testing so I went with red loctite this time. Those powerhobby fans are very durable.
I like the DBore stuff for sure. And yeah I’ve broken a lot of fans but these are holding up well.
@@ExocagedRC I just ordered some more stuff from WFO and this time I made sure to get the gears and motor mount from them. Hehe. I'm going with the same esc/motor combo for my second xmaxx (max 5 with the 1100kv motor. 25/35 gearing). I'm still in the testing phase of my first upgraded xmaxx and all I can say is that it's a freaking BEAST with that gearing, motor and ESC. My spur gear keeps coming loose on me though, so I'll probably have to have the gears misaligned so that the spur can bite better on the shaft.
@@ExocagedRC on my second xmaxx, where the bolts go for the motor, the chassis is messed up. I overtightehed the bolts a few times. I'm not sure if I should just install the WFO mount on that chassis and if it would work. I'll see how it looks. I was thinking about using washers instead of having to change the whole chassis 🤔

@@ExocagedRC Now that I installed all the WFO stuff, including the motor mount and gears, I can say for sure that the WFO ones look and sound better than the B&M 1.5 mod gears. Also the WFO gears aligned better too.
I have the same setup and its a beast. The Mod1.5 gears is definitely a different sound but you are correct not that loud in person.

I went with the Max 5 and 1100kv 5687 motor. It's a freaking BEAST. Check it out.

@@joeoetker5393 you have to worry even more about the diffs since there’s no Cush drive. The Cush drive is designed to release some stress from the drivetrain.

No fan on that motor? Does it not get hot with the 30/35 gearing

What is the shaft called that was pulled out with the 2 gears on it? When you upgrade the gears i'd imagine you need a different shaft, where can I find those and do you have a part number or link to the page.
The shaft comes with the gears. It’s the same stock shaft that basically gets machines to fit the D bore.
I just got a Xmaxx. I broke the spur gear on the first run. It's fixed but maybe I'll upgrade.
locopoppy if you mesh the gears too tight the pinion gears will break the spur due to the leverage the pinion has

Sometimes the Axe is better in some situations, each system has their own pluses and minuses
Dude try out the belt drive its like the opposite of mod 1.5 so smooth and quite Im actually am able to rip it at night and not wake up the neighborhood 😂 when im itching for some xmaxx madness

Get the mount from WFO. Just some info that motor puts the Max6 at its limits. Gear it a bit conservatively and you should be fine.

Get you some shim stock and run it thru gears to bend it to gears then use it to set perfect lash.

30/30 will be fast. I like 25/30 and 30/35 for the 800kv.

Looks awesome man and strong but all that power going through that teeny tiny pin on the spur shaft smaller gear. Always worries me
With those gears the torque is less than the original gears. Less stress on trasmission, more heat on the motor

Probably not. Maybe a 30t spur and a 20t pinion. Maybe but I doubt it

I have a really stupid question (probably); I've never owned an xmaxx, but why not direct drive the motor to the spur gear shaft? Kinda like a boat.

Surely the amount of extra weight these have will negate any strength benefits you will get from them.

How do you think it would hold up if you ran 34t pinion, 30t spur with that 800kv?
I spent over 2,000$ with WFO, and had nothing but grief from the owners! Even the Vita Von guys got salty with me over my dispute, after I spent over 1000$ with them. I Ain’t buying nothing from WFO, or VitaVon ever again!
What were your issues? If you’ve had issues with both companies, are they really at fault?
@@ExocagedRC 1 gear cover! A 15$ part! Was broken in shipping, didn’t care because I had another one from a different manufacturer. Well WFO circus 🤡’s made up a lie on social media saying I had the gear cover, in tact, because they seen a post from the other gear cover I had. Vitavon stuck there nose where it don’t belong, and banned me from there FB groups as well because of the WFO argument.

Bought these gears and they didn't last 10 minutes 😑.
I have over 30 years of rc experience and 25 years of professional automotive technician experience so no mistake of mine. This is the poorest experience with any product and especially customer service I've ever encountered. And seems they may be out of business. No way to leave a review.
Beware stay away. Don't get screwed like myself. Tried multiple times resolve no luck. I am out neat 100 dollars for junk.
