It reminds me of Argel Tal, who's voice is constantly described as overlayed with the demon Rauhn's voice, but sometimes Argel's voice is more dominant, but then sometimes is Rauhn's. It depends on his mood and whether or not his more demonic features are coming to the front.
I do alot of acting in my dnd campaigns, let me tell you that gravelly voice is such a strain!

The fact that he doesn't wish for redemption is very powerful. He knows fully well his sins. But after the hazy cloud of Chaos left his eyes he felt all of them, weighing on him more than his armor or weapons ever did.
He wants The Emperor to erase him, and all trace of him.

I imagine the Emperor saying “i forget none of my children *insert astartes name*, i forgive you” then the astartes like disintegrates from the emperors holy might but in a like “thank you” way.
I like that but I imagine more of a “I cannot pardon you, for your sins are unforgivable. But I will grant you a quick end, a total end, your soul will not be given to them, but gone entirely.” And the marine is like “Yeah you know what that sounds kinda better thanks space dad.” And just gets painlessly vaporized
A bittersweet ending, but pretty appropriate in the 40k setting. I like it.

When Angron turned into a Demonprimarch after Nuceria, he had 2 Moods.
1. Breaking every seal, cell and chain that held him and killing everything in his lair on the conqueror.
2. Crying in a Corner and begging the Emperor for forgiveness and to save save him.
Poor Angron. It was almost as if everything that could have gone wrong happened ten times worse. His fall to Khorne was a tragic inevitable fate

Many people had accepted that if angron already had the butcher's nail implanted whatever the emperor did won't make a change. Angron would still fall to chaos
This reminds me of that story of the Deathguard marines who had their connection to the Warp severed and in their final moments they had become disgusted at what they had become and they died a painful death cause the warp was the only thing keeping them alive. Love stories like this

Nah, Chaos does not give power. It just takes your own potential an morphs it out of shape and balance. It just parasites on human nature, and only spiritually weak give in volonteraly.
The Emperor stood before him, calm, yet wrathful. Eyes that were both youthful innocence, yet elderly knowledge. He stood there, staring down at the Chaos Marine, "You made your choice. You will reap the consequences. No, you mustn't be forgotten, and you mustn't ever be forgiven. You will be remembered, you will be hated. So others do not fall in your footsteps. That is, in itself, your only solice. Is knowing that your death will keep unknown billions from taking the same route. And in this, I say thank you. For showing the way."
I swear this is from "Imperium Ascendant", but that might be misremembrance.

The lasgun hummed, a subtle mechanical sound that resonated in the eerie silence. The survivor, a lone guardsman, stepped into the shaft of sunlight streaming through the window, his features partially obscured by the harsh illumination.
The Chaos Marine's eyes met the survivor's, but he made no move, accepting the inevitable. The guardsman's words cut through the stillness, condemning the traitor for his heinous acts against humanity. The Chaos Marine's mind echoed with the guardsman's accusations, and he thought to himself, "He heard me."
The guardsman continued, his voice filled with both resentment and a strange sense of gratitude. "If it's death you want, I shall grant it. You are a traitor to mankind, a traitor to the Emperor. You should be hated for the things you have done, the sins you have committed. There shall be no forgiveness."
The Chaos Marine remained silent, his gaze fixed upon the guardsman. The survivor spoke again, acknowledging a bitter truth. "And yet, the Emperor hears you. You shall not be forgiven but will not be forgotten. Your death will serve as a lesson, a warning to others. In that, and only in that, lies your solace. Knowing that your demise will prevent unknown billions from taking the same path. Thank you for showing the way."
As the guardsman's words hung in the air, a tear escaped the Chaos Marine's eye, a silent acknowledgment of the weight of his sins. The laser gun clicked, and the guardsman's finger tightened on the trigger. Then, the deafening bang reverberated through the chamber, and a flurry of crows and ravens burst into the sky, scattering in every direction.
In that final moment, the Chaos Marine's mind flashed with memories - the day he became a Space Marine, the sight of his Primarch, the laugh with his brothers, the thrill of his first battle, and his first act of salvation. Amidst the chaos, a blinding light enveloped him, and a voice whispered, "Son."
In death, the Chaos Marine found a moment of unexpected solace, a glimpse of understanding and closure in the face of the eternal darkness that awaited him.
“Do unto me as you did to Lupercal. Erase my very soul so I can be beyond this pain of memory.”
"Hey astartes? Have you killed a traitor?"
"Long ago I've killed many during the horus heresy, there was one I couldn't kill

