The trick to beating sugar is remembering - it’s actually less tempting the longer you stay away from it! Do everything to get through that first day and you’ll be cruising. You never crave sugar more than the few minutes after you finish your last treat. I call it riding the sugar train, that cycle of eating sweets, getting that high, crashing and doing it all over again. But sugar only makes you want more sugar, it’s a craving that never actually gets satisfied.

When you go out to eat with friends, order steak, the BEST cut , no potato, no bread. Sit at the end or corner of the table. Do have a salad, with regular ranch dressing. Treat yourself to that giant steak and you won't eat carbs, and it's a treat, don't worry about the cost. Enjoy the meal.

Here's something that might help: Before you start eating the way Dr. Hyman suggests, make sure you have plenty of healthy, tasty snacks with healthy fats in them. You can find great ideas online. It's an investment in your well-being! All the best to you!
1st- Make a decision to break the sugar habit. 2nd- Quit cold turkey. 3rd- Don't drink your calories, eat them. Eliminate soda, ect. 4th- Add protein to every single meal. 5th- Eat the right carbohydrates for 10 days. Only non-starchy vegetables. 6th- Manage your stress. 7th- Quit gluten and dairy for 10 days. 8th- Get at least 8 hours of sleep.
Because what they are calling "sugar" is really a toxic and highly addictive CHEMICAL DRUG: HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP MADE FROM GENETICALLY MODIFIED FRANKEN-CORN!! People ate cane sugar sweetened treats all the time back in the 60s and 70s and everyone looked like models back then. Almost NOBODY was fat, much less obese. Do the math. Stop being duped by these devils.
* *It took a MONTH for my sugar cravings to cease!* * That was the tough area for myself. Mostly, after dinner I'd want a nutty-buddy peanut wafer crunch bar (Little Debbie, I believe they're called). Yes, I DID quit cold-turkey. My physical was last week and the doctor was impressed with the bloodwork. He asked me how: - Borderline fatty liver is no longer. - Cholesterol levels are back in check. - Blood/sugar is within normal range. - Blood pressure still a bit high at 148/85 (normal for someone in their 60's is 140/80). - Dropped 20 pounds (10 kilo). - And I'm training for a half-marathon in the spring (13.1 miles / 21 km). - All this was accomplished over the summer and fall of 2021 *- WITHOUT -* medicines.
Here's a trick I did, for the first 3 days I made sure I was out of the house and really busy, and wasn't thinking about sugar and sweet things. If your just watching TV all the first few days than it is super difficult not to give into the cravings! If you can do that than the sugar cravings by day 4 are much less intense!!!
It’s not easy but after a few days it gets easier. I cut it gradually. I get the odd craving now and then, but not that often. I loved sugary food. I lost a 14lb in just over 2 weeks. Just by cutting the sugar out.
Years ago I managed to stop processed sugar for an year and a half and I felt amazing. My skin felt amazing, no more bloating, regular bowel movements and no weightgain. The first 2 weeks I must say were really difficult. I can assure you it's worth it. I am starting today again.
Sugar addiction is physiological not psychological. Sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine. But sugar addiction is easier to break than a drug addiction. It takes only ten days to break a sugar addiction. Hear are the keys to break the sugar habit. Do this for ten days and you won't crave sugar 1. Make a thoughtful, conscientious decision to quit sugar 2. quick cold turkey all sugar, flour and artificial sweetners 3 eliminate msg's and processed food that can feed addition to sugar. 4. eliminate sport drinks, soft drinks, juices, teas, etc (green vegetable juice is ok) 5 add protein to every meal eggs, fish, nuts, 6. non starchy vegetables, asparagus, green beans, etc 7. eat natural fats: avocado, nuts, etc 8 manage stress. mental stress changes the body chemistry 9. quit glutten and dairy 10. sleep. get eight hours of sleep. I'll give this a try
+Joe Smith what for a shit eight times more addictive than cocaine, in what do you measures this??? It is quite easy to stop sugar, but quite difficult to stop cocaine, alcohol and the rest......
+Frederic Beigbeder it is more addictive and it has been tested on animals. Rats addicted to cocaine were choosing sugar over cocaine. Do some research and you will be shocked learning about sugar. I couldn't understand it before but this is a serious addiction. You can be eating chocolate without even realising it. You can be awake at night sweating because you need sugar. And when you stop? Your symptoms are no different from the symptoms of any other addict out there.
what a bullshit.........sugar to compare with cocaine is most ridicolous ever.....I stopped sugar, no discussion.......this silly comparision do not help.....
Hello everyone , So i am currently doing this detox. And i want to let ypu know my experience for each day. So i am 99 kg and 172 cm. I am obese and have had problems with my hormone levels so not easy for me to lose weight. I have not had a period for months... So i got the book and follow everything that it says. I only eat the produce that it allows me, no cheating. I also drink 2-3 ounces of water a day. Day 1: i felt great, very enthusiastic. I had no cravings, it was great. Day 2: the most difficult day sonfR. I had cravings all day. I tried to stop it by having loads of fresh veggies, but did not work. Also I had a banging headache all day. Also i felt so very tired and hard to concentrate. Day 3: i was feeling better, but headaches remained for a little vit longer. My cravings for chocolate kind of just settled. I felt really tired though still. I weighed myself and i was 98kg. I dont knownif it is actual fat loss or just me not eating much. At this point is also started to be difficult to keep cooking and prepare every single mel for the day and do shopping for it. Meal prepping is time consuming Day 4 & 5: it was getting easier to not think of sweets and other carbs. I started having abdominal pain, which i did not understand. I head no head aches at this point. But still felt so tired. Day 6 : The abdominal pains continues and my period actually started which was such a suprise for me. It must have been more than 5 months before i had it. Heasaches went away completely. I dont crave sugar that much, just a little bit. I crave food that others in my surrounding eat. Day 7: feeling good ! And i lost 2.5 kg (5.5 pounds). ! I havent had any headaches today! Day 8 : So i lost 3.2 kg by now. I have no headache. I am not hungry and my cravings have settld down a lot. I am constantly very thirsty, instead of being hungry (this is because my body is in high fat burning level- ketosis) Day 9 &10: I actually did not struggle at all on these days. I do not crave sugar or carbs as bad as i did before the diet. My acne has mainly disappeared. I am not out of breath when i go up the stairs. I weigh 95 kg, so lost 4.9 kg. Amazing!!!:) I do feel healthier and continuing with the diet to lose more weight.
I stopped having chocolate, sweets and sugary pop since Sunday I've now been free from it now nearly a week and honestly I now don't want sugar it seems too sickly to me. I was addicted for sure. You don't realise until you stop.
hahah, but really why are we only eating stuff that isn't made from mother earth? it's kind of weird right? Maybe because they put alot of unnatural ingredients that make us crazy addict's and can't stop. Then we get sick and have to pay more money. Who wins from this?
Minrr Dosjhahs Umm is this a joke? Sugar literally comes from nature lmao. And if you think about it pretty much all the stuff we eat or drink comes from nature but it’s just processed

