    Great video! Thinking of doing this as well. Own a xp1000 3 seater. Will the shorter wheelbase make the machine too top heavy? Also what is the outer diameter of the width? Have a 6' wide trailer. Would it still fit with this exact configuration of portals and tires?

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Lohmeyer overall width is 78”-80” depending on tire. Not at all it actually makes them more stable because you gain 8ish inches in width..

    if the unit portal has a seal, you may want to ask the manufacturer what the Torque spec is instead of just cranking them down with an impact gun

    I have a commander max with 28” tires and want to upgrade to 33” to run the rubicon.
    I’m thinking of doing a 4” portal lift with 15% reduction to keep my top speed close to stock.
    Would that be enough reduction to still kick the rear loose when trail riding?
    I might throw a evo clutch kit and tuner in at the same time.

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So yes in that instance the 15% would be best. I would only go 30% if you go a bigger tire than that. We actually never mess with clutching and only run oem clutching in our portal rigs

    I have a 2019 ranger 1000xp northstar I want to get it on 34 35 inch tiers I don't wheel to much just hunting rig with some rock trails here and there what do you recommend?

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For your application it sounds like just running a 3” bracket lift should be all you need from satv. Maybe a set of wheel spacers if you have any rubbing issues.

    i have ranger crew 900 with arched a arms and 2" bracket lift running 30" tires. If I purchase 4 inch portals, do I have to buy anything else like axles, etc. ?? or can I keep stock axles,tierods, etc

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can keep the stock axles and tie rods but highly recommend you upgrade the tie rods

  • @truthhurts356
    @truthhurts356 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @ 4:30 how tight are you torqueing the axle bolt? then it turns the trans if in neutral... How do you hold the axle in place to tighten.... superatv didn't give torque specs for all the bolts

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! I am not sure the exact torque but we use an impact wrench and make sure it is good and tight with a healthy dose of loctite. I always have the torque wrench in one hand while holding the axle with the other and it tightens right up with the trans in gear. Hope that helps!

      I have recently added SATV 3" bracket lift, 1 1/2" arched forward arms, 4" SxS gear portals, heavy duty tie rods to my 2017 ranger Xp 1000 EPS hunter addition with 34" tires. I was assured by the companies I bought the parts from ($6000) and they told me that everything would work just fine and I would love my new machine and it will be exactly what I explained to them I needed and wanted !!!!...............BULLSHIT!

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Randomredneck22 this is just my opinion so take it at that lol. I am not a fan of bracket or suspension lifts on Rzr's. They change the factory geometry and make the shocks way to stiff. Long travel kits are cool but I do not think they are worth the cost. Plus you have to use different shocks and axles in most cases. If I were you I would highly recommend portal gear lifts. But it all comes down to what style riding you do mostly! Hope that helps man!

    • @RandomRedd
      @RandomRedd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SlikRok Productions thanks man that does help! I do alot of trial rides (a little rock crawling) but mostly just exploring around. what are your thoughts on just a 3 inch lift.

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anytime man! I think you would loose a little bit of the quality of the ride because it will stiffen up your shocks. So you just need to decide if clearance is worth giving up a little comfort!

    • @RandomRedd
      @RandomRedd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SlikRok Productions yeah man I think ill stick with the stock setup maybe ill just add some high clearance a-arms

    Really enjoying your videos! I have a question, i bought a Polaris general 4 looking at portals and wondering your thoughts on the 4 or 6 inch portals? Do you think the 6 inch will make it to tippy on the rocks? Thanks!

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Sampson thank you mark! So the ranger in this video has the six inch portals and we took it to Moab and ran poison spider, hells Revenge and even hells gate. Only issue with the 6” portals is they are a 45% gear reduction and really takes away your top speed. I would recommend the 4” portals and possibly the satv 2-3 inch bracket lift.

    • @sweatlodgegarage8195
      @sweatlodgegarage8195 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SlikRok Productions northwestern Ontario, Canada.. exchange rate is through the roof and our outrageous taxes don't help much as well, but i believe in "you get what you pay for" so if i need to spend some extra money for damn good quality then so be it, compared to the cost of a lift kit and tires, i was kind of in shock when i saw the prices

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bill Williamson portal gear lifts are so much more than just a lift kit. The allow you to run bigger tire and eliminate the stress throughout your drive train. The make you machine wider which will allow you to articulate more.

    Portal gear lift vs long travel? What do you prefer

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Portals and this is why, with long travel all you gain is width, what you loose is factory shock angles and not properly articulating suspension. With portals you keep your factory shock angles so the shock will function properly, you get 9 inches in width, 30% gear reduction so you can run bigger tires without the added stress on your drivetrain and you gain 4" in clearance.

    • @paulmcdonald8480
      @paulmcdonald8480 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SlikRok Productions so I'm going to order this right soon I have the 2017 sportsman 1000 highlifter it comes with 25% gear reduction already (max 80kmh ) high range great in the mud I'm breaking stock axles all the time in the front can I keep stock when installing this kit? Also the portal lift is a 30% gear reduction will I be the slowest unit out there lol :)))

    • @SlikRokProductions
      @SlikRokProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I can't speak about portals on a sportsman 1000, because we only run them on UTV's. But since we went to portals we haven't broke one stock axle. The gear reduction can be offset with running bigger tires that way you don't loose your top end, but to do that you need to run a 34"-36" tire.

    On Nov 23 I ordered a front differential for my 2016 Ranger. The one they sent me was not even close to being the correct one. I sent it right back not installed and only unboxed for 5 min after I took pictures of both the new and my old dif side by side to show the difference. Today the scumbags tell me they are going to charge me a 25% restocking fee for their mistake. Keep in mind I paid $200 for 2ed day shipping to me and another $58.23 to ship it back to them.
    The scumbag also said the product was damaged!!!!! I personally removed the dif from the box and only took pictures to show the difference and back into the box within 5 min.
    Costs: $1,100 dif
    $258.23 shipping
    $1,358.23 total
    They offered $825
    I will NEVER deal with Super ATV again!!!