After the horus heresy I found out he was one of the world eaters that betrayed the emperor....so many times I've encountered him yet we couldn't even make a kill apart of many injuries and organ failure
So many millennium has passed, he was different...no longer the brother I knew
One day we fought, this time losing my leg in the battle I managed a fatal kill on him."
"Did he cursed you?"
"No...he just smiled despite his mutation, even saw tears in his eye's looking at me
He even thanked me for killing him."
"What happened next?"
"He just looked to the skies, started saying my emperor forgive me...then one last breath he was at peace that someone ended his tormented curse"

That last line hits so well. "Forgive me....and forget me." I can't even begin the analysis people in the other comments have but the way it was delivered is perfect: no gritty edge or a desperate final request through tears, instead it's a tired voice of a man who's realized his mistakes and sins, knowing that he can never undo them or redeem himself in his own heart even if others might see him better. He doesn't want pity or sympathy, he doesn't want kind words or a gentle hand to bring him back to the light, he just wants to die and be forgotten so he can never hurt another again even in memory. He treaded too far out into that black sea and knows he can never truly return.
It's somber but he'd be at peace. Though it's only fiction, may that space marine - not a traitor but a brother lost - rest in peace finally

It would hurt is the emperor was simply disgusted with him, but the fact the emperor looks upon him and is not only disgusted, but disappointed, hurts all the more for him.
He forsook the emperor for his own selfish desires and is now so much less then he ever was before.

The emperor doesn't even look mad or disappointed. He's just sad
it's a statue. He see's the mere image of the emperors face and chaos loses its influence
It goes by a different saying but it's a lesson that stays true even to this day.

The emperor teach but you have to be strong in your mental mind and body in the circumstances of battle and he he was weak in his mind believing the power he can kill any certain human but he forgot the light

Ironically, I remember turning to the chaos army because my Imperial guard kept losing. I wouldn't say I regret it yet, but I know of the power the warp gifts its followers.
The new Chaos Guard models coming out looks like fun for Guard players looking to branch out.

@@tadeuszjastrzebski1386 haha same! I also run guardsmen as cultists in my word bearers warband, I like to pretend my warlord collects them. He doesn't make them change their uniforms, because he likes to see the men and women of various regiments and from many worlds, all serving under his banner.

If the repentant Chaos Marine wanted to atone and show it, then he should follow Rylanor's example and bring down as much of the Chaos forces along with him.
I don't know how comparable that is frankly. Rylanor never lost himself to chaos.
To become twisted, possessed by the warp the way this marine seems to be.. I don't know how much they can resist anymore.
I think the line between his will, and the will of the gods he now serves has blurred so much that he can't go back, no matter how badly he may wish to.
Ya bro had an apifiny in this moment, but just like a drug addiction, the gods know how to keep their slaves in line. It's a legit miracle that he was able to slip free in this moment, but once he's on his own it will all come crashing back. And a broken sheild is a worthless sheild, cuss it can never be repaired the same way twice.
Rylanor really isn't the right example for this case.
Rylanor never felt to chaos, was always a beacon of hope and nobility and wanted to end a primarch
This would be more similar to the nurglite ultramarine who hid a nuke in his body, then Rylanors last stand cause Rylanor never fell to chaos.

If you're a proper chaos lord those claims aren't necessarily inaccurate, some of those guys are busted.
I mean Nurgle certainly makes their followers more delusional, in one of the books 2 Death Guards get their warp connection severed which firstly makes them disgusted at what they've become, before dying shortly thereafter.