Successfully completed 30 days without sugar/sweets and began a diet. Lost 12-13 pounds in that month. Didn’t eat any sweets and only had granola as a snack on the side. Had a slice of ice cream cake to celebrate the month and now transitioning to having a sugary snack once a week. Once I had my cake I felt some cravings come back but I’m used to kicking them away now.
From my own experience in quitting sugar, re-introducing it in small amounts is like a recovering alcoholic re-introducing alcohol in small amounts. It doesnt end well. This from someone that has quit sugar completely several times only to be pulled back in applying the same logic as the OP.
@@dondajulah4168 same here. I always think “I’m good now, I can reintroduce it in small amounts, just like any normal person.” Three days later I’m addicted again.
The past month I’ve been sugar free and have been prioritizing my health. I’m super proud of myself :) it wasn’t very hard, I just had to develop some self control around things that I know are not good for my body.
@@Sky10811 hi. Well they do go eventually but a drink of juice helps, or a piece of fruit. The cravings are a nightmare but stuck with it, in a few weeks you will feel so much better in yourself 🇬🇧🙏
The mistake many people make is they don't realise how dangerous sugar is! What annoys is me the most is the fat free industry. Every single product labeled as fat free has a much higher sugar content. It's shocking! If you don't believe me, watch That Sugar Film documentary. 😡
Fat free foods have a higher sugar content to make the product more palatable. Same with diet pop. You actually end up drinking more diet pop to get the same effect you are seeking from regular pop, and artificial sweeteners are even more dangerous to your body than natural sugar. I wish everyone the best in breaking their sugar addiction!
Ikr! Because there's less fat they put in more sugar so it doesn't taste like cardboard. Then they slap the words fat free on it and everyone thinks it's healthy.
I have been clean for years, than I started to eat snack bars as I started going to uni and now it's worst than ever. Gained nearly 30 pounds and my acne showed up again. Tomorrow morning I'll start this 10 days challenge. Wish me luck
I went cold turkey for a couple of weeks, and all of a sudden I got rid of my sugar cravings. The problem was that I did it just cause I was broke and couldn't afford it. I felt very miserable the whole time. fortunately, now I feel more optimistic.
I’m on day 6 of no sugar. Day 1-3 totally sucked. Day 4-6 also totally sucked but a little less. It’s getting easier. This is the first day I haven’t had a massive headache. I haven’t been physically hungry at all (just mental cravings) and without eating sugar I’ve been averaging 1300 calories a day with no problem.
Keep going. I have gone sugar-free several times. I'm back on track now and I feel like exercising when I eat right. And I usually only need 2 meals a day, no snacking- because when you're eating right, it's hard to cram more food in.

