KIA ENGINE SETTLEMENT | FIX YOUR PCV IF YOU ARE BURNING OIL | HOW TO CHANGE PCV IN KIA OPTIMA

  • In this quick video I show you the special way to change out your pcv valve. You are going to want to change this out if you are burning oil at a rapid rate. I was burning a quart of oil per week at the very least. I could not figure out why. I then did some research on Kia's and found that the PCV Valve goes bad on these cars and that can cause a lot of engine oil burning. Click the link below to get your pcv valve.

Thanks you showed me the correct location on my 2014 Kia Optima 2.4 GDI. But guys save yourself some time get the hose off and use a 13/16 deep socket or metric equivalent socket. No banging on a plastic pcv valve it just comes right off with a deep socket. Hope this helps.

I hope it works for you. We replaced ours at our mechanics. He said it seemed stiff but was shaking freely. He also said just because it's moving freely doesn't mean it's working properly and for it's low cost, you should replace it every 20,000 to 30,000 miles. They are cheap and easy to install.
I will update the video I made on our Kia Soul to let everyone know what we've done so far. Thanks so much for your videos. This confirms it's not an isolated issue and Kia needs to address this.

Nah, didnt work at all. There is a new recall on these engines due to the oil consumption. What sucks is KIA/Hyundai wont replace the engines unless they explode. Thats why mine is sitting in my driveway and I am starting a campaign to stop paying for my KIA until they pay it off. If enough of us do this, then we will make a big enough situation for them to pay everyone for our piece of crap cars. Please join me.

I completely agree with you, but there is no way we could stop making payments on it. I don't want my credit ruined. So it's like they got us by our balls. And they know it.

I have a 2019 Kia Optima LX with the 2.4L. I was told multiple times that my car didn't have any recalls and that my engine wasn't included in the replacement campaign... I bought mine new with 15 miles and I'm sitting at just over 67k miles. I thought mine was burning oil but after removing the bottom cover that covers the oil pan, I see oil leaking from the drain plug. I will replace the drain plug gasket and will change the PCV valve next. After that I will do the spark plugs, but soon I will need to get transmission serviced.

We have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 that has major engine failure. Purchased in January 2020 with 71k. Loved this vehicle until recently. Engine light came on, motor failed later that day. My son and his girlfriend were stuck on a blind curve in I81 here in Virginia, they managed to get off the road, they were in a bad spot. State police had to shut down lanes so they could be towed out, so glad we called and they waited behind them with flashing lights until rescue basically. I81 is full of trucks, I drive a Semi as well, I know the dangers involved in situations like this.
Thank you again Lord for keeping them safe. So, 3 dealers can't help us, we did not have KSDS recall work done, we had never heard of such a thing. Vehicle has 118k and is faulty based on VIN. We didn't know about Class Action Lawsuit until last week, everything occured in March 2022, recently. I was hoping for some insight or direction please. Tried the Nissan dealership where we bought the vehicle, apparently they can sell vehicles with open recalls. Still owe $12,000 on this vehicle.
Your videos have helped us tremendously all ready, keep inspiring and making this world a better place.

There are many kia cars using oil. I was surprised when my 2013 Kia Optima got a valve sticking noise as I always had my car serviced at our local dealer. It occurred to me at that time that the oil our dealer was using was not of the quality I expected. Began using a top quality Mobil one and valve noise stopped. Car still using about a quart of oil per month but quiet. 130,000 mi on odometer.

Good content. I don't believe that is a gdi (gasoline direct injection) engine. GDI engines unfortunately use a lot of oil especially after getting some mileage on it. Gasoline is injected directly into the cylinder at higher pressure. The Gas washes the oil down the cylinder wall and that causes increased wear on the compression rings. Also the oil is diluted and becomes thinner and vaporizes easier. These vapors carry up through the PCV system back into the intake.where it coats the valves and carbons them up. Other people have said that they change their oil and for 1000 miles they don't use oil, then their engine starts using oil. (Oil dilution). My 2023 Kia Soul went back to MPI or I would not have bought it. The PCV valve is an often overlooked part that can cause some big problems if they fail. I hope that you don't mind me adding my two cents, Thanks for the video

@@StraightOuttaContent Man, what a story, yeah, you can change the whole engine, but must be lucky that the new or second hand one ain't an oil drinker... Good luck. Maybe you have to do with leaking piston rings inside the engine. Consider a compression test or a view in the holes where the spark plugs are in. If they discover oil or your spraks are already with burnt oil traces than the engine is worn and burning oil.

It’s actually 21 mm shouldn’t be any different on 2021 Kia soul and if your on a budget don’t have the funds like I do you can clean the PCV valve to you can replace it properly I use carb and throttle body cleaner spray it let sit for 15 to 20 minutes in a old cup then spray the inside of it till you don’t see anymore dirty oil or gunk spray inside again holding the spray inside shake it up then poor it out ….should get you going till next payday but replace it if you can asap❤😮❤

Hope you guys know on GDI engines you can’t just check the oil before you start it up it will give you a false reading idk why but it does. Manual says turn the car on for five minutes then off for five minutes and then check. I thought I was burning excessive oil but I was just reading the oil the old fashion way instead of waiting. Hope this helps

Yea, thats totally incorrect lmao. These engines "Theta II" have a massive recall and oil consumption issues. As well as a recall on the rod bearings hence why all of the engines fail at some time or another. Might want to check the rest of my videos to see what Im talking about.

Man, super late to the party. Question have you heard of anyone getting warranty approved without ksds?

    • @Paul-hy5ei
      @Paul-hy5ei ปีที่แล้ว +1

Adam, I'm living it right now. 2016 Kia Soul + with the 2.0L engine. My dealer is playing hardball, zero chance of warranty engine replacement if you haven't done the KSDS program upgrade. I had the KSDS upgrade done under a recall many months ago, and went into "limp" mode just a couple weeks ago. They're saying I just had a bad knock sensor, but my engine has magically started burning oil (101,000 mi), whereas it has never burned a drop in the past. I do most of my maintenance myself, and keep a detailed log, but they're even fighting me on that because I'm missing some receipts. Kia is doing everything they can to avoid warranty repairs. I've heard their customer service is second-to-none, not so in my experience. Best of luck to you friend. They've declared my engine "good," so I'll keep on rolling until she gives up the ghost, which won't be long ...
