  • In this video I do the first modifications to the “Cheapest Traxxas Slash” Project. This is an in-depth installation of the high speed/optional gearing that came with the truck. I also install some of the Shock Preload Adjustment Collars that are provided with the truck as well (on the parts tree). I did this to hopefully stiffen up the suspension which had a lot of roll, which was affecting the amount of power that could reach the ground. Stay tuned for the testing of these mods!! Make sure to Subscribe to my channel if you want to follow the build of this rig!..Many more Upgrades to come!!

    Apparently in 2023 traxxas Wells, the grubs screw into the pinion gear on the motor. I had a Ken break free out, a torch and an extractor set and I still cannot get that Grubbs crew out last night. I finally quit asking and I pulled the grinder out. Using this video I really hope I got my gear mesh set properly. I basically mimicked how the stock gear felt.

    Dang bro thanks for the info!!! I upgraded my 2wd rustler to brushless setup and was wondering why I couldnt move the motor shaft its because of that black casing thanks alot now I can move my motor shaft and gear up a couple tooth💯 Thanks alot bro bro!!!

    One thing to mention is to Locktite the grub screw. Metal to metal. Blue is fine. Using red you have to heat it to remove it.

      Yeah I use threadlock for anything that threads into metal

    great videos, especially the x maxx stuff.
    Check out the Traxxas manual for the slash, on road use has different "hole" for the lower part of the shock. Set the bottom of the shocks closer to the wheel and add preload clips for on road use. Check it out.

      Thanks man! I think I did read about the way to set up the shocks for on road use. I’m sure it would be way more planted. Kinda want the rig to be versatile on/off road so I’m not sure how much I wanna mess with the shock geometry right now. For the high center of gravity this rig doesn’t roll nearly as bad as I was expecting it too.

    What would help the most would be heavier diff fluid, and heavier shock oil in combination with the preload discs on the parts tree

    • @RCKnockout
      @RCKnockout  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I could be wrong but since this is a planetary differential don’t think you put diff fluid in them, only grease. The diff fluid would leak out I think because it’s not perfectly sealed. You’re probably right about the other things

  • @White000Crow
    @White000Crow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I ear plugged my diff which works pretty good, seems to favor a side for traction though.

      @@RCKnockout I might end up doing that soon or spooling it up so it becomes a little more predictable. At the moment I have to steer into a hard acceleration.

      @@White000Crow I’ve tried the spool on my drag slash….don’t like it that much to be honest…..might work better for a basher though

    Is the optional gearing a 23t pinion gear and 86t spur gear

    That's dope, but 4x4 is the way to go for real bashing. Just spend the extra money on a 4x4 even if you must save up longer.

      True.. I do have 4wd Slash’s…I would agree that they would be the better choice over a 2wd.. The 2wd machines still have their place though

    If you want performance don't buy Traxxas. Simple as that. Traxxas is for noobs and fan boys who don't know much else.
