  • Welcome to my 2022 NOBO leg of the Continental Divide Trail!!
    First, let’s review my one request for viewers: negativity, shaming, bullying etc will NOT be tolerated in the comments, towards me or anyone else, so if you can’t be kind, be quiet.
    My 2021 CDT thru hike ended abruptly in Yellowstone, if you’re new here, you can learn more about that by checking out my 2021 CDT playlist. This year I’m NOBO and solo with every intention of reconnecting my footpath in Yellowstone and thus completing my thru hike of the CDT.
    Subscribe now and follow along as I return to embrace the brutality of the beautiful CDT and maybe a few other extracurriculars I might be scheming. You can also find more of my trail updates on Instagram: @ms_rebecca_ann
    For anyone interested in being a Trail Angel from afar and providing Trail Magic, any amount is ALWAYS appreciated, so if you’d like to buy me a cider in town or help with a resupply, my Venmo handle is @bergstromra
    Thank you so much for watching and supporting, I hope these videos help inspire you to get outdoors and/or follow your passion. We’re only given one life and it’s meant to be lived, get out there and live it!

    The chaffing on your inner thighs can be vastly improved with a body glide. It's like a stick deodorant, but it's a balm. I've found it to be very effective at preventing the rash and also making a rash so much less painful.

    I hiked the Pacific crest Trail in spandex bicycle shorts which also served as my underwear and never had any chafing ever. And then I had nylon khaki pants with zip off pant legs so most of the time I was hiking in the spandex black shorts with the nylon pants over it with the legs zipped off so I had twin shorts. It worked great but yeah the chafing will ruin your hike.

    That's why I wear pants! But HYOH as always.Beautiful country. I think I'd want to take my time in there. Maybe it would be a good section hike a little later when the leaves are out. Enjoying your videos.

    WOW 11 days and already through the Gila, that's amazing. Hope You had the time to jump into at least one of the hot springs. I understand why you don't want the extra weight but since I don't do the big miles you are doing; I always carry some sort of hiking pants. wishing you the best and enjoying your posts.

    Ouch...your lower legs almost look like you have cellulitis. Be careful with that (IF that is what it is). You may need antibiotics to clear it up. You are a trooper to put in big miles even with tender legs. Love all the scenery shots. Hope your legs feel better!

    Sounds like “swimmers itch” on your legs. That makes sense with that Gila River water. Somewhat common in the desert water. Hopefully it self corrects when you get away from those crossings!!!!

    My favorite hiking pants over the years have been the Wrangler Rip stop cargo pants. Very durable, light weight, cotton, and easy to hand wash and dry.

    What is you average mph? I have the same watch and have the hiking mode set up for elaspe time, mph, ave mph. Elevation, Elevation gained. Only problem is using the gps mode, you have to charge the watch every night.

    • @sabijoli
      @sabijoli 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I’m curious about how you keep “devices” charged without the weight of a solar charger. airplane mode and wait for a town to post and recharge?

    ***IMPORTANT!**depending on your symptoms (of your legs) seek medical treatment. It’s concerning that they are painful to the touch. You have many small scrapes which could suggest cellulitis. This would require medical attention immediately if the area is swollen from your knees to the ankles, or if you have had a recent infection (strep A). Please look up your symptoms or call a nurse advise line for further treatment options. Especially if you start to feel ill, such as tired, thirsty, fever, fast heart rate, etc- directly go to the ER.

    • @jondoe1123
      @jondoe1123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lotion helps with the dry desert air, ER or to be air vaced is unnecessary, but you are probably part of the medical crap sucking the life out of everyone.

    • @jondoe1123
      @jondoe1123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Krista, dry skin that's sensitive is not a medical emergency. I have had celluties several times she don't have it. Your stupidity amazes me, you giving crap advice as someone of the medical community doesn't.

    You'd be surprised how well Vagisil ointment helps the chaffing.

  • @JB-hj7dm
    @JB-hj7dm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If it is chaffing and not something worse, Gold Bond Original Strength Body Powder works great for me. For years I tried 'wet' products similar to body glide, diaper rash ointment, vagisil, etc. None worked well, for me. It took some years to try a body powder instead of an ointment, but as soon as I tried Gold Bond powder - a light dusting of the nether regions once or twice a day - I never chaffed again.

  • @20Hikecdt23
    @20Hikecdt23 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My legs suffered from the same thing only worse. Lotion I bought as soon as I could helped. In fact it seemed like they recovered overnight. Hope yours do also and keep hiking down the National Scenic Trail! BUT, after my first time I wear my pants when on the Gila. Get all the water you can before you climb out to Snow lake.

    Lovely trail and views and vistas on the CDT you're showing us! Ouch the chafing though.. wish you had some body glide or whatever actually would work to moisturize and anti-chafe. Hopefully soon you get relief. Thanks for all the great video and hard work.

    Mmemories of a 4 mile walk in Kent stimulated for me! Puplic Foot Paths are intended to be maintaned but in summer can easily get over grown by thistles (strange how one always puts one hand or ass on one when seated !) stinging neatles (needs no further explination !) and brambles these are the thing the inventor of barbed wire observed to make its invention but unlike wire are not placid they lay in weite and snake around ones legs to tear them They were distroying my shorts and trainers as readily as my legs The solution was heavy black jeans and leather walking boots It was to hot for them but it was impossible without them I mean I was being shreaded alive!

    1:39 This is how I dreamed walking America would be 😄
    2:10 Wow!😃
    3:25 One can see the dry skin!😬 I used river water sergical spirit and Olive oil 😌
    7:36 Well I guess thats as close as I'll get to crossing a 🦫damb doing it with you 🙂
    10:20 Looking good on it even if your legs do hurt😍

    looks like cellulitis, which needs to be treated else bacteria can get into the blood stream and be extremely serious. Since you are posting this video over a week from it happening (watch said 29th), I hope you got it worked out. clean the area a few times throughout the day and put some kind of lubricant on it with bandage/clean cloth. don't use alcohol or anything else that would dry it out. another shout out for vaseline: helps line the nose to prevent dry and cold weather nose bleeds like you had earlier, helps prevent chafing, helps with dry skin, helps caring for that cellulitis, etc.

    We didn't have a swear jar, my Dad had a belt and he occassionally used it. A belt is much smarter than a bare hand. A belt doesn't damage like a hand can. You really need an aloe lotion. I hope that the rain pants worked. Good Luck, Rick
