I think too many reviewers look at a spec sheet when reviewing a phone. The majority of people, even the majority of power users arent going to be doing video encoding or intensive gaming on their phone. In every other area (calls, photos, and texting) I feel the pixel is much better than the samsung phones I've used in the past because the integration of google assistant throughout the phone makes it one of the best phones to live with. Of course, if you are an iOS person, the iphone is impossible to beat. I appreciate you keeping that in context when you share your reviews and bringing in the experience of actually using the device.

Pixel 8 is a better choice i think. A lot of useful features. I don’t know about 7 years but i’m sure it can last 5 years. Google have learned how to improve quality of OS and Security Updates so everything should be fine. I hope Google will improve Tensor G3 efficiency. This resale value has taken too much place in discussion: most people should buy 400-500$ but since carriers want to make money and people have ego issues, they think about resale value as if it’s a graal: Money is gone, just enjoy your phone😅
I just sold my Pixel 8 Pro and returned to first iPhone 15 Pro, than regular 15. This is the best of the 3 by far. The Pixel was already slow, games were laging, the phone got really hot and the battery life was very bad because of this. Same with the 15 Pro, got hot and battery drained fast. The regular 15 is not heating, battery easily lasts a day, not like the other 2. I really wanted to like the 8 Pro and the 15 Pro, but they are not good phones.

Team pixel for life. Had the 7. When google made the 8 smaller. I had to get it. On paper it's not that much smaller. But once you get to feel it in the hands. It's perfect. I just wish it was a little lighter.
Haven't had a new phone since the Pixel 4, but I'm so glad I skipped all the bigger phones because I loved 4's size so much, now I know which phone I want next haha. Pixel 8 is just a few mm bigger each way than 4.
Apple is the Masters of robbing their own customers 👏. I think the wires for the wireless AirPods is the prize 🏆😮💨. But I don't like Samsung either with their slow charging still 😮💨
I've always had an android phone (OnePlus and Google Pixel), while my wife and children have had iPhones. They always seem to be charging their phones. The android phones I've had go quite a bit longer on a single charge.
It's such a shame that Google nerfed the pixel 8 so badly compared to its big brother. I hate big phones so the 8 pro is a no go for me, but I still want a premium camera with a telephoto, so that drove me to the iphone 15 pro this year
True that. I just upgraded to the Pixel 8, not a big upgrade from the Pixel 7, but the Pixel 8 is such a more premium experience. The 120Hz screen is great as well.
Pixel 8 is like no other phone I've used before... It's so beautiful, I just want to keep using it... And I had the iPhone 14 pro before this.... This one is such a welcome update...
7:58. This is very misleading. The track record shows Google has always 100% kept their word about how long they're going to support their devices. They did only promise 3 years of updates of those devices. And they delivered. So the track record is clean.
I love my wife's Iphone Pro Max Mega Extra Great, IOS is a neat and very safe environment. But, for freedom of choice, the Pixel 8 is just perfect for me.. Itunes sync, icloud and picture/video PC transfer nightmares keep me away from Apple.. I ditched the Iphone a few years back, and never looked back.
I would choose the Pixel any day over this iPhone except… not really… What am I going to do with my Apple Watch? The Pixel Watch isn’t that great. What about my iPad? The Pixel Tablet isn’t nearly as powerful. What about my MacBook? Don’t expect me to switch to a Chromebook from a Mac! It’s not about the phone but about the ecosystem nowadays. The Pixel 8 might be better than the iPhone in many aspects but even being able to use an Apple Watch with the iPhone might make it worth it for people like me. It’s a better experience overall. But Google if you really give us 7 years of updates, that’s really a HUGE step in the right direction.
As someone that’s been a pixel fan from the beginning and dropped iPhone as soon as the pixel came out, I switched to the iPhone 15 just because google showed nothing performance wise to make me interested in pixel 8 plus I don’t care about the AI features and it’s surprisingly been a pretty great experience. I’m mainly glad that my phone no longer gets hot just starting an app and my battery doesn’t go down super fast. It’s come a long way since those iPhone 6 days. I think everyone should switch to the other side every few years just to see how things have evolved.
If you got the base iPhone 15 and not the pro then I would say that doesn't really make sense. Paying premium prices for a 60hz screen is wild. If you got the pro then that makes more sense.
@@lumbruhjack8888 I mean the 120hz is the least worthwhile thing. It’s a nice to have but not anywhere near important enough for me to prioritize. I would’ve liked the new processor tho but didn’t want to wait 2 months for it to come back in stock
@@lumbruhjack8888 you guys are getting crazy with this 120hz displays. I have a phone with that and guess what? I switch that shit off cause it drains my battery like crazy. Ios is very optimised so even with 60hz it is still smooth.