Haha. That sounds like me! I've cut back as I too, am afraid to acquire diabetes. It's next to impossible! I just hope it isn't too late for me as I've eaten way too many sweets for years.
I didn't realize how addictive sugar was until I went on the keto diet for 30 days. I had to come off of it for medical reasons and decided to have a cinnamon roll, against all my better judgement. I could not believe how overpowering the sweetness was, and how little flavour was in it, firstly. But then I was blown away that despite not liking the taste and and wanting to stop, I kept eating and eating, feeling like a slave to the compulsive urge to just lose myself in it. I was so blown away because I'd never realized what it was really like all the years of having a sugar-filled diet, and how disgusting it actually is to eat the food.
Btw if anyone here loves sugary soft drinks but wants to quit them, grab yourself sparking water with minimal sodium and 0 sugar (obviously) and buy some limes. Squeeze half a lime or full lime into about a pint of sparkling water. Boom. Best substitute for soft drinks i've ever found. Haven't tried oranges or pineapple with sparkling water yet but i'm going to later today.
I had tried this MANY times, always lost in the end and had the opposite response eventually, the longer i restricted myself, the more pronounced the eventual binge. Maximum diet length was a few months. My sugar addiction doesn’t magically reset even if i avoid unhealthy carbs and sweets for a month. The cravings get more persistent with time.
On Tuesday I will finish my detox from sugar. Since January first, I have been eating only meat, eggs, and cheese. Lost 5 pounds already. Bad side effects: headaches and itchy skin. Good side effects: I can smell things better, belly bloating got down, weight loss.
There is a place in Northern CA called Weimar Institute that can turn you health (and bad eati g habits) around in just a few weeks. I'm thinking of going there.
Spot On ! Ive started to see the impact of free sugar and free gluten diet ... wow ! ive never had so much energy and ever strength on my whole body. Two weeks into my diet i lost about 7kg without any physical workout ...
During quarantine I gained around 15 pounds in a couple months from eating absolute garbage food and playing games all day. I've gone 2 days with very little/no fast-food and SIGNIFICANTLY less sugar and already I feel a world of difference. I also have added exercise to that and I feel like a new person in days. YOU CAN DO IT, GUYS! Make NO excuses. Just commit and take control of your life!
Eating protein at meals, removing sugary drinks, and switching to the right amount and type of starch foods, I agree, are important strategies for removing sugar cravings. however, I've found that including occasional intentional treats, instead of quitting 100% of sugar, is more successful for clients over the long-term.
@@Anna133199 I agree, unless u are an Olympic athlete otherwise I would be adding suicide to the end of that list.. We are here to enjoy ourselves and are given taste buds for a reason! 🙂 💪
Thank you! Great advices Here’s my take on it - don’t bring sweets to home. Although, when I am stressed, I go out to look for sweet, but it definitely takes more effort and I have time to doubt and rethink.
I'm on day 3 of cutting processed sugar now cold turkey (I'll update after 10 days), and I finally feel the cravings subsiding. But I'm going slow. I have not cut out flour or dairy yet, but I have made it more minimal, like switching to tortillas and flatbread/drinking water. Day 2 was the hardest for me... I had to turn down homemade strawberry ice cream, and the case of cokes that've been sitting on the table since before day 1. Here are some changes (but mind that I am 22 and female) - I've had no bloating, I used to constantly switch the notches on my watch, but that's gone. - My night owl behaviors are going away (Also taking vitamin D3) - The tiny bumps on my upper arms and thighs are starting to go away - My taste is changing, and now plain veggies taste stronger and more appealing than before - Not drowsy throughout the day - Getting deeper, better rest Overall, I'm glad I tried this. I have better self-esteem, and I don't desire to overeat. I swear sugar makes you hungrier.
Day 8: Almost there! The bumps on my skin are almost nonexistent. Dark circles heavily reduced too. I have also notice it get way softer to the touch. I've lost 6 pounds steady, but then again, I have not completely stopped eating flour. I feel no craving anymore for candy or soda. I'm so motivated to exercise, and even think about it through the day. I feel really happy and my sleep schedule is as perfect as clockwork now. 😄
More than half a month in. Excited to report my skin has totally cleared up, and my teeth are great! Started craving VEGGIES instead! I did taste a tiny bit of chocolate, but I was surprised to see I didn't really enjoy it. Junk food taste quite gross now. My life has really taken a 180° all from this video. I could not be more happy. I don't even feel the need to attend therapy anymore 😊
Thank you very much for this video. It literally turned my life around. I used to eat one bar if chocolate + a dessert everyday. What this person says, it's easier to do than it seems and it works like a charm. I've recommend this technique to so many people. Now, I still remember the pleasure of eating sweet things, but I can't do it anymore. If I try, I feel like my tongue is getting attacked! I know there are many people struggling like me, so as someone who has experienced the same problem, I urge you to try this method. It's a matter of only 10 days.
I'm on day 2 and not even doing it 100% yet, I'm taking this real slow. I can definitely feel anxiety, restlessness, depression, foggy brain, droopy eye, drowsiness from day 1. Reading helps. Drinking a small cup of matcha w almond milk also helps. Anyone who's currently going through all of these effects?
It is not odd at all. You are getting low blood sugar because your body is still used to pumping out insulin. Research "keto flu" before cutting sugar out cold turkey. The best remedy is lots of water & electrolytes.
I would like to know how many ppl in the comments actually completed this detox and is now free from sugar addiction? It’s great advice but it seems quite impractical to me.

