I've used the 7 & it feels a much better device in terms of the in hand feel, better haptics, camera with laser autofocus - even though I get reasonably good pictures on my 6a. Still pondering over the thought as my window to accept the delivery for the 8 closes tomorrow, coupled with the olive green Google case. I guess it's a want - not a need ;)
In my pixel 6a editing doesn't require internet connection, doesn't need to be uploaded in Google photos and is faster than what you showed..did they change the editing in pixel 8??

This is my first time watching your videos, and I must say, your method of comparing the two phones is excellent and focuses on the crucial points. Great job! At 2:39, when you displayed the photos, but only the iPhone image appeared overexposed, although we later see it's not. I'm guessing this is due to the HDR in iOS Photos. Does the P8 offer ultra HDR? And is that feature supported by the display, or is it exclusive to the P8P?
@6asileus pixel8 is very sluggish with the photo editing mode. The pro has pro mode and the normal doesn't. . Same cpu and same camera. Transistion between lenses is laggy, video blurring and stability issues, heat issues, i dont like the ai customization. You make a picture what never happened. And altough they give 7 year updates I'm thinking how long the pixel 8 will hold up well. It's not the quickest phone. Ai editing pictures need to be on the cloud.
I LOVE Pixel software. But as you say, it's only $100 cheaper than the iPhone. Yesterday, I was on a video call, and I minimized the call to do some searches on Chrome. The phone started to choke. I tried the same on my wife's iPhone 13 and the whole process flew. It's things like this that make me want to switch to the iPhone.
They won't cause that's the only way to differentiate between the pro and non pro variant. They will never bring the non pro features close to the pro ones

Also, dealing with a pesky USB-C port issue-keeps saying 'Liquid or debris in port' despite my best efforts. Sadly, these issues have made me decide that I won't be buying another Pixel phone anymore, and I'm considering switching to iPhone instead.

If you transfer files from your phone to a laptop frequently Android is better otherwise it doesn't matter they will all work well even if you are not in any ecosystem.

Idk why they started making the base model so darm small? The only thing i can think of they want to upsale the pro of course knowing 90% of us want bigger displays. I wish they'd kept the 6.4 inch the pixel 6 has its my favorite size phone.
Bigger size accomodates larger camera lens or an extra one, also it gives space to have better thermal management so performance can be consistent. Bigger size also accomodates bigger battery.
Well, it's just a marketing gimmick that face ID is more secure. Secondly, you can adjust the depth and blur to improve the edge detection in portrait mode in photos app. Lastly, the cameras on Pixel 8 are not polished and it'll improve substantially after a month or so...typical of Google. In my case, Pixel 8 pro had better network connectivity... although S23U obliterates both pixel 8 pro and my iphone 15 in network connectivity. Btw, the performance difference between A16 and Tensor G3 is marginal unless you're into heavy gaming. Android 14 and Pixel 8's will get smoother down the line. Cheers 🥂

In fact i realised 6a supports 5g very lately only for this reason. Anotehr thing most reviewers miss out is that iPhone supports HEIF, and its half the size of JPG. Pixel doesnt support it. . So basically you can buy a 128 GB iPhone while u buy 256 gb pixel. And yes most of the processing on Pixel is done online, while iPhone has AI with offline photos too. You can search for images locally and its blazing fast. Elastic search, it searches as you type.

All photos clicked are processed by AI and put into right albums(face and subject) without uploading to cloud. More over i can search for photos based on content offline as soon as its clicked.
The only thing i didn't get is why people want performance that much like it's a smartphone.. you want pc level performance.. just because apple offers the most raw power on any smartphone.. but it's like wanting to have a car that can 300kmph but the highest you can go is 200 ... You should have mentioned the narrow display of the Pixel 8. It's way too narrow. And the aspect ratio of 20:9 as well. Absolutely an awful device for watching videos, and even photos. That narrow of a display with even a narrower aspect ratio makes it a tremendous headache. Regretting buying the Pixel 8 in BBD sales.

Scrolling insta reels via 4g doesn't make my 10k realme phone warm but pixel 6a gets really hot sometimes. So yeah it does matter. Call quality issues are also there.

I've got the Pixel 8 here in the States and I would say I like everything about it except the battery life which I find to be just okay I get about 4 and 1/2 hours yeah and that's everybody's different coverage area and blah blah blah but I'm going to sell it I think it's a really nice size phone and some of the features are great but I have a Galaxy s23 that I was going to sell but I think I'm going to keep that cuz it gets much better battery life and I'm going to sell the pixel 8 or maybe I'll just return it.

But pixel has become a head turner now a days.. rest everything is at par with iphone. Since many many people but iPhone just for showoff and nothing to do with processing prowess, now pixel seems to be taking its place for being a fresh design and better still pics. I can never spend this amount of Money on a Mediocre Processor that can’t even beat the performance of iPhone 11 (Raw). I don’t think Google will be able to push 7 years of Major Stable OS updates because even iPhones go 5 years max even with significantly more powerful chips….

Pixel 8 also supports ultra hdr.
Saw the side by side earlier. The pros of pixel looked great but the cons weight heavier for me. Therefore chose the iphone15 .

The processing on Photos app is not the problem of Pixel but the app itself. It takes some time on all phones and not just in Pixel.

I've got the Pixel 8 here in the States and I would say I like everything about it except the battery life which I find to be just okay I get about 4 and 1/2 hours yeah and that's everybody's different coverage area and blah blah blah but I'm going to sell it I think it's a really nice size phone and some of the features are great but I have a Galaxy s23 that I was going to sell but I think I'm going to keep that cuz it gets much better battery life and I'm going to sell the pixel 8 or maybe I'll just return it.

But pixel has become a head turner now a days.. rest everything is at par with iphone. Since many many people but iPhone just for showoff and nothing to do with processing prowess, now pixel seems to be taking its place for being a fresh design and better still pics. Only that pixel is a little costlier..had it been around 60k..it wud have been a new fad among Indians for it's magical AI capabilities.
In my country the iPhone 15 is significantly more expensive than the pixel 8. The 15 plus is the same price , if not more expensive, than the pixel 8 Pro 🥴