The prices you have mentioned is for 128 GB version. Pixel 8 would cost 759 USD for 256 GB whereas iPhone costs 899 USD. Again a similar price gap. But if you are going to use phone for photos Primarily, iPhone clicks in HEIF format where images are less than Half the size of Pixels JPG format. Ideally, a 128 GB iPhone will do the job for most people in that case. My two cents ☺
That's not a similar price gap though. The fact that you can pay only $60 more for double the storage on the Pixel 8 is awesome. A $140 price jump for a 60hz screen iPhone sucks.
The battery life is better on the pixel in my two weeks of testing. My battery test includes 2 hours of video playback, 2 hours of social media scrolling, 30 minutes of 4k 30fps recording, 30 minutes of calling, and 30 minutes of gaming (Asphalt 9). I’ve designed the test to be repeatable and to simulate an average day of use for myself.
@@MarkSpurrellalright, sounds good. I‘ve tested the 7 pro back then and it was good but not brilliant in terms of battery life, I‘ve seen the 8 is a big step up tho. Great video, i would like to add also repairability or the lack of it in the case of iPhone. Not all countries have official Apple stores and repair centers so if you need to replace even battery there is an issue straight away. I can take my Pixel to almost any independent mobile repair shop near me and get it fixed in case i need to do so. I had both Pixel and iPhone - love them both but the evil policy of Apple steers me towards Pixel and away from Apple more and more.
It's really just about your preferred OS. Both phones in real world use will offer whatever baseline needs you may want. I prefer Android especially with Nova Launcher as I can fine tune the phone to my liking, atleast at the homescreen end. I've used iOS in the past, recently used the 13 mini before buying a 2nd hand pixel 5... I can say that iOS is still the best OS in just plain everyday performance. Everything works and the layout is already pleasing to the eyes. But the lack of any sort of customization gets boring really quick.
It works in iOS, except for switching Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS off in any quick way other than having to go to settings, a dedicated tab and switching them one by one from there. A nightmare.
It just makes no sense. Carriers + TH-camrs also have made this thing. If people are honnest, there are no reasons to buy a smartphone which costs more than 400-500$.

iPhones are just a little stale at the moment. Other than the improved camera, there are no real reasons to upgrade from the 14. Google somehow managed to release phones that feel fresh and new.
even if it was a big upgrade from the 14, in what world would you upgrade from an 800$ phone in less than a year? WHY??? isnt the whole point of buying an expensive phone keeping it for a while so it lasts while not really being left behind since it's really fast anyways?
Honestly apart from the software features (some of which are device-specific, learning from apple) the 8 has no significant changes tbh, that plus the 100$ price increase, not that exciting compared to some of the Chinese brands and even samsung
@@kyrios8518On the contrary, with my 2 year upgrade cycle, the camera array has had big upgrades across the board (on the Pro's that I get because not having the tele is not an option to me). Upgrading every year just isn't the move, and I'm even upgrading more often than I probably need or that most people do at 2 years.
I bought the Pixel 8. My phone history is Poco F1 --> iPhone XR --> Samsung A52s --> Pixel 8. I have been part of a team android and love the flexibility and unique open source apps available only in Android . I do love the display and camera of the pixel. But there is nothing else to like. The display is an absolute dealbreaker imho. A 60Hz Display in a phone that, over here, costs over 1000 USD is just absolutely ridiculous. As someone with a 120Hz phone, a 144Hz Monitor and a 120Hz iPad, every time I pick my old iPhone 12, it is noticeable, and it is awful.
One more thing is that 'always on display'. It might not be important for some people but it is for me. This features should already be on every phone in 2023.
The Apple iPhone 15 is an overall better package. I know that it has a 60hz display and a smaller battery size but it is better in performance, camera and especially in India you get much better customer service than Google. I personally like the dynamic Island it is so unique with it's own features.
It's crazy how Apple has got all Indians in a knot that they even like massive notches now. Look up performance stress tests for iphone 15 and pixel 8 on youtube. The iphone has a chip that miles and leaps better than the pixel, yet somehow falls behind in real word performance. Camera isn't really better, the pixel is better in some regards (such as still photos and capturing skin tones and overall AI enhancement features, the night mode is better too) while the iphone does better portraits and video. The only real point of contention here is the customer service but seriously, who are you kidding. If you broke anything on the iphone, get ready to shell out half the price of your phone to get it fixed.
The pixel has by far the better camera! Most people use the camera for photos, 7/10 times. So even though the iPhone has better video, it's just not comparable to pixel's still shots.
@@parth_19 the iphone and pixel on “camera mode” is almost on par while the iphone and pixel on “video mode” is not even a competition. camera goes to iphone…

