  • Quick Questions For Jehovah's Witnesses is a series of quick questions for JWs (hence the name) and other interest parties to ponder. The answers to the questions just might be a little more revealing than most JWs would want to admit.

    @FEINBACHRISING- More is explained in the booklet, but it completely agrees with what I have quoted. Read the whole booklet for yourself. It is on the WT library CD-Rom. It is a quick read.

    @letusreason42262 Thats a great way to explain it! Yes, there is a definite differance between death and destruction. If our soul was destroyed at death as the WT teaches then when we are ressurected it would actually be more like a cloning. That always bothered me when I was a JW.

      So you doubt the Bible?

    In this senario the hard drive remains entact but in a kind of "suspended animation". Now if electicity(life force) were reintruduced and new hardware(body) attached the pc could be "ressurected" and said to be the same pc as before. If tho the hard drive were thrown into a fire it would be forever lost. Even if you remembered what was on that hard drive and put that data on another hard drive it could still never be refered to as the same PC as the one which existed before.

    @FEINBACHRISING- So, how does one kill the body, but not the life?

  • @peaceintruth

    @FEINBACHRISING Thanks for your reply. I'm enjoying the comments here.
    You said: "JW's don't believe the soul or life of a person is destroyed as much as put into suspended animation..."
    I would agree that the soul is put into a sort of "suspended animation" at adamic death, and can also be destroyed, put out of existance, by the "second death, lake of fire, geheena judgement. But I think this "soul" that is "suspended" at adamic death is more complex than just a "life force".

      The soul, as I've read it defined, is the Mind, will and intellect for the person. Our ...person-ness.
      There are a few verses that might help. In Philippians 1:21-23, Paul talks about how, for him, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. A few verses later, he admits to wanting to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
      How would it be GAIN to die, if you cease to exist?

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FEINBACHRISING- So are you saying that there IS something of Man which survives death?

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @letusreason42262- You've missed the point. According to the WT it is impossible to have a soul without a body. The separation of the two = death. If Jehovah plans on resurrecting the soul, is it dead CURRENTLY?

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FEINBACHRISING- I'm still not clear on your view. Does the soul survive death or not? If the soul is just in Jehovah's memory, do you consider it alive or dead?

    @EvidenceMinistries Can you help me on this too? Peace of Christ be with you brother!! Can you help in this verse? Ezekiel 37:15. LDS says the bible predicts their existence .

  • @peaceintruth

    Earlier the analogy of a toaster was made to represent what happens at death. I belive this is too simplistic. I like to use the analogy of a computer, in which
    1. The electricity represents the life force, spirit, or breath of life from God.
    2. The associated hardware which allows the pc to be animate, to function, communicate and perform tasks represents the body.
    3. The hard drive represents the soul.
    Lets liken death to unplugging the pc and destroying the associated hardware.

    @FEINBACHRISING- People have the religious freedom to believe whatever they want. I find it ironic that JWs think the USA is great when it comes to freedom of religion, but will not cast a vote to keep that freedom intact.

    Ecclesiastes 12v7 the soul return to the Lord

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FEINBACHRISING- Actually, it is best for you to bring up other topics such as animals being souls because you can't answer the question. It is a favorite tactic of EVERY SINGLE JW I've ever talked to. I'm beginning to wonder if they teach this at the Theocratic Ministry School. "If you can't answer the question, change the subject and hope that the householder doesn't catch you." Sorry, Corey, but that doesn't work with me. Please stay on topic and answer the question.

  • @InternetDisciple

    If there is no afterlife, then what do the JW's say is the point of living?

    @EvidenceMinistries Hello, you said "Solomon is arguing from a secular perspective instead of a Godly one."
    I find this an interesting belief. Do you believe that Soloman wrote under YHWH's inspiration? If you do, how is it not a "Godly perspective"? Ecc 12:9,10 tells us that Soloman gave the people knowledge, and what he wrote was upright and true. So again, do you believe Soloman wrote under divine inspiration?

