Wow, I’m so impressed by this! I’m from Finland, and I studied some Portuguese for about 6 months, but it’s already a couple of years ago. I started listening to this, and first I didn’t understand a word, but after listening for about one minute, I started getting it, and after a while I realised I basically get everything, at least 85-90%. 😊 I didn’t even think of that you were speaking Portuguese, I just listened to the content. This was a nice experience, thank you, will listen to more of your clips! 🇵🇹🇫🇮
You're right about the lack of content on the internet for learners of European Portuguese and I get the impression that this could be a very useful resource for those who have grasped the basics and need exposure to the language to become more familiar with its day to day usage.
Exactly, I can't even find series or movies in portuguese from Portugal on netflix :/ the majority of my portuguese exposure is from watching Barbara Corby chanel on youtube

My difficulty is sorting out my Spanish (good) from my Brazilian Portuguese (basic) from European Portuguese.

You are very clear in your intent and speak intelligibly so that one can develop an ear for the language, and your episode topics are well thought out. I've gone through your first 5 episodes and love every one of them. Your attention to the development of these episodes is obvious and immensely appreciated. I can't wait to get through more of your series. Even though I can only pick out and comprehend a low percentage of the content right now. In just these few episodes I can already tell a difference from the first to the fifth. I love that there are transcripts available too. Keep doing what you are doing. It is making a difference. I came across your channel today and find yours is one of the best as you speak slowly where one can catch the accent's sound. Hola Leo! Soy de Madrid, y acabo de descubrirte a través de spotify. Es genial que te hayas decidido a aparecer en diferentes plataformas, spotify lo usaba mucho al viajar en tren a la universidad, aunque ahora que estoy tanto tiempo en casa, prefiero ver tus vídeos ya que visualmente se aprende mucho, también. Acabo de empezar a estudiar portugués (por mi cuenta) aunque ya llevo un tiempo exponiéndome a la lengua, y quizá mi nivel es demasiado básico (me aplicaré el consejo que respondiste en otro comentario sobre las palabras y verbos más comunes) pero ya me he visto todos tus vídeos y es increíble lo fácil que me resulta entender lo que dices. Es muy de agradecer que el resto de vídeos sean íntegramente en portugués, incluyendo las explicaciones de vocabulario y expresiones, y otra cosa que es maravillosa es que los subtítulos en portugués (que son muy útiles) se puedan apagar, ya que para mí es más fácil entender el portugués escrito y quiero acostumbrarme a no depender de subtítulos para entender el portugués hablado. Voy a volver a visitar Portugal dentro de poco, y me hace mucha ilusión entender mejor la lengua para entonces. Muito obrigada, e parabéns pelo sucesso do teu canal!

Hola Leo, I got a link to one of your videos from someone whoś looking at the possibility to move to Portugal. I started viewing and listening and I was surprized how easy it was for me to understand almost everything! That is not the case if I try to follow conversations on the streets of Lisboa or when a Portuguese colleague is talking to his wife. I started a basic course back in the 90s that was broadcasted on Dutch TV in combination with a study book a year before I decided to go for a biking vacation in Porto and surroundings. Did not help me a lot as I did not really learned to have a conversation. I also agree that the natural way of learning a language works best for a lot of people (not all though). I grew up in Italy as a kid of Dutch parents and that made me perfectly bi-lingual at a young age. Adding other languages was not that difficult as I started to learn French from a teacher using the méthode audio-visuelle. Shartly after that I added English to my package to be followed by some basics in Spanish. My German grammar is not that good but I understand 99% and can easily have conversations on day to day topics. Later I also learned some Swedish to realise that even that language has many links to the others I already knew. Interesting fact is that the way you pronounce the "o" in Swedish resembles the portuguese one! In other words, your videos are really filling a gap and I am grateful you are putting your effort in offering this approach and at the same time promoting a very nice language and culture.
Thank you for sharing your story! I see you're as much of a language nerd as I am, and I'm glad you find value in my videos! The one I uploaded yesterday actually covers some of the benefits of learning a new language, I'm sure you'll like it!
It's quite impressive the way you speak so slow, which makes the comprehension of Portuguese way easier. As a Brazilian I personally think our accents, or at least some of them, are a lot more poetic and beautiful, and listening to European Portuguese sounds pretty much like almost a new language, I'd say. The sense that all variations are unique and great at its own way is definitely the first step to start learning a new accent. You're doing a good job!