The biggest relief anyone can give to a chaos marine that realized their mistake, is to put him out of his misery, and know them or not, its what they would want
The emperor sits upon the Golden Throne and see all that transpire in the galaxy. He will hear him and forgive him but never forget him.
The duel was hard fought, a close call that nearly ended in your demise as the traitor held his bolter to your head with a coldness in his eyes. It was only through the intervention in the form of a blinding light from the skies did you manage to pick up your power sword and shatter his weapon, allowing you time to get on your feet and be ready to engage in melee combat once again. Yet that was not the case.
Instead of reaching for his chainsword, the chaos marine fell to his knees and stared at you with what you realised was shock and disbelief, His bolter shattered into pieces as they lay scattered across the ground. For a while, he did not move, Even as you held your blade raised to behead him.
Then...he spoke in a tangent as he launched into a tale. Of his thirst of power, of a lust for strength, of crushing his enemies.
Momentarily, you had considered ending the treasonous heretic then and there as you saw no reason to listen to the ramblings of a dead man, but as you stared into his eyes, you saw it.
How it morphed from joyful glee in recounting his time as a warrior of chaos, to regret and horror at what he had become. His gaze was distant as he recalled his ideals and reasons for becoming a Space marine. His words of noble intentions genuine and of the truth, words that did not differ in your own reason to become one yourself
And at the end of this tale was nothing but bitter regret and the lamenting of a broken soldier, steeped far too long in the flames of war, and burned so darkly that nothing remained of the being he once was.
And just as quickly as clarity returned to his eyes, when his voice sounded almost Human, the taint of chaos had begun to creep in once more as he cried out to the emperor, for forgiveness...and his memory thrown to oblivion.
He offered no resistance as you plunged your sword through his chest, made no move to save himself as you cut him down for good, and nary a sound was made as he fell over and died without a sound other than a dull thud that resounded in the desert plains around you.
As you knelt in a position with your sword close, you prayed to the Emperor. Not for victory, nor for strength. But that this fallen marine may know his peace, that the gods of chaos could no longer torment this once honourable soldier any longer.
Damn. I'm saving this.

I never though that a Chaos Marine would actually make me tear up with words of repent.
But woah, you can feel the true feelings of being ashamed and utterly sad after realizing he lost the light of the Emperor.

As someone who has been through rough times as many have, I like the idea that it was not only power they sought after, but a release from the horrors they witnessed every day. Imagine fighting necrons, tyranids, orks, seeing your brothers fall every day, blood day in and day out. Knowing you could be next, the terror creeping slowly into your mind, Death only ever a few minutes away. Or even worse, lost on an alien planet, no respite in sight, only the ever forward march of decay as brothers fall from hazards, sickness, and the local populace. We few are all that remain, the strongest, the fastest, the broken. Imagine what pacts you would make in such dark hours, what deals you would seek to gain some semblance of control back into your life.
I'd sacrifice about 3.50 for that to be fair.
You can only expierience so much shit until it gets you, even if you are a Space Marine.
This hits hard… especially if you see it as a grandson asking his grandfather to forgive him.

Too bad GW is still on an iron gripped Inquistion on fan animators. Imagine this animated in glorious SFM with this God Emperor-tier voice work.
You can feel this Space Marine's internal conflict, and that brief moment of cognizance when his Warp tainted voice briefly returned to it's righteous glory, as he pleads to the God Emperor to erase him for his weakness when he turned his back to the Imperium and from his guiding grace.
I can dream. ❤️

... Before I dealt the final blow, I saw something within his eyes. For a moment, I swear on he on terra, I saw the cloud in his eyes disappeared.
So you do pity him...
... How could I not? The moment of clarity that dwell in his eyes... It screams of great pain. He saw it brother, saw all of the horrors he had done... and could not live with it. He could have dodge the blow, could have kept fighting... but somehow, I knew he didn't want that. He wanted his pain to end, the misery to finally come and pass. I felt the emperor grasped my shoulder brother... and guided my blade to end the suffering of one of his fallen son.

But they become weak because they don't realize they just pased the line from sanity and insanity, and the best example are World Eaters who like all others Korne worshipers if they don't venerate Korne too much they will keep they're minds intacts like that guardsmans who has become plague zombies but they keepet they're minds.
Most of the world eaters get insane and savage cuz of butcher's Nails if i don't mistaken .even kharn was a cool dude once.

Angron was weak because of the butcher nails because when they implanted in his brain they needet to remove parts of his brain because wasn't a human to have a normal brain and because the nails was still in there it was always in pain because his brain was always regenerating, but Kharn was very strong too, and the remaining Worlds Eaters who has mentained was the last librarians of the Worlds Eaters who tried to save Angron from being turned by the bighest dickhead ever Lorgar who comparing with Horus Lorgar has chosen chaos from his own will when Horus didn't know it about chaos and it was to scared and confused to ask the Emperor or Magnus to try cure from the daemonic plague inflicted by that xenos sword stolen by the Erebus who was a biger dickhead even than Lorgar now i remember.