    So you are saying that the JW's say that there is no such a thing as soul destruction?

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @letusreason42262- The Ecc 9:5 is taken out of context. At that point in the book, Solomon is arguing from a secular perspective instead of a Godly one. I'd be willing to bet that you've never read the whole book of Ecc in one sitting.

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @letusreason42262- Seriously, you have not answered the question. How can you kill the body and not kill the soul?

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @letusreason42262- Please just explain Matthew 10:28. All of these WT inspired stories and illustrations simply do not address the issue. The verse plainly says that man cannot kill the soul.

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @peaceintruth- Actually, it is even worse. According to the WT, God stores your life pattern in His memory. When He recreates you, the life pattern is copied from His memory and placed in a new body. So, it isn't you, nor is it a copy of you. It is actually a copy of a copy of you.

    I find it AMAZING how Jw's exalt WT interpretation and literature over the clear,teachings of God's Word.They can literally look at a Scripture like Mat10:28in the Bible and see how it CLEARLY contradicts the WT teaching of the annihilation of the soul.But yet they wrather put there faith and trust in a deceitful org like the WT (I encourage any honest Jw to do a honest research of the history of this org and u will see what I mean) instead of the purity of God's Word ALONE!

  • @iatspoe

    You cant kill the soul. the only way you kill the soul is if you sell your soul to the devil. Our souls are light forces of energy that passes on to our next journey.

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FEINBACHRISING- I have no issue with God destroying both body and soul. That isn't my question. If the separation of body and life-force = the nonexistence of the soul, then how can a man kill your body, but not your soul? If your soul does NOT die when it leaves the body, then you have a part of man which survives death.

    Since Adam did not become a living being UNTIL GOD breathed into Adam's nostrils the breath of LIFE, and since GOD IS SPIRIT and is ETERNAL then that which came directly from GOD is also Eternal. " for the Body returns to the Dust from whence it came, and the SPIRIT returns to GOD who gave it" Ecclesiastes . 12:7

    @InternetDisciple The JWs believe that being a JW, at armageden, you will either meet God in Heaven (if you are one of the select few) or live in eternal paradise on Earth. The dumb thing is - the only thing you have you have to do, is BE a JW. It's not about being a good person or being remorseful for your sins. Being a JW is all they require. Pretty dumb, eh?

  • @InternetDisciple

    @FEINBACHRISING
    "There is a resurrection of a person to life."
    So you are saying that there is an afterlife.
    "The Bible says it can be destroyed."
    Now you seem to be saying that there is no afterlife. Make up your mind!
    "...shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." Daniel 12:2.
    If you don't want to explain your stance on this thread, then why are you here?

  • @EvidenceMinistries
    @EvidenceMinistries  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FEINBACHRISING- I don't need to know about the souls of animals to understand the soul of man. God resurrects man, not animals. Animals have nothing to do with the subject.

    You mean that you can't tell me about the beliefs of the JW's?
    First you tell me that the JW's are wrong when they claim that there is no afterlife. Then you say that the Bible says that the soul can be destroyed.
    If you don't want to explain your stance on this thread, then why are you here?

  • @DaynaPalmerN

    @EvidenceMinistries No, that is not the idea conveyed, there is no way of separating the two, if you die, you dies and there is absolutely NO separation because your soul does not live on, you yourself are your soul, if you die, your soul dies because you ARE your soul, you don't HAVE a soul, you ARE THE SOUL

    My friend, no offense, but are you always this obtuse? In Zep 2:2-3, I saw nothing that says that someone could lose his salvation, or that there is, as you say, an afterlife for some, but not all.
    If there is, as you say, an afterlife for some but not all, what is the criteria by which the Creator judges someone worthy of a good afterlife, a bad afterlife, and no afterlife?
    I really hope that you can be more clear than you have been.

    Interesting. JW's don't even pay attention to their own bible.
