The final of the three 'Dante meets' videos I wanted to get out!
Going to try and do some more Blood Angels and Dante at a later date but, for now, time to move on to some other things!

Please do the interaction between Nathaniel Garro and Rogal Dorn, where Garro says to Dorn “Are you blind?” When he tells Dorn about his Primarch brothers’ treason against the Emperor.
Dante: Please let me just die.
Robute: Here's a promotion, you rule the shit half the imperium now.
Dante weeps.

At least the Lion has returned to take the majority of the his burden.

What is funny is both Dante and G-Man have died and brought back more than once at this point. Both just want death but still serve.

Hard to say if getting a promotion from Rawbutt Gorillaman is either a blessing or a curse.... I'd err on the side of the latter myself.
Much as I want Rogal or Russ to return next, it needs to be Vulcan just so he can give Dante the Imperium's most needed mega hug.
Guilliman could do with one too.

Hands-down Dante is the best chapter master, for what he has done for 1,200 years and for Baal and the sons of Sanguinius. Absolute chad who gains respect from the Primarchs.
It would be incredibly difficult to argue with that really, he's earned his respect, for sure!

He's literally the main space marine character now. Calgar has basically been sidelined since Bobby-G return and slam dunked by abbadon ending the rivalry GW use to push and now Dante is now the main space marine meeting both gorilla man and the lion.

This scene encapsulates survivors guilt and PTSD so perfectly. Dante sees only what he’s failed to do rather than what he gained for others.
The first Space marine in what 10 thousand years to meet two loyal Primarchs (three if you count Sanguinius bringing him back to life) and he’s the oldest that isn’t a Chaos/dreadnought or Primarch character or warp shenanigans
Man got his wish for death revoked and had the chance to meet two of his uncles
@@justinianthegreat1444 I wouldn’t be surprised if he meets another Primarch in the future he’s a warrior and pretty efficient at it but interesting is that in both cases the Lion and Gullimen saved or came in to aid him when he was about to die even Sanguinius did so in the vision such a hero that others would back you in you’re time of need
and he still manages to be so very human through all of it!
I think that's why he is so compelling. He's so incredible 'Astartes' whilst being so human at the same time.

@@Channel-23s His plot armor shines so brightly even Primarchs see it across the galaxy and come to his aid.
Guilliman will always be my favorite Primarch for the simple fact that he's the most human to me. He's cold and calculating when necessary like the Lion, regal and refined like Sanguineous, loyal and unbending like Dorn, and compassionate and human like Vulkan. He's a perfect mixture of all of them to me,, and he was the only choice in my mind for the first Primarch to return and actually be able to start saving the Imperium. I absolutely cannot wait for Guilliman and the Lion to reunite, and for both of them to finally have an actual equal, a brother to rely on like both of them want and need.

Many forget that guilliman can just be as savage as russ.. Remember that he lead a charge against the gal'vorbak in melee and caused them to fear..
Or when Bobby G was fighting a gang of word bearers in 0g without a helmet on and literally crushing skulls with his bare hands. Guilliman is insane boy. 🤣
Dante might be the greatest astartes to have ever lived . You could probably make a good argument for someone else but Dante is at least in the conversation

It’s crazy to think about, but Dante has been alive longer and seen more war than either G man or The lion. They were between 2-300 by the time of their respective comas, and dante is like 1500 years old.
Now obviously both primarchs will still be better tacticians and fighters but imagine how trippy it must have been for Guillman to meet a space marine 7x his own age
There is one loyal Primarch that was around for longer in the Imperium than Dante fighting in real space. Vulkan. He managed to stay within the Imperium up until The War of the Beast in M32.

Yes and no. Primarchs had much more variety of deadly enemies in the great crusade than modern imperium has ever faced. If you had GC era imperium facing these threats it wouldnt be nearly as doom and gloom. But zealotry, stagnation and corruption have halted and doomed the imperium. You have to realize that Dante has been fighting thr same war for 1,000 years against the same enemies. Vs primarchs who faced variety of deadly aliens and had to face the traitors in their prime all within 250~ years. Needless to say its beyond superhuman feat.
@@_NutcasE_ I’ll agree with the idea that the imperium had more threats during the crusade but they only had a couple that actually match the fuckery going on right now.
The rangdan were a tough one, still likely nowhere near as bad as the Tyranids tho. The Khrave at peak power was also a hell no, and the Ullanor crusade happened for a reason. Regardless of that,the book G man wrote about combat and chapter structure and shit was based off his crusade era enemies and it’s been shown to be more and more unreliable with time.
I don’t think it’s fair to say one state of the galaxy had worse threats, just different ones that posed different risks to different governmental structures.

