    Michael your strike was a little off today because every other test I saw the spin was in the 6k. Love this line of JPX 921. If I can get the distance from them they will be my next set. If not I'll have to go to the hot metal or pro. Thanks for the review.

    Mike.... I see reviews that talk about the static lofts of irons but never see the dynamic-delivered lofts when testing the clubs. The 31 degree static loft on the JPX 921 7 IRON I would guess is 27 or less at impact for you and better players. This is what matters because many recreational golfer that flip the club at impact actually add loft and that 31 degrees becomes 35 or more.

    Tried P790's, Callaway, Titelist T,, etc series etc. Nothing came close for looks, feel, sound , and most important accuracy. Got fitted and had mine for a while now with Recoil ESX F2 shafts. I'm 68 years old, slower swing speed, been working on my game. Now a 17 handicap. Upgraded from TM Rsi1's. Slots started coming out so need replacing. Absolutely love the 921 Forged. Confidence inspiring, beautiful feel and accurate. Don't care about distance. I hit what I hit but, Ball flight is lovely and I'm hitting more greens which is mostly what I care about.

    I was one of the lucky firsts to receive the 921 Forged irons after pre-ordering them back in 2020. Been playing them ever since. It’s a solid iron, but the difference in feel between the Chromoly slotted 4-7 irons and the 1025E short irons is pretty drastic. The Chromoly irons feel springier and faster but there’s really not much feel on a flushed shot. The short irons, on the other hand, feel more marshmallowy and buttery on flushed shots. I do have some trouble getting my 4 iron trajectory up where I want it. My ball flight tends to be low with it, regardless. All in all, I am perfectly content with them. The 923 Forged definitely look nicer aesthetically, but it’s not really worth spending the money to get virtually the same performance.

    • @damigetsez
      @damigetsez 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Owen Davies that would be great if I were looking to play bladed clubs. I’m a 15 handicap and the forgiveness, distance and shot height that the non tour models gives is what attracted me to the 900 forged. I also play a 4 and 5 hybrid so having the long iron forged option doesn’t help either. Just disappointing to see Mizuno abandon the mid handicap lefty market.

    • @thecollectivetree80
      @thecollectivetree80 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@damigetsez they have made the tour a little more forgiving in this version. I use the MP SEL set blades from 5-w and strike them fine. Current handicap is 10. Don't be scared of a less forgiving club might actually make you a better player

    • @damigetsez
      @damigetsez 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Owen Davies I appreciate the suggestion, but my point is the disappointment in Mizuno to stop making a lefty set of a line that for the last 3 iterations (850 - 919) has had a lefty set. It’s great that their lefty offering now includes the tour model, but it’s sad to see that it was at the expense of a model line that they claim to be a catch all for a large span of golfers. If I were to be forced to play something a little less forgiving I would probably play the taylormade P760 over the tours.

    Your ball speeds were very consistent but flights were not - what was the shaft they sent you? I do wish they would stop increasing the lofts - I think a 32/33 modern 7 iron loft is where they absolutely should stop - for simply gapping reasons alone. My modern desired spec, and what I've bent my clubs to is (PW,9,8,7,6,5,4) -> (47,42,37,32,28,24,21) - it just works and there is no reason for anything stronger - it brings you back to a 47 degree PW, gives you 2/3 stronger mid irons and basically converts your 5 iron into an old bladed 4 iron loft.

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMadstrad57 I have the Mizuno 919 Hot Metal Pros, bent weaker to the lofts I stated above, and they work even better - and they also properly gap from my weakened 47 PW into 'normal' wedges. A 32 degree 7 iron, which is 3 degrees stronger than a traditional 35-degree blade, when you add a hot face and a little less spin, already gets you into old 5 iron distances - so what's the point when you still need to have clubs from 135 and in?

    • @joegarza1835
      @joegarza1835 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul. I also have the 919 hot natal pros. I was seriously thinking of doing the same thing that you have done by making my irons weaker. I have a pretty low ball flight and I have alway thought about tweaking the loft on them. Don’t really care about getting extra distance out of them , but more for a higher ball flight and stopping power with that angle coming into the green. What do you think?

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joegarza1835 I'm fortunate that I live in Toronto very close to the TXG guys and went there for a gapping session with my old CF-16s (which we bent weaker) and then again with the 919 Hot Metal Pros - gain weaker - and they work amazingly well. I honestly would take my loft spec as a starting point and see how you like it - I spent a lot of time figuring it out and it just works. (PW,9,8,7,6,5) ->(47,42,37,32,28,24) which translates into carries for me of (133,146,159,172,185,197) with a Mizuno Tour B X ball - I also gapped them, for interest, with the Titleist AVX and pretty much every club is 3to5 yards longer with the AVX and has 500 less spin. Why I like my gapping is it starts the short end of the bag at the oldest PW Blade Spec of 47 degrees (what Tiger uses) and then it also gives the old 9 iron Spec of 42 degrees, what follows is a stretching of the 8,7,6,5 by increments to end with a 24 degree 5 iron, which is the traditional loft of a 4 iron blade - thus by doing all of the above, I have freed up and created a club that I can add to the bag - and without hesitation, this has absolutely improved my ability to score on the course. I get my 3 desired wedges (52,57,62) - my 52 is my 118-122 club, which I can also back off and play a 90&80 % short with, plus use it for chipping around the green, and I get my 56, bent to 57, which maxes at 105 and can back it down to 80, but I also heavily use around the green for pitching the ball in that difficult 50to25 range, I use the 62 if it's a perfect 75 yard fairway shot or for short-sided shots when necessary. The real benefit of stretching the lofts is I get another hybrid (a 21 and a 16). The 21 is a Taylormade GapR HIgh #4 22 that I play open to 21, and had TXG fit a 110 gram X Stellfiber i110 shaft into that plays 39.5" length (2/3 iron length) than I can fade or draw high into greens from 185 to 210 - I absolutely love this club. The 16 hybrid is a #2 Mizuno 2020CLK with a 94 gram Tensei White TX flex - I use it as both a driving iron as the flight is lower (shaft also 1/2" shorter than spec and plays 40.5" - it's my 220-225 carry club - the CLK2020 is very good low in the face when hitting of tight fairways - the TX Flex really keeps the head in control so it is excellent as a tee club on those tight Par 4s also. Then I'm 14.5 3wood and Driver. After a lot of experimentation and trying to really make the long end of my bag as good as possible, I replaced the DG 120gram S300 shaft in my 5 iron with a lighter Steelfiber i110CW shaft - it just gives me a bit more clubhead speed being lighter - and when I want to go for it, I can extend the carry from my 195-197 'range' to 202-205'ish. For me, making the move from being a 9-11 handicap down to 4-6 where I am now, it was 100% working on my chipping and pitching, but it was also making big improvements in my ability to hit those 175-225 shots - and that is what the Hot Metals Pros and Hybrids, with the right shafts, have allowed me to do.

    Get a set of strong lofted irons and suddenly you need to replace all your wedges 🤦‍♂️ all fine and well hitting 7 irons 190 but what happens when you hit your PW 150 yet your next wedge only goes 125.

      Get each irons bent 1 or 2 degrees up until your wedges so they all gap out with between 12 to 15 yards gaps, all depends how far you hit it to determine the equal gaps. But a fitter can adjust the forged clubs easily to achieve perfect gapping
