    Solid video. No fluff, no "uhh, yeah, so um" bumbling. Just straight to the point, articulate and hits all of the important stuff. 10/10 would watch again.

    I just installed this dashcam in my car and started looking on TH-cam for vids. Great job on yours. Was funny while watching it I noticed the camper store across the street from you getting off the freeway. I live in the same town. Small world. Keep up with all your great videos.

    Not sure why I can not reply to specific comments on this thread, but David, yes it is very easy to slide on and off if you want to take it off the windshield when you are not driving.

      +Boosted Films to get the videos off of it do we have to remove the camera and plug it into the computer? also the 5 min loop times, does that just mean every clip it records is maximum 5 mins or it turns on every 5 mins for 5 mins and then off for another 5, before turning back on.

    • @fptp01
      @fptp01 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KingsnakeSince1986 thanks man. I read somewhere else to stop the dropping between clips you have to turn off the motion sensor. The motion sensor looks for changes from the lens and so if it doesn't see change it won't record. But if you turn it off it'll record everything. And by motion I don't mean the game force.

    The red record light at the top blinks because the screen does shut off or can be shut off so you know its still recording.

    I am wanting to get this Dash Cam but i also want a Dash Cam that can do motion detection for when i lock my car up. This would be handy say if i parked up shopping then came back to find someone had keyed my car or damaged it i would have them on camera. How is this possible on this cam what would i need to do? Thanks in advance.

    Great review... obviously the manual included with the unit is useless. I have a couple of questions, perhaps you could respond...when I hook up the unit to my PC, the index shows lots of small 20-30 snips, with some going to 130. However, during playback the video player says it can't play the full clip. Secondly, if there is an incident I wish to keep, how do I do that? If I just pull the power cord, will the unit save the last 5 minute loop?

  • @minhlac9278
    @minhlac9278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you fine that you need to power off the unit before shutting of the car or you last footage will be lost?

  • @111graydog
    @111graydog 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Starting at 9:13 on the video, what's the display "8 h1" in the lower left of the display?
    With the unit behind the mirror, can you see the display while driving. Is there any need to see the display while driving? With the capacitor instead of battery, can you remove camera from car & take video without power cord? Sorry to ask dumb questions, but I'm new at this. I bought a DS8000L and it goes dead when disconnected from power cord, losing time / date data. Battery will not charge. I'm looking for a better camera.

    Great install video. Very clear instructions.
    Since it loops....if you got hot y by someone do ran a red light...what do you do, if you're not too injured to preserve the footage? If you are injured and say unconscious, will you lose the footage?
    Thank you

      I don't quite understand your question.. but for example, with a 16gb sd card, you can store about 7 hours of video of it, so you have your last 7 hours, when you turn off you car, the camera stops recording, so when you get home, or wake up from the hospital, you can just get the footage from the camera

    @tysoncoleman9399 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The capacitor in it is not for the date and time. It's so that if the power is suddenly cut to the camera (in a sever wreck) it has enough power to save the current recording before shutting down. Otherwise the current file, which is probably the one of the accident, is corrupted.

    Once this camera is mounted on the windscreen or dashboard, how easy is it to dismount it from its pedestal and re-mount it? Having just bought one, my first impression is that the pedestal is a very tight fit on the camera, and that it's going to be really difficult to remove it without the pedestal coming unstuck. I really don't want to leave the camera in the car, as that's just an invitation for someone to break into the car.

    • @va2_lee
      @va2_lee 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is EXTREMELY hard to remove. I have the same dash cam with the same hardware. You have to used a solid, thin object (like a credit card) to detach the mount from the windshield. From my experience, the sticky-stuff is no longer useful so I have a roll of double-sided tape as replacement.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where you install the wires depends on the vehicle. You need to find an ignition power source wire that delivers power when the vehicle comes on and a ground source. Usually the radio is the most common place to tap into an existing ignition wire. Google your vehicle type and look for the wiring diagram for the radio. Otherwise... pay a profession to do it.

    what does the "loop" function mean... it doesnt continously record?

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Diggity Figgity It does continuously record. the loop function just determines how long each recording is. So a 5min loop will have all the files recorded broken out by 5 minutes of video.

    Question: When you say as soon as you turn it on it will start recording do you mean as soon as you start the car it will start recording or do you have to power up the unit every time you start the car? I want one that will start recording every time I start the car. I don't want to have to turn it on every time.

    what is with the grounding portion you are talking about?

    • @OMGWTFLOLSMH
      @OMGWTFLOLSMH 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It needs power and ground, like all DC power supplied devices. With a hardwire kit you connect the red lead to a power source from the fuse box (or wherever you want to tap into), and the black lead attaches to a ground point, which is usually any metal bolt under the dash.
      This technique of wiring is called hardwiring because it is "permanently" wired. Of course it's not really permanent because you can simply detach it with tools later if desired, but it's not like a cigarette lighter socket type of install that can be instantly plugged/unplugged.

  • @AbhishekDeswalUW
    @AbhishekDeswalUW 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello. thank you for the video. I was wondering what does loop mean? For eg. you are driving and someone hits in your car and then what should I do on my dash cam? Should I click loop? should I click record? I want to buy the same model as yours in the video but really confused on how does loop and record function on it works.
    Thank you in advance

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Loop is really just another way of saying, "how often should i create a new clip". When set to 5 minutes, it creates a new clip/file on the sd card for every 5 minutes of video. This should be recording 24/7 while driving. If you need the footage, take out the SD card and copy it to your computer or wherever as soon as you can. If you have a 16gig card or larger, and got in an accident, you could still drive for about a hour (or more) before it would ever re-record over the file you need. hope this helps.

    • @AbhishekDeswalUW
      @AbhishekDeswalUW 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boosted Films thanks bud! It definitely helped :)

    • @AbhishekDeswalUW
      @AbhishekDeswalUW 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just installed one in my car today. I put in 16gb microSD. I wanted to ask that if i am driving in a day and nothing happens. So after microSD fills up...will it automatically override the previous memory? So in a way you would only have to plug in your dash cam to computer when you would need the file (lets say in case of an accident)? (Please let me know asap)

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you are correct. It will loop and record over the oldest file once the storage is full. If something happens and you need the footage, remove the mirco SD card and download it.
