I just came across your video and ordered this part as it was not replaced with all the other work done and hopefully it solves my issues and i can pass an inspection. Thank you.

I love that you are enjoying your Soul! You should hopefully feel an immediate change once your change the valve. Cheers to many more wonderful years with your Soul!
Thanks for the video. I was getting ready to do my ignition coils and plugs at 100k on my 2014 Soul and realized I hadn't done this either. I just had to replace the catalytic converter so I'm making sure everything else is good to go now. This was really helpful!
What a fantastic video and so well hosted/presented by you. You're the first person of all the videos that audibly compares the two valves. I am about to change mine as my valve sounds just like your old/bad one. Thank you for the video.
Super informative video, thanks for making it! I have a 2013 Kia Soul currently at 101,000 miles. At 85,000 miles I noticed that my car had barely any oil; after taking it into the dealership, I was told that the car was burning oil, and the only thing I could do was to check the oil level and just refill it. Ever since then, I have been pouring 5W-20 High Mileage Synthetic oil, as well as adding Lucas Motor Oil. Additionally, I have been adding Seafoam into the gasoline tank. Just recently, I replaced the paper Air Filter with a K&N Air filter; previously if I were driving at 55mph my rpms were around 2500-2800, now my rpms are at 2000 even when I hit 58 mph. Still super concerned with its oil consumption, but I will definitely look into buying the PCV Valve, and hopefully replace it!

Great video Mel. I have a 2014 Soul + with 94k miles. Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones replacing the PCV valve on my Kia Soul for the first time. The old valve came out okay without any problem. Installing the new one that I got at a local auto parts store was not so kind however. I tightened it by hand as much as I could, then a little tighter with a deep socket and ratchet, but not too tight. Apparently that was still too tight. The new valve busted in half behind the rubber grommet. The threaded part was still in the hole. Luckily I had a large screwdriver and i was able to twist and pry the threaded section out of the hole and put my old valve back in, which still seemed functional. This time I put my ratchet aside and used only the deep socket to tighten it by hand as much as I could. Hopefully it is enough.
Thanks for your videos! I just traded in my 2015 Soul+ at 99,986 miles after getting it back from repairs for a failed Kia Boyz attempt. New car of choice? A 2023 Soul EX fresh off the truck! I love the Kia Souls.
Just had engine oil change and pcv valve change as you showed .Try to suck transmission oil from top. The hole was too narrow and it had a barrier layer. Maybe you can do a video teach us how to suck transmission oil from top. There is a sensor look like can take out but I didn’t find how to get loose.
Hello! I just bought a 2020 Soul and am concerned about its oil consumption, so checking the PCV is first on my list. I'll be subscribed to your video series for sure!

Ok, so does anyone have any suggestions on getting the rubber hose that it attached to the pcv valve off? My sister has a 2018 Soul. Popped the engine cover off, found and slide the insulating cover down, pinched the clip and slid that down, and the rubber hose that is attached to the pcv valve does NOT budge! I can clearly see a separation, and was able to turn the valve somewhat, but it is recessed into an area that makes it hard to unscrew. It doesn't make it any better that the cold weather is coming back and we don't have a garage. About ready to give up and call to see if someone else will do it.
Hey sorry for the late reply but there are two ways to get the hose off. You can use pliers. You would need to grip the hose with the pliers and turn it to the left while keeping the pcv valve in place. That should remove the seal. The other way is with the Automotive hose remover. 2017 kia soul..my car is burning oil..I took it to the shop and they said I have a val leak or broken valve. Something like that. What should I do to safe money
Hey! I would find out for sure which valve they are referring to. I would try changing the pcv valve then on your next oil change ask for an engine flush. Hope this helps!
Did you notice any smoke due to old worn out PCV valve? I have Kia forte with the same engine as your and have been experiencing white smoke from exhaust.
@@MentorMel Hmm, I don't know how to do that. You're supposed to change the valve every 30k miles. A friend of mine has a 2014 Kia Soul that's burning a lot of oil and I put a new PCV valve on it to try and fix the issue.
2016 Kia Soul base. 105702. Very sad to say I'm 300 mi away from losing my extended warranty. I feel like I'm having all these issues. But the main issue is the oil consumption. Scary, scary, scary, scary. The way I figured it out, engine started to stall, I was in the middle of driving around to Uber so it resulted in a one star and I had to convinced Uber I didn't get in an accident because the asshole said I got in an accident so he could get his money back even though I told him I was going to ask Uber to refund him. -Anyway, stalled out, wasn't able to drive it because it went into limp mode. I stalled, pulled into a parking lot, checked the oil and realized I was extremely low. Low, barely a drip on the dipstick. Pretty much just oil filter filled. I immediately freaked out and didn't know what to do. Went and got oil. filled it up. Tried to drive it home and it was in limp mode. It stayed in limp mode for about 12 hours until the next day. I was able to drive it around the neighborhood but it sounded terrible. Had it taken to The Kia dealership and they said it was my catalytic converter. Recently my light had came on saying my catalytic converter. P420. Anyway, it's been driving pretty good now, but I'm pretty sure it sounds like the engine's a little rougher. I'm looking into things like liquid Molly, trying to figure out what's the best solutions for my car just to maintain it and keep it going. I love this car.
Hey! I'm sorry you've been having a rough experience with your car. I would recommend doing the intake valve cleaning. I created a video for that. As for the engine oil consumption there really isn't a fix but to monitor your oil levels. I made a video to check those as well. I often run an engine flush every 3rd oil change but I still experience oil consumption as well. I hope this info helps. 🙏
Since I changed the valve and did the engine flush, I'm probably losing a quart between oil changes. I try to change my oil every 3 to 5k. More so 3k as you can never go wrong with more frequent oil changes.
@@MentorMel 2019 1.6 here. Pretty late on my oil change and 62,000 miles in. Oil light came on during turns. Put in two quarts and read up. Kind of a messed up deal IMO but I guess I just need to pay more attention huh? Dealer not likely to help the situation even under warranty I hear?
Yeah it's the things the dealership doesn't actually tell you but have it hidden in heaps of paperwork. Once I changed my pvc valve I also did an engine flush along with an oil additive and that now seems to leave me at full.
It won't resolve the issue but it will gibe you some better pull off power. I'd recommend getting a piston ring cleaning then doing an oil consumption test with Kia.
People do not know this simple thing and would go about saying KIA's are crap. my 2017 Kia forte is about 90,000 miles and still strong every day........because I change my oil every 5 thousand miles/and check my PCV valve frequently. The pcv could be either stuck open or closed and it could cause problems. If you change it frequently...u are good to go.

