- Do you NEED loads of gear when you’re wild camping? On this wild camp (or wild 'glamp') in the Chiltern Hills I took along some luxuries that I don’t usually take like a chair, table, APG stove, electric hand warmer, wireless charger and a few other bits...

I'm not really a breakfast person, though I did stop at the services for a sausage cob on the way home 😂
Love my Helm1 such a good lightish tent. The key to still use that tent in warmer weather is to keep in the wind and make sure vents are angled at it. I am looking to get a warmer sleep mat later in the year, as I use the Forclaz MT500 XL matt which is great but no insulation, which is fine for summer, but not for winter
It's a great tent! I'd wouldn't mind a go in a Helm 2 though 👍
@@daleyoutdoors it was a tough decision to not get the helm2 as it had everything I wanted, but weight and size of pack was the defining matter that made me get the helm1. Both cracking from what I have seen though
i've got the same seat and although its a solid piece of kit generally, i managed to snap a leg due to the digging in and getting off it from an angle!
Ah no! There’s a mat you can get for the bottom that stops it sinking. I might need to invest 😬

Hops grown in London? That's like country folk becoming muggers? We don't even grow hops in Kent anymore, because they can buy them in from abroad alot cheaper than home grown ones.

Hey Ben, enjoyed this combo with Mr LO, nice to see you out camping rather than stuck in your home office rummaging through another Go Outdoors or Decathlon haul 😉 I always fancied a helm 1 but purchased a Terra Nova Zephyros 1 instead and actually hate it... serves a purpose and is pretty light at 1.5 KG but some of the build quality is awful. Anyway thats my problems off my chest. Laters 👍
FS I’ve just finished filming my next haul 🤣 I like the Helm, I do wish I’d gone for a Helm 2 now I’ve got a massive sleep mat though 🤦♂️

@@daleyoutdoors Oh and if you need feet for your chair...I just glued on some wide walking stick feet, I think they were 11 or 12mm and my legs are 10mm, I just stuck them on with super glue. No sinking, I previously had ping pong balls on the feet that were perfect, but eventually failed

Nice collaboration video Ben. Really liking the Helm tent by the way. Really clever set up with the separate storage area. You should have gone fully northern and given Ben 2 a can of gravy instead by the way. I’m also really impressed to have learned that a grab bag of minstrels is a healthy snack. That’s life changing!

Hey :) Can I ask how the ice flame quilt is? What temperatures have you slept in it and kept cosy? I’m thinking about getting one but it’s my first quilt and I’m worried I’ll be cold lol
I’ve had it down to -2 but wearing a merino layer and on an insulated mat. I use it all year round and just adjust what I wear accordingly. I find it much more comfortable and cosy than a sleeping bag 👍