To some it reads like a comic book line I’m sure. To men it reads like the weight of a million worlds carried on the shoulders of a single person. Because he must. Because it is the right thing to say.
And because he's the only one being in existence who can. He always has been the only Primarch who knew how to run an empire from the ground up. Hell, he was in the middle of building one already when the Emperor found him. His brothers may have been great warriors, but Guilliman got the Emperor's finesse for governance and politics.

Man Dante got the most earned respect/honor he’s seen so much war and to face the tyrnids and survive with 300 space marines and be praised by Sanguinius and Gullimen is something that’s amazing to see
(Sidenote only chapter that wasn’t there was Lamenters which is both good and bad)
About 1/4 of the blood didn’t make it to Baal, but he didn’t mind because they were so far away they couldn’t help

@@Channel-23s no, in the book it’s mentioned that a bunch couldn’t make it, some they’d simply lost contact with and others were unable to make it for various reasons, none are mentioned by name, but Dante does think about it in the book during the grand welcoming feast before the battle I believe
Someone mentioned somewhere that he forgave the lamenters for not being there, given they were already tied up with other more immediate matters

So Dante has met 4 primarchs in the current setting. Sanguinius, Guilliman, Angron, and now Lion.
Edit; he also met the Silent King. Dante is pretty much the Stan Lee of 40K.

Guilliman is ambiguous. He is playful on one side, a calm and diplomatic person the second, then a hot-boiling death incarnate the third.
That he is! I am glad we get to see both sides, as much as he gets a little bit of a ribbing for being the 'avenging bean counter' he's still a Primarch! A colossal power! (and perhaps the most human of them all)

I needed to put a bit of that in there but, indeed, wanted to attempt my own take on his voice. It is a deceptively tough voice for me to attempt for some reason, it took a while to settle on what I ended up going with!
And, that may still shift slightly.
Rowboat Girlyman was a lot of things, but mostly a politician. He knew when to stand with those who earned it.

From what I’ve heard the Dante books are great and people highly recommend and Dante has a new primaris model blessed is the Imperium for a Hero fights for almost 2000 years

Dante must have his eternal suffering. This scene is just after Dante his vision of Sanguinus and after he barely killed Swarm Lord.
I'm so happy to see G man being so humble to Dante. Makes me proud to play UltraSmurfs.

God-Emperor, the image of this ancient, exhausted Space Marine, a fresh scar just now added to those countless inflicted over a millennium and a half of near ceaseless combat, stands before a demi god. Brother to his own gene sire, and son of the Emperor of Mankind, this semi-divine being deigns invites that you speak to him as an equal. And what does Dante do? He bursts into tears. Over one thousand years of blood, of insanity, of brothers falling to threats within and without and seeing his Chapter brought to the brink of ruin on multiple occasions, he finally has someone he can speak to as an equal... and he just cries.
Imagine meeting a primarch and the Avenging Son at that and then inturn him elevating you up.
People give the Boy's on the Box a hard time, but I will fight anyone who says Guilliman NOW isn't the most interesting Primarch by faaar.
As much as I enjoy giving them a bit of a hard time myself too, in truth? I couldn't really contest that, he is certainly one of the most human, well rounded Primarchs.
The Lion seems like he is going in a similar direction since his return, any extra character nuance we can get from them I am all for!

Justified when you're a literal Demi-God with the weight of a galactic empire and the lives on countless people on your shoulders. With that context, he is actually jarringly humble, there are plenty with far less who are less humble by orders of magnitude.

True, he equated Dante with himself, and by extension the loyal Primarchs, i do not think there is a greater praise than that.
Dante gets his "Primarch level" respect badge. The Lion also saw that he should be treated like an equal.
Guiliman though regal powerful and practical, still had massive respect and empathy for Dante and the Angels. Knowing what they just went thru. He didn’t lord it over them or was high and mighty. He knew to win the coming battles he needed more like Dante and showing them every respect due, with genuine care as he was in some ways a step father or uncle. He and Sanguinius shared some blood and sweat together so that history became writ large in Guilimans return
Such epic reunions that are ahead for 40K! Unless WWIII blow us up first

Rowboat being a good uncle, a truly touching family moment for a family that is normally so disfunctional that their family spat fucked up the whole galaxy. It's the gentle moments like this that I love most.
Guilliman always believed in merit, to the point that Ultramar is an enforced meritocracy. And if anyone, Dante really did put something down on the table. Hence the show of utmost respect.

Guilliman, the primarch. The veteran of the Great Crusades. Who fought bitterly through the Horus Heresy. Who led the Imperium after for as long as he could.
For him to acknowledge Dante as an equal speaks to the magnitude of Dante's achievements.
If anything, to add to what everyone said already here, I can see Reboute caring even more so because those are the sons of Sanguinius, a brother he had a close bond with and that he respected a lot. Must have been heart wrenching for Guilliman to see Dante reach this breaking point.