Android is about 5 years ahead in smart features including text correction and voice dictation/ recognition. This is a feature I use all the time! iPhone has been so disappointing that I am switching back for good. It’s so bad that almost every 3rd word is falsely corrected on 13 pro when the 7 note Samsung was way better 8 years ago! This is so sad at how far iPhone is behind and people are still buying it like it’s the greatest thing in the world! It has become a brand buying more than what you need the phone to do. Impressing me on chip speed when in reality it does not make any difference is a complete scam!😂
smooth 60hz is enough of the eye am using 15plus and it really really smooth the only problem i have with apple is a 3rd cam they have to add a 3rd cam to base models
One important thing to note is In pixel 8 most of the photo AI features will only work if you have backed them up in google photos. And Gdrive comes with free limitation of 15 gb. So be mindful of that
@@parshakamarsh lol exactly, 1 dollar and i have an extra 100gb, no way people complain, my bank steals more than that monthly for random "service charges etc", plus apple charges more for their cloud storage
Google needs to improve the overall quality control for Pixel devices. I start with Pixel with great expectations every year and go back to a rival in a few months because of inconsistent performance.
I have the fold 4 and pixel 8. The simplicity, smoothness, and elegance of the pixel is unmatched. Sure the Samsung has more features, I just rarely find myself using them if ever. iOS is too closed/tied down and is boring AF
I agree as much as I like the pixel, the inconsistency and attention to details just put me off even from packaging. Also I like a small phone with telephoto lens kind of group.
From my experience Pixel phones batteries degrade very quickly. Whereas iPhones don’t. They also definitely more optimised on iOS due to software in standby mode.
Disagree on more stable and polished in what sense? I knew the 8 would be the better phone! 7 was already almost there. I switched to apple 2 years ago and can’t wait to go back. Android is in all sense a better phone and better integrated with the software which is more important to me than having a spec A16 chip it does in no sense contribute to being a better phone. The smart features on iPhone including typing correction is 10 years behind!
@@mjfamgo6563android 13 on pixel isn’t like android 13 on Samsung or Xiaomi or honor or oneplus or oppo. None of those devices will get android 14 at the same time. Some won’t get it at all. iPhones are simply: optimized. And will simply: stay supported. Google doesn’t make their chips. Apple does.
I donot agree with this. I had used Pixel 3A for 3 years without much loss in battery health. It mostly depends on the way you use it, if battery over heats, that would kill battery easily. But technically your point is little correct also, Pixel phones have always on display and Standby drain is more. This would lead to more battery cycles compared to iPhone
I was for long time team pixel but stuff that were coming back as problems didn't get any better with new models: no official shop in my country, problems with overheating, very bad signal strength - at one moment we had both with my husband pixel 6a and it failed as many times, last time we didn't have both signal in a supermarket!!! Also battery life...not the best. I switched to Samsung s23 ultra and first few months was great until they started to mess up all with updates that made camera and battery worse, also started to have WiFi connection problems so now I switched to iPhone 15 plus and we will see...so far so good (missing camera from pixel but only camera), bought it for 730€ thoe from outlet
The problem with your strategy is that apple is also known to push update who degrade the performances and the photo quality... to force you to buy new iphone after few years. they did this for years even on ipod lmao. i don't know if they still do this in 2024 but honnestly i would not be surprised