I stopped just over 2 months ago. It is very true that the more you eat the more you crave. Literally had to fight the cravings and distract myself all the time. After about 3 days the cravings stopped. I only have a very small amount of anything sugary now, and only occasionally. I was having a ridiculous amount before that ....well it felt like that to me, though probably not as much as my husband is still consuming. It was mainly chocolate with me.

I guess I just need to give my body time to adjust! Maybe I should consider lower sugar fruits as well and cut the bananas and mangoes. Stick to berries, melons & citrus. 🙂

But how can certain food taste nice without milk and cheese and butter or yoghurts??

It’s insane that sugar is so addictive. Why is something so good, so bad lol

- Cholesterol levels are back in check.

- Dropped 20 pounds (10 kilo).
- And I'm training for a half-marathon in the spring (13.1 miles / 21 km).

Sugar addiction is physiological not psychological.
Sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine.
But sugar addiction is easier to break than a drug addiction.
It takes only ten days to break a sugar addiction.
Hear are the keys to break the sugar habit. Do this for ten days and you won't crave sugar
1. Make a thoughtful, conscientious decision to quit sugar
2. quick cold turkey all sugar, flour and artificial sweetners
3 eliminate msg's and processed food that can feed addition to sugar.
4. eliminate sport drinks, soft drinks, juices, teas, etc (green vegetable juice is ok)
5 add protein to every meal eggs, fish, nuts,
6. non starchy vegetables, asparagus, green beans, etc
7. eat natural fats: avocado, nuts, etc
8 manage stress. mental stress changes the body chemistry
9. quit glutten and dairy
10. sleep. get eight hours of sleep.
I'll give this a try
Hello! Did you try this? If so, How did it work for you?
+Joe Smith
what for a shit eight times more addictive than cocaine, in what do you measures this??? It is quite easy to stop sugar, but quite difficult to stop cocaine, alcohol and the rest......
sugar more addictive then coke are you out your fucking mind have you ever seen or saw or witnessed a coke head
Hello everyone ,
So i am currently doing this detox.
Meal prepping is time consuming
Day 4 & 5: it was getting easier to not think of sweets and other carbs.
Day 8 :
So i lost 3.2 kg by now. I have no headache. I am not hungry and my cravings have settld down a lot. I am constantly very thirsty, instead of being hungry (this is because my body is in high fat burning level- ketosis)
Day 9 &10:
I actually did not struggle at all on these days. I do not crave sugar or carbs as bad as i did before the diet. My acne has mainly disappeared. I am not out of breath when i go up the stairs. I weigh 95 kg, so lost 4.9 kg. Amazing!!!:)
I do feel healthier and continuing with the diet to lose more weight.
Updates? Have you kept it up? Did the craving completely disappear?
Thanks for this detailed account. Very helpful!
Hi @Alexandra Saliga, how are you doing now? Are you still of the sugar & carbs? Where you able to keep of it the whole time? Any more weight loss?

