Yes, cilantro is a natural chelator, meaning it helps the body eliminate heavy metals and toxins like lead. Lab, animal, and human studies also show cilantro fights inflammation, reduces pain, and enhances skin health.

I use cilantro when I eat salad, like this weekend. I started using it for that heavy metal chelation effect, especially as I eat wild salmon several times a week, so figured cilantro might help remove any mercury in the fish.

It also has a component called dodecenal that binds to receptors in the potassium channel, that helps open the channel, reducing excitability which can help reduce certain seizures in epilepsy. It also has important terpenes, linalool and pinene, which both have beneficial medical benefits, similar to certain strains of cannabis. Also, it tastes great!

Excellent video. I can not find any information on how much cilantro to use for daily chelation, only not to use too much. Please advise.

I didn't know it was good for my health. I ate it because it's delicious. My sister told me it's bad for health but that doesn't stop me from eating it because like I said, "delicious".

Thanks, Dr Berg! Why do some people think that cilantro tastes like soap?

can you take cilantro on its own because I read that you need to take it with another binding chelator such as chlorella or activated charcoal otherwise the heavy metals dont pass through the digestive system properly and just get redistributed throughout the body, which if to much is dislodged then redistributed in the body it can create symptoms of heavy metal poisoning. any information about this would help.

      That's my understanding, too....

Even with a binder, cilantro should be avoided. It has an unknown half life so it’s impossible to keep blood levels of it steady which is essential for safe chelation. You will cause massive redistribution if you use cilantro.
Chlorella has its own set of issues. Using them together doesn’t solve them.
Look up Andy Cutler Chelation. It’s the only safe protocol, designed to minimise redistribution. There’s a Facebook group.

Matthew Babel yes. Fabulous book. There’s also a new one he wrote with Rebecca Rust Lee called the Mercury Detoxification Manual. It’s a much easier read, more of a how to chelate guide. Also fabulous.

Andi Miller if you know the half life, you take further doses according to that timing. So a 3 hour half life means 3 hourly dosing, 4 hour half life means 4 hourly dosing etc. When you don’t know the half life, the best chance you have of keeping blood levels steady is to dose more often, but there’s no guarantee. You could dose hourly in an attempt to keep blood levels steady, but if cilantro happens to have a 30 minute half life you’re out of luck.
There is one other issue with cilantro too. Keeping doses consistent. You might decide that 1/4 cup of cilantro is a dose, so you take 1/4 cup every however often you guess is right. But the cilantro grown on one farm is different to that grown on another farm. The soil is different, the conditions are different, therefore the product you get at the end is different. It’s not known if different conditions will result in different amounts of the chelating compound, but it seems like a fair assumption to me considering that different growing conditions is known to result in different amounts of vitamins and minerals. So you might get 50mg of the active compound with one dose, then 100mg the next dose. Even if you grow your own to reduce variation, one plant gets more sunlight than another etc etc. It’s inconsistent.
Being poisoned with mercury is not natural. We can’t expect nature to have the best solution. I’m all for nature/natural, but not for this.
Join the Facebook group. Someone will interpret your hair test if you like and there’s huge amounts of info.

Dr could you please make a video on parsley as there is contradictory information on it. Some mention that it is good for kidneys while others mention that it is not safe and may promote chronic kidney disease. Also at one place it is mentioned that it helps fluid retention while in another place it says it may pronote edema