I feel like people undersell two insanely weighty moments in this scene. The one thats less underappreciated is Guilliman telling Dante he's one of a small handful who have earned the right to be an equal to Guilliman. Most people who read the book or hear about the scene appreciate the weight of that. But the part I feel almost ALWAYS gets overlooked is Guilliman telling Dante that by the time the Ultramarines arrived on Baal, the Hive Fleet had already been so insanely weakened that the tyranids were "easily defeated" and sent running. Consider that. Guilliman, who is still getting used to what the fuck a tyranid even is at this point, arrives to Baal to find the world in tatters and flames, yes, but also to find it victorious. To find that his most beloved brothers greatest son had done the *impossible* and beaten a Hivefleet to the point of failure. That Dante's extreme measures of calling Exterminatus on dozens of worlds *had paid off.* To arrive on Baal, and discover the truest successor of Sanguinius imaginable still breathing and able to serve.
Dante gets loads of love and appreciation from the community, but I still feel like people undersell his tactical brilliance. For my money, the only reason Imperium Nihilus is even still around to be saved by the Blood Angels and Dark Angels is because of Dante's brilliance during and leading up to Baal.
Even moreso when you realize the Hive Mind is not some instinct driven beast. It is a cunning, clever, alien intelligence potent enough to routinely humiliate *competent* Human commanders and strong enough to serve chaos its own ass *in the warp* on more than one occasion. To actually manage to best it is no small feat.
My fricking god-emperor this is so damn awesome to witnessed in audio form.

I can see how any war veteran in the real world would respect the hell out of Dante for his sacrifices and his prowess as a soldier. Vets recognize their own.
I hope we get the other Loyalist Primarchs to return. Like Vulcan, Corvus Corax, Jaghatai Khan…
But most importantly Sanguinius. Yeah I know he died at the hands of Horus, but if Sisters of Battle can come back to life why can’t the Angelic Primarch?
The only Space Marine to ever weep, let alone in front of a Primarch... who called said Space Marine an equal... and not one soul will look down on him for it.

Honestly I think Leviathan should have been destroyed at Baal and the Fourth Tyrannic War be a New Hive Fleet. Give it a new name and colour scheme and make it the big bad of 10th edition. I would call it Hive Fleet Charybdis after the monster of Greek mythology.
This way we could give the blood angles a win even if Phyrric like what the Ultramarines got against Behemoth.

I wonder if Dante was mostly crying to Sanguinius, not Guilliman. Apologizing for what he feels like "abandoning"(not true, he has earned his rest) the Imperium during its resurrection.
Dante, never has there lived a more loyal servant of the realms. His Visage should be as honored as the mask he bears....
Even if you give Guilliman didn't even last 500 years post siege. Counting the 200 years of crusading & heresy, Dante has more experience.
That conversation was like the whole book a blast to read.....I only wished they have spoken some thigns about sagnuinius

Dante is just amazing!
This is like, the Son of God showing up, being like: “Status Report?” To the oldest Space Marine. Who himself has been through so many hells, because duty for a Space Marine does not end, until death. Even then, not always.
Only to be snapped back to the present to tell the Son of God: “We lost everything, Sir. The whole Imperium. Our planet, our homes, our very souls… all of it is gone, I'm so sorry.”
And, that very same Son of God, who has actually spoken to his Father; a fractured being feeding on 1000 souls a day, for 10,000 years, just to be a lighthouse for ants living and feeding on his corpse.
Hittem with the: “Fear not, my boy! For I shall save the Imperium!” What a fucking task that will be. A war, so titanic, it burnt half the galaxy. And in the God Emperor's absence, Chaos and Xenos fester. Dante gotta lock in, this is only like act 2.

If Dante is allowed to speak with him on Equal Terms… I can only imagine Bjorn and Guilliman speaking.

Have to say, Dante functionally fainting is possibly the greater easter egg possible to Alighieri.
For reference, Dante Alighieri wrote the Divine Comedy and in the Inferno he as a character has a habit of closing chapters by fainting.

That painting in the background portrays ridiculous proportions primarchs have.. Coz look at guilliman's pauldron, it's the size of dante's torso.. Imagine how vulkan would compare..

and, I gave 'The Ghosts of Cadia' short story a listen, is that original work? It is very well written! Very nice.
Hard to give specific feedback on the writing as I just very much enjoyed it, I would say you could put an EQ on the audio perhaps, remove some of the mouth noises by cutting out the very top end?
I'm no audio expert for sure but I tend to use a Noise gate, an EQ and a Compressor.