Fat free foods have a higher sugar content to make the product more palatable. Same with diet pop.
Here are some changes (but mind that I am 22 and female)
- I've had no bloating, I used to constantly switch the notches on my watch, but that's gone.
- My night owl behaviors are going away (Also taking vitamin D3)
- The tiny bumps on my upper arms and thighs are starting to go away
- My taste is changing, and now plain veggies taste stronger and more appealing than before
- Not drowsy throughout the day
- Getting deeper, better rest
Overall, I'm glad I tried this.

Odd. Guess your body got accustomed to it.
My turn, I'm starting today! My birthday is Friday, ohh maybe I should start then 🤔.. nope my decision is made it begins today. No cake for me, this is what you call starting with a bang! 💥 wishing you all a wonderful day! 💫💞
•Make a decision to break habit
•Quit cold turkey
•Dont drink calories but eat them
•Add protein
•Eat only non starch veggies
•Manage stress and dont do emotional eating
•Quit dairy
•Sleep for 8hours
ONLY TEN DAYS? I can’t go 6 hours
Bruh same
I am not sure if I would agree that it takes 10 days to quit sugar. Everyone is different I know it took me one and a half months the first time around to get over it and reset my body.
It,s a gd start. Quiting dairy and bread too tho? Too hard.
I've seen this man in so many documentaries. He's doing the lord's work.
The key points all there. No need to quit dairy. Nothing wrong in cottage cheese, some semi-skimmed milk in your coffee. The more you instantly deprived yourself- the harder is stay on in control.
No need to quit dairy?? A vast amount of research on health says otherwise.
@@fridaynightlights2971 Research is always done with bias. I've seen positive research results on dairy products (and saturated fats) and negative. For the most part, it seems to be still unknown.
I added sugar and creamer to my coffee every day for years. One day about 15 years ago , I just thought, "This crap is terrible for me.", and I drank my coffee black. Been drinking my coffee black every day since. It wasn't hard.
@@morebeer7673 for u not.for the majorty of ppl it is
Milk has natural sugar . We need that.
Evidently this doctor has never had a sugar addiction habit...
ikr
LOL!
+TheGg1117 eat fat to reduce the sugar withdrawl---cook bacon and eat it ---it will get you over the 10 day withdrawl
Thank you!! White sugar is a drug; some say more addictive
than heroin I've heard. I've been struggling with this fucking addiction for over 40 years and tried EVERYTHING to no avail. This doctor has no clue.
I went on atkins diet years ago and I promised myself to lay off sugar. The withdrawal symptoms I had were the worse thing in my life. I had severe migraine headaches, felt sick, went through mood swings and felt like I was going to die. I never want to experience that again but once I got over it I felt like I didn't need sugar anymore and I started to felt the fat off with diet and exercise. Sugar is the worst thing in the world to break because its everywhere in our foods. I regained the weight but I need to try to break it again.
I’m cutting sugar for a month in 2019, when I feel better I’ll keep going 🤟🏾
Felt amazing. Then Valentine’s Day came and I ate chocolate. Still completed my goal for a month. I’m starting back again tomorrow but, this time for a year
I’m on day 3 of cutting out monkfruit sweetener and ice cream!! Those were my 2 sweet treats. The evening is the most difficult time for me. I’m basically eating a carnivore diet. Zero carbs! It hasn’t been easy but I’m determined to push through. I have done this before and lost weight and felt great!
I really need this because I just can't handle a day without sugar 😭
Right!! It’s crazy
The key information starts at 1:10 - if you are looking to get to the point.
i'm literally watching this while eating a Snickers bar
Starting my 30days no sugar challenge from tomorrow! 15th Oct 2021! Will come here after 1 week for the update. Wish me luck. 👍🏻😵💫
Hang in there y'all; we can do this!! It will be worth it.
I think I’m going to cry, I’m so addicted to sugar but my acne is bad👁👄👁
I know I have a serious addiction to sugar. Listening to these steps are sending me into a panic. I don’t think I’m ready.
The devil is after you, I hope you don't let it win. Praying for you !
Excellent! I'm on day 4 today and already reaping the benefits mentioned by this friendly Doctor! Thank you sir!