If you prefer a larger form factor pixel 8 pro is a better phone in every way hw and sw wise. I want a smaller phone with telefoto lens and there aren't many to select from. Once Google will sort this out next year in pixel 9 I'm done with iPhones.
Definitely not in every way hardware wise, the Tensor G3 processor is a joke to the A17, iPhone also has a WAY better battery life. Software is arguable and honestly just preference
I was in the same pool. T-Mobile gave me a heck of a deal on a trade in of a Pixel 7 to an iPhone 15 Pro and it was instant regret. I wanted to intercept the mail to get my Pixel 7 back. I just bought a Pixel 8 for $549 for Cyber Monday and picked it up just a little bit ago and am looking forward to selling the iPhone.
Yup! I love my Pixel 8 pro! The customization on it is SUPER EASY! In fact, I think it could be the easiest I have EVER experienced with a smartphone. It only took me 5-10 minutes or so upon 1st turning it on when I first got it to get it to where I wanted it. I designed it to be an "Aquaman" theme to go along with the Bay Blue Pixel I have. The AI features are amazing! I used the call screen option 3 times so far and I love that too. To actually be able to have an AI assistant take and screen my calls along with transcribe them live for me to see! Wow!
When comparing operating systems, iOS clearly surpasses Android. It's interesting to see people excuse Android's inferior user experience by praising its customizability. Frankly, Android falls short as a comprehensive OS. It's particularly irritating to have to rely on various third-party applications to enhance your experience, never really knowing if they might lead to harmful outcomes.
The amount of hardware that runs android to operate far exceeds IOS. You are talking about a preference. Android does more and is in more infrastructure all around you. Health care devices, banking/POS machines, VR (meta quest). You like IOS but what you just said makes you sound like a moron.
At the end of the day, they are both amazing phones. If you're an Apple person/In an Apple Family , get the iPhone. If your an Android person/In an Android/pc Family, go with the Pixel.
I had the iPhone 15, sold it for the new mint Pixel 8 and love it. Better keyboard, translator, faster scrolling. I am glad to make the switch. iOS is ok for some things and the phone is good but I feel like I am on a new level with the Pixel, just way more fun and useful. Sorry Apple.
Pixel 8 has a "polarising camera bump" while the iPhone has a traditional "square one"? Did you forget when iPhone 11 launched, it had the most polarising camera bump in the market.
You never talk about the storage I have a iPhone 12 and the biggest problem with a iPhone is the storage get filled up specially if you have the base 64 gb variant
I preordered the Pixel 8 Pro the day it was announced and am now back to using my iPhone 13 Pro Max. The camera is undeniably great and the display was beautiful. I also really enjoyed the customization but the OS was so glitchy it did not allow me to enjoy the pixel experience. I would constantly have to lock and unlock the phone to get the page to un-freeze. It would take multiple tries to get the bottom slide-up to work to have my apps closed. My battery felt like it drained a bit too fast as well. Even after all these years of a notch/pill, that blacked out chunk up top still looks so awful. Can't believe Apple, the 'king of design', actually implemented it into their flagship phones.
The iPhone, hardware performance-wise, steamrolls the Google Pixel 8. However, the sheer amount of software features that Android offers over iOS makes the iPhone look outdated by comparison. When it comes to photos, though, the Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra is just in a whole other league in comparison to both of these phones.
i doubt it, the tensor 3 is comparable to A13 and snapdragon Gen 1 in terms of raw performance and those chips are 4 years and 2years old at this point. even iPhones (with a better chip) start to get noticeably slower after OS 3-4 updates
Almost sure Google will break this promise of software update like many promises they broken in the past. Plus the chip is not that powerful despite the NPU
Me watching this video on my behemoth S22 Ultra 😂 You should've mentioned that the Pixel 8 Series has (almost) Apple's level of Facial Recognition security, and that Banking and Payment apps use Face Unlock on the Pixels now.
How can you give iPhone a point for design that's a negative for me as it's been the same design for many years you can't keep rewarding something that never seems to change it gets old in my opinion
7 years of updating so the chip is not even worth The A14 Bionic which is even more powerful, do you believe everything we say is just marketing Apple chips are much more efficient, they last much longer and you gave a point just for that
Google "claim" they will support for 7 years but they don't have a track record for that. Credibility matters. iPhone should still win in the software category with potentially pixel win if google keep their words.
It's obvious that you should go with the Pixel 8s.. I don't see what more value you can get from yet ANOTHER iPhone at this point in society. And if you already have iPhone, just keep what you have, and if not, than yea upgrade your technology not your brand. Pixel 8.

True that. I just upgraded to the Pixel 8, not a big upgrade from the Pixel 7, but the Pixel 8 is such a more premium experience.
The 120Hz screen is great as well.

I personally dislike always on displays, but the presence of a useful feature is always better than the absence of one.
Google needs to invest in customers service, retail stores and better stable software overall android is better however ios more stable more polished

I donot agree with this. I had used Pixel 3A for 3 years without much loss in battery health. It mostly depends on the way you use it, if battery over heats, that would kill battery easily.

You should've mentioned that the Pixel 8 Series has (almost) Apple's level of Facial Recognition security, and that Banking and Payment apps use Face Unlock on the Pixels now.
How can you give iPhone a point for design that's a negative for me as it's been the same design for many years you can't keep rewarding something that never seems to change it gets old in my opinion
Something that's nice but old is still way better than something that's new but ugly
@@GreenEagle54 and the video and camera quality of your last phone looks like shit
Iphone is the clear choice if you like the ecosystem.
For value you need to look at resale. Pixels values drop like a rock, iPhones don't
7 years of updating so the chip is not even worth The A14 Bionic which is even more powerful, do you believe everything we say is just marketing Apple chips are much more efficient, they last much longer and you gave a point just for that
No brainer I'd pick pixel 8 due to its better design, 120hz
So I just moved to Spain and spend a lot of time translating messages and shot…shud I just go for the pixel?
I wanted to know that which phone would really give a longer life without degrading on performance. like 4-5 years if consistency? Pleaseeee reply
Pixel 8.
How will battery perform with mobile data ? will iphone be better here ?