Gostei muito. Como residente a meio tempo da ilha da Madeira, já falo Portugues. Mas há tantas coisas, expressões e formas gramaticais que não existem na nossa lingua, que gosto ver e ouvir os teus videos para melhorar nem só a minha conhescenza da grammatica mas também a minha pronuncia (que já começa ter um sotaque Madeirense :) ) Vou ver tudos os videos!

I have been learning Portuguese for the last few years. I am not an active learner although I have a property in Portugal and visit every few months. I came across your channel today and find yours is one of the best as you speak slowly where one can catch the accent's sound. I learn Brazilian Portuguese for 18 months now and I think it' s quite time to listen to European Portuguese. So I'm glad I found your channel with no extra grammar lessons, but just listening to the complete different sound of the European variety of Portuguese language.

Hola Leo! Soy de Madrid, y acabo de descubrirte a través de spotify. Es genial que te hayas decidido a aparecer en diferentes plataformas, spotify lo usaba mucho al viajar en tren a la universidad, aunque ahora que estoy tanto tiempo en casa, prefiero ver tus vídeos ya que visualmente se aprende mucho, también. Acabo de empezar a estudiar portugués (por mi cuenta) aunque ya llevo un tiempo exponiéndome a la lengua, y quizá mi nivel es demasiado básico (me aplicaré el consejo que respondiste en otro comentario sobre las palabras y verbos más comunes) pero ya me he visto todos tus vídeos y es increíble lo fácil que me resulta entender lo que dices. Es muy de agradecer que el resto de vídeos sean íntegramente en portugués, incluyendo las explicaciones de vocabulario y expresiones, y otra cosa que es maravillosa es que los subtítulos en portugués (que son muy útiles) se puedan apagar, ya que para mí es más fácil entender el portugués escrito y quiero acostumbrarme a no depender de subtítulos para entender el portugués hablado. Voy a volver a visitar Portugal dentro de poco, y me hace mucha ilusión entender mejor la lengua para entonces. Muito obrigada, e parabéns pelo sucesso do teu canal!

Hola Leo, I got a link to one of your videos from someone whoś looking at the possibility to move to Portugal. I started viewing and listening and I was surprized how easy it was for me to understand almost everything! That is not the case if I try to follow conversations on the streets of Lisboa or when a Portuguese colleague is talking to his wife. I started a basic course back in the 90s that was broadcasted on Dutch TV in combination with a study book a year before I decided to go for a biking vacation in Porto and surroundings. Did not help me a lot as I did not really learned to have a conversation. I also agree that the natural way of learning a language works best for a lot of people (not all though). I grew up in Italy as a kid of Dutch parents and that made me perfectly bi-lingual at a young age. Adding other languages was not that difficult as I started to learn French from a teacher using the méthode audio-visuelle. Shartly after that I added English to my package to be followed by some basics in Spanish. My German grammar is not that good but I understand 99% and can easily have conversations on day to day topics. Later I also learned some Swedish to realise that even that language has many links to the others I already knew. Interesting fact is that the way you pronounce the "o" in Swedish resembles the portuguese one! In other words, your videos are really filling a gap and I am grateful you are putting your effort in offering this approach and at the same time promoting a very nice language and culture.
Thank you for sharing your story! I see you're as much of a language nerd as I am, and I'm glad you find value in my videos! The one I uploaded yesterday actually covers some of the benefits of learning a new language, I'm sure you'll like it!
It's quite impressive the way you speak so slow, which makes the comprehension of Portuguese way easier. As a Brazilian I personally think our accents, or at least some of them, are a lot more poetic and beautiful, and listening to European Portuguese sounds pretty much like almost a new language, I'd say. The sense that all variations are unique and great at its own way is definitely the first step to start learning a new accent. You're doing a good job!

Gostei muito. Como residente a meio tempo da ilha da Madeira, já falo Portugues. Mas há tantas coisas, expressões e formas gramaticais que não existem na nossa lingua, que gosto ver e ouvir os teus videos para melhorar nem só a minha conhescenza da grammatica mas também a minha pronuncia (que já começa ter um sotaque Madeirense :) ) Vou ver tudos os videos!
