    You deserve waaaay more subs. I've been watching you for a while now because I love your really mellow approach and delivery. Also your dry sense of humour . Keep up the good work mate. I'm thinking of starting a channel myself but I'm a bit more nutty compared to you. I really hope you get more subs and I've started recommending you to other people getting into the outdoors. Yes you got some nice gear but I love how you look at the REAL budget friendly stuff because not everybody is carrying a wad of cash around and I do appreciate that aspect. Your a mellow dude and I think your doing a top job . Keep it up !

    The nice pink/purple flowered bushes are Rhododendron, that variety is the largest of the genus Ericaceae, a bush originating in Japan - aka Japonica in name as all plants that originate from Japan are named. I could hear the bee. The views are pretty out there. They are poisonous to humans and some other animals, they will make you sick if you try to eat from them. They were introduced to the UK by gardeners during the Victorian Era to show off large estate gardens.
    That's a nice tent. I'm just getting the the lighter gear now. I use one of the foot pumps you get with an inflatable boat at the seaside, cheap
    as chips. I won't lose my big gear as it comes in hand for car camping, or hopefully Kayak camping in the future, plus my bike trailer can carry it all, no sweat, well a little sweat - I am old and fat so i will sweat cycling, it makes a shower later more relaxing.

    • @daleyoutdoors
      @daleyoutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mark - good to know! They were big so I can see why they use them in estate gardens 👍

    I have to reset myself to the English camping situation from the Scottish one every time I watch an English vid. I camped out at beinn eighe on Saturday (Vid on my channel) but had no compunction or worry about pitching, getting caught or anything. Come up my way at some point.

    Rhododendrons, apparently, according to my wife. I've noticed loads of them recently in both West Yorkshire and Dorset. Must be something about this year.

    • @daleyoutdoors
      @daleyoutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe all the rain through may then consecutive sun has helped them along. They look great across the moors 👍 Thanks for watching Brad 😊

      Think it's the wet spring -> hot & humid summer (I believe they're originally from Asia).
      I don't remember them blooming so much for years.
      They're all over the shop though, think they're classed as an invasive species. You go anywhere round here in woodland (west yorks) and if you see a big bush with a large evergreen leaf, it'll be a Rhododendron.

    • @Frillar
      @Frillar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shabingly yes they invasive and also highly destructive to native plants, they out-compete everything. it's a big issue.

    Another great video Ben. I like to do a bigger circular up there. Park in Birchover, explore the Rowter Rocks caves at the side of The Druids in, walk down to Robin Hood's Stride, back over to Stanton Moor, head down in Birchover again to wet the whistle in the Red Lion pub. I'm sure you don't need a guide, but give me a nudge if you want showing round. I think we're both pretty local.

    That looked like a great location, loads of variety and the quarry area looked nice. I do like the look of the Helm, I prefer tents with the pole running end to end although I have a Wild Country Zephyros 1, I bought it before the Helm was released and I can just about sit upright in the Zephyros but a bit of extra headroom would be nice. I have been looking at the Lanshan 1 Pro though, I've never tried that style of tent.

    • @daleyoutdoors
      @daleyoutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve got the Lanshan 2, they’re great tents if you carry walking poles anyway. Personally I find them a bit of a faff to put up (probably my fault though) and you need a much bigger spot to pitch them in. Thanks for watching mate 👍

    • @Flexaret
      @Flexaret 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daleyoutdoors I saw your review of the Lanshan 2 and didn't like the look of it, it looked a bit of a faff to pitch but you could be right, probably something that would get easier the more often you pitched it. I was thinking the Lanshan 1 might be a bit quicker with only one pole. That said I have a One Tigris Iron Wall tipi tent and I don't like how it pitches but again I probably haven't pitched it enough. I don't like tents that need a lot of fine tuning once they're pitched. There are a lot of interesting alternatives though, the Cloudup 1 and the Spider 1 for example but I'm kinda curious about the Lanshan 1 :-)
      Anyway, as always I enjoyed your video, no drama, no hype, :-)

      @@daleyoutdoors I'll be watching, to be honest I'm having trouble figuring out which versions are single skin and which are double skin plus there's the 3 season which I think is double skin with a mesh inner and 4 season which is double skin with a plain/solid inner but I'm still not quite sure LOL. I was going to order the 'Pro 3 Season' which hopefully is double skin/mesh inner and see what arrived :-)

    • @daleyoutdoors
      @daleyoutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Flexaret Anything 'Pro' is single skin. You're correct about the 3/4 season mesh. So a 'Pro 3 season' will be single skin and have mesh internal sides. I have the 'non-pro 3 season' and it has a full mesh inner.
