Hi: I have the A119 on order with a 64GB card. I see you stuck the mounting base onto the “darken area” of the screen. The darken area has a rubber dot like coating and I am wondering if the mount stays on OK. What is your experience? I think the darken area is the best spot to hide the dashcam as long as you let the lens stick out at the bottom. The manual says you have to follow a special procedure to format the 64GB sd card. Is that still necessary with the latest firmware? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
The dots on the windshield are called dot matrix and the 3M double sided tape is strong enough to hold the camera in place. It's always good to use the device to format the card before use but I have had no issue when I format it using my PC.
I just bought this dashcam on gearbest.com as well. I noticed you installed yours directly on the polka dot tints inside your windshield. Isn't removing the dashcam in the future a concern since you will probably strip off the tints as well?
With that kind of problem, there is an issue with the dashcam. Only other thing you can try is a different memory card, do a factory reset via the menu.
The cigarette lighter does the 5V regulating and puts it onto the Mini USB connector. Hardwire can only be done if you use a cigarette lighter female plug and hardwire that behind the dash, then plug the adapter to that.
I wonder if GearBest sells a hefty 12 to 5 volt high current converter fr permanent installation for all the gadgets that might one put in the car. What is the capacity of the capacitor? How many minutes of recording can it do with full charge?

Today I got this camera and managed to get 64GB card working. Before inserting to dash cam you need to download FAT32- Formatter dod-tech.ca/dl/tools/FAT32-Formatter.exe copy this and paste it. Basically you need to format 64gb to FAT32. Computer allows only formating to EXFAT 32 but with this software i had no problem. after formating to FAT32 and inserting it to dash camera everything was fine...

Pretty much all dash cam will have a wide angle lens such as this. They do this to cover as much of the view as possible as accidents can happen from all angles. On the flip side, if they don't put in such a wide angle lens, and it misses something happening off to the side, the owner experience will be very poor.

Thanks for the great review. One thing I missed - GPS. Is it possible to obtain separately? Your video says: GPS module is not included.
This model does not include GPS module. I am not sure which optional GPS is compatible with this unit.

Did you fine that you need to power off the unit before shutting of the car or you last footage will be lost?

You need the power cable connected to ignition so it will turn on/off automatically.