The MOMENT someone realizes they don't deserve to be Forgiven and are willing to submit to Justice, no matter how Severe or Horrific it may be they, become someone worth Forgiving!

can you imagine the tragedy of a chaos space marine regaining his conscious? the amount of pain and regret he would feel for having killed, slayed and butchered his own kin for millenia for some delusion of power and imortality, man... i think his mind would be shattered the moment he became aware of his abhorrent crimes against The Emperor and humanity.
This reminds me of a quote i heard from a book *"i came not to seek redemption.....i came.... To be punished"*
I always find stories like this really interesting, of traitor marines deciding to side with the Imperium, even if it's just to offer themselves up to be finished off. I highly suggest that anyone who reads this go look up "Confessions of a Wayward Son," about a Thousand Sons sorcerer and some Rubric Marines fighting for the Imperium by hunting down "other" traitors.

In Old Warhammer there was a story about (a high priestess of?) the goddess Shallya stopping a Nurgle warband in its tracks by dumping healing magic into the Chaos Lord to the point of redeeming-resurrecting the Reiksguard Templar he was before he caught Warp COVID, and he turned on his followers.
Between that, Rylanor, that Word Bearer dreadnought, and this, there's a definite precedent for redemption from Chaos.

I dont know the original scene where this takes place, but I personally like to think this is when the emperor is moving through the vengeful spirit.
Droves of chaos space marines are beholden to the emperor's presence. They then throw down their weapons and kneel before him.

This reminds me of Milton's "Paradise Lost". After the Fall, the angels were planning what to do next. One such idea was the provoke God to such a point to where he would erase all trace of their existence.
Seeing a Chaos Marine wanting redemption and death at the same time, is truly a rare moment. Wished that there's a way to revert any Chaos Marines and Cult like back to Humanity without ever killing them, only curing to what has been severely infected both their Physical, Sanity and Mentally.

The corruption of the Chaos Gods is nothing when faced with the corruption of the Emperor.
The ones that hit me is when they ask those they loved so long ago for forgiveness or have a memory from their childhood.
A soldier having an epiphany for his action deserves to be redeemed. It was just orders and he saw it through but realising the pain it wrought on others and his soul at his dying breath is worthy to be honoured.
After the recent Horus heresy book and the last one , that forgive part is actually pretty relevant regarding to the Emperors last words to Horus

You can hear how slowly the marine is turning back to a human, you can hear his corrupted his voice is slowly turning back to his real voice when he was still loyal. That's a level of detail I love to see

I pity the traitor legions especially the Emperor's Hound(Would Eaters), the Dusk Raiders (Death Gaurd), Iron Warriors and the Emperor's Children.
These legions weren't corrupted of themselves, it's only when their Primarch's took command to reshape them did the seeds of corruption where planted the Emperor's Hounds and the Dusk raiders suffered the most.
Emperor's Hounds where still butchers, but there was logic behind their thinking. In a close quarters fight a space marine dominated just about everything so why not take advantage of it. They weren't screaming berserker lashing out at random without a plan, they where soldiers, warriors tasked in conquering the galaxy. It was only when Angron was brought in(killing half of the legions leadership) and the implementation of the butchers nails where they doomed to fall.
The Dusk raiders, well liked to attack after dusk and was a far more cooperative legion to the Imperial Army that the Dusk Raiders would even fight along sides them. By all metrics this legion would have fought for the Emperor. Its only when Mortarion and the culture of his people did the legion fall, Duration Istvaan the majority of those deemed loyal to the Emperor where most terrain born the original legionaries, and even after that more of is legion fought against him witch again where terrain born.
Hell one of the founding members if the Inquisition and Grey Knights was a member of the death gaurd.

Night lords to the terran born were loyal, the nastramo born were the one that poisened the legion.
@@codemaster6521 Only because the planet decayed during the Night Haunter's absence. Once the planet got worse again, the people got worse on a moral level. Then they were the ones left. It's not the Nostramo born. Stationing at least some of your marines on your home planet to keep a lid on things as your representative likely would have solved at least a few things. Now that it's been mentioned, there was a specific moment when Konrad could have averted his fate and changed his fall to chaos. I forgot off the top of my head what the details were. I'd check out the Night Lords book. The one with the lone wolf night lord waking up on a ship shortly after Tsagualsa.
Do you know what I’m gonna to comment here too, he is right...he is weak for the reasons he said so, he was so scared of being weak or forgotten that he was willing to throw himself into the arms of anyone who could promise him power or being a part of something that you get your name put on and I don’t even disrespect him for that, a lot of us humans do that already and it is sad, but I also think he’s a bit of an idiot for calling himself weak he did show some strength by being able to identify the toxic Behavior he put himself in and when his last moments he pulled himself from such toxic thinking