Check this out...Tufoil..Original PTFE oil treatment..Runs through all VVT systems..No clogs through oil filters/bypass valve oil filters only on all vehicles/ Dupont created teflon/Kevlar...Forever chemicals for engines only way for maximum protection. Sure I'll see what I can come up with. After poking around. The process seemed pretty manageable. There's a video out that I watched of a newer kia but the mechanics are basically still the same. Hope this helps!

@@MentorMel Thank you!
2016 1.6 Kia Soul . Replaced it at 35,000 miles . The old PCV was plugged.
That's great! Easy swap?
NICE! A Soul Sista 😂😂 Keep making these.
Haha absolutely ❤️
i finally change my pcv valve at 81,000 miles then i use carb spray to clean valve cover on my 2016 kia soul 2.0 gdi
Nice I hope you are feeling a difference
@@MentorMel yes my kia soul is happy nomore misfire
Success!! Congrats!!
@@MentorMel familykia want$98.00 extra to change my pcv valve
Crazy right! I priced it out at a travel mechanic and they wanted $240 for that same job. 😳
2023 Soul Ex w/ 500 miles and I will definitely be doing this when I reach 30K. I do check the oil every 3-500 miles anyways
Yes definitely check often. Glad this info helped!
Need to know when the egr needs replacement 2019 69k
Hey that would depend on the health of your engine and maintenance.
Thank you

Awesome! Stay on top of engine maintenance.

Thanks. Great content. Beautiful smile.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😁
Thanks a lot !!
Did you notice any smoke due to old worn out PCV valve? I have Kia forte with the same engine as your and have been experiencing white smoke from exhaust.
Prior to changing the valve I did not have any smoke coming out. An intake valve cleaning may be needed for your situation.
Nice job! Save me some serious money. Thanks!
Absolutely! I read that mechanics charge up to 200 for this swap. 🤯
I just got brave and did this Sunday on my soul 💪
Yay!! I was nervous when I did mine too! Glad you got it done! 💪🏾 See cars aren't too scary. 😁
2010 kia soul 4u, 5spd manual, 2.0L.. 250,000km💪
That's awesome! I hope to be like you!
2010 Kia soul, base model, 1.6L, M/T, 275.000km. Never changed that valve 😱🙈 12 years using the vehicle. ❤️
So did it solve your oil consumption issue in the 3 months shy of 2 years since you made this video?
No it's a forever problem. I'd recommend installing a catch can
@@MentorMel Hmm, I don't know how to do that. You're supposed to change the valve every 30k miles. A friend of mine has a 2014 Kia Soul that's burning a lot of oil and I put a new PCV valve on it to try and fix the issue.
Gotcha I have another video for the throttle body cleaning. Instead of using your hand use the gas pedal to open and close the throttle body.
@@MentorMel...so do you just add oil if you run out before you get it changed..??...
Unfortunately yes, that's the only option to prevent catsrophic failure.
How did it go
For you? I have the same code and my car is burning oil like crazy. Around 2k miles and it’s empty
@shawn1472
Please. Please. Kia soul 2012 here, automatic 2.0L never replaced, just cleaned every year and that's it.
2020 Kia sorento ex gdi fully loaded v6 with 15,000 miles but I might need an oil change it’s eating gas
That or a valve cleaning. Also look at gas treatments
Thanks for the video! How is your oil consumption now?
Since I changed the valve and did the engine flush, I'm probably losing a quart between oil changes. I try to change my oil every 3 to 5k. More so 3k as you can never go wrong with more frequent oil changes.
@@MentorMel Thanks!
@@MentorMel Oil additive?
Mel do you live in Toronto
No live in the states.
@@MentorMel do a cabin air filter and normal engine air filter for video in the future
I have one posted on the page. I believe it's the 3rd video.
My friends Kia soul is drinking oil....100 k miles she's never changed the pcv valve I'm gonna do it and see if it solves the problem
It won't resolve the issue but it will gibe you some better pull off power. I'd recommend getting a piston ring cleaning then doing an oil consumption test with Kia.
Mel u the best
Thanks! ☺️ Thank you for your support!
@@MentorMel u in canada
No I'm in the US.
Absolutely Kias do get a bad rep however these cars just require more upkeep than the average vehicle. I love my soul lol.
Thank you
Most welcome!
Is this true of the new 2023 souls?
This is probably true for all Kia Souls.
