This video was very helpful but the pronunciation of Sem and Até do not sound like European Portuguese but more Brasileiro. Was that an error?

Parabéns por você ensinar a lingua mais bonita do mundo, é um privilégio falar Português, esta devia ser a lingua universal
Portuguese from Portugal sounds so beautiful and sophisticated!!!!!
Canadian here 👋my father in law lives in Portugal and we are going to spend a few weeks with him later in the spring. I'm trying to surprise him with some Portuguese so thank you for making my dream possible and with such ease! You're a fabulous teacher! Obrigada!
I'm so glad, wow!!
as a US American who has lived in São Paulo, BR for a while, getting this chance to hear the European accents of both English and Portuguese is fun and educational.
I'm so glad!
And the vocabulary and the grammar are quite different too.
Saudações do Brasil, eu amo o português de Portugal, eu morei um tempo em Portugal, fui mais como turista, só para conhecer o país que deu origem ao meu país Brasil e conhecer esse idioma lindo, the Portugal's portuguese accent is so amazing, I love it!Thanks for sharing!
Such a beautiful language
I started watching your videos and realized I’ve been speaking Portuguese all wrong this whole time! So glad your channel exists! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Liz, estou muito feliz
em conhecer uma inglesa
que fala como a portuguêsa,
com o seu rosto muito sorridente,
o que me ajuda a ficar fluente.
Wow! Love this, thank you!
Muito bom! I'm a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker and a Portuguese teacher as well. It's so cool to see you producing this beautiful accent from Portugal
Glad you enjoy it!
Why do Brazilians write the same as the portugese but pronunciation is so different?
@@idaliacristino9635 I think there are several different factors that have changed the pronunciation of the Portuguese in Brazil. The influence of the Indigenous people, the african slaves, immigration from different countries and above all, Brazilians vandalize any language. Have you heard them using English words but they use them in a :Brazilian way"... Like, they add an "e" to the end of any word that ends in a consonant. i.e. Brad Pitt they say Brade Pitte... weekend, weekende, click, clicke Pit Bull, pite bulle, and so on... I think this is influenced by the Italian immigrants to Brazil because in Italy they do the same.
The bad thing, in Portugal, they started to use the same style as Brazilians...

Hi sir
How to write God's willing in portuguese
@@user-by5my4kx7l Oxalá (pronounced Oshallah) derived from the Arabic Inshallah.
Inshallah is the English version. Meaning: God's willing
i.e oxalá que o tempo seja bom amanha (God's willing the weather will be good tomorrow)
In a more formal and religious "oxala" is used "que seja a vontade de Deus" or "Que Deus Permita" both sentences have the same meaning.
Oxalá is the most common used for God's willing.
Hope it helps.
Cheers
CARL (Toronto, Canada)
Thanks, Liz!! One of the best and most useful videos so far, in my opinion
Glad you think so!
Adoro este canal, minha língua nativa é o espanhol e aprendo inglês como segunda língua e português como terceira língua ao mesmo tempo, Saudações.
Que bom!
I love your videos. I watch this one on the treadmill at the gym almost every day. My Portuguese is improving (and I've lost 8 kilos. :) ).
Great to hear!
Seems a handy vocabulary set.I have a advantage learning these words as very close related to Spanish language. This will seriously fast track my learning for basic survival language.Teaching is good.
So glad to hear that!
I find this to be a good validation that I am on the right track. I knew all the words but to distinguish which ones are truly useful in 50% of daily talk is precious.
Excellent!
Sorry that people have been cruel to you. We've been watching you guys for years! Wishing you both the best from Tavira.
Aah please dont listen to them as for one horrible comment we all love you and we are hundreds xxx hugs
Who could be cruel to her and why? She's giving the best content for European Portuguese.
It’s very helpful. I make lots of mistakes when it comes to the differentiation between the brazilian and european portuguese accent
Isto foi fantástico!
Very nicely done. You get a lot of very useful information about pronunciation in your explanations. I learned a lot in this short lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant presentation, thank you, liked and subscribed
Obrigada!! ☺️
Oi amigo !! I am from Ssri Lanka .It was known as ceylan in old days .It was a portuguese colony in 1500s . For my amazement there are many words in this video are still in use here .Obrigado sinhora !!
Thanks for the info! Very interesting
I like her way of teaching, so happy
Went nice and slow
Thank you! 😃
Perfect lesson. Obrigada!
De nada ☺️
In "Parece", the first "E" should have a different sound than the second "E", as the first one is the "Sílaba tónica"(don't know the name for it in english but it's basically the part of the word that "leads"). So, the last "E" should be read with a more closed mouth, while the first "E" should be read as "É". Thanks for the good content.
You're absolutely right !
Same thing with the verb "esquecer". Depending on what tense it comes up, the two last "e" can sound different
Você é excelente professora
Very well thought and excellently explained tricky bits. Obrigado Lisa.

I speak Spanish with I would say - a B+ grade in fluency. Learning Portuguese and Italian and it's super easy to pick up on what's being said with subtitles but definitely takes practice to learn the pronunciation of things. Thanks for the breakdown
Thanks for sharing!
Same here, I find it much easier to understand when I am reading, but very difficult when I listen.
Excellent, sorry EXCELLENT presentation. I think this is perfect for people who have some facility in a few European languages and want to get closer in Portuguese.
I'm so glad!

this was really helpful. I have been living in PT for the past 2 months and all these words have come up multiple times and didn't know what they were referring to. Thank you

My parents didn’t teach me português and I’ve been learning now and I’m so proud that I already know all these words
Grande abraço sou do Brasil.

Love your channel. I was wondering if you could do a video of survival phrases from landing at the airport and checking into your hotel or other accommodation, renting a car, ordering in restaurants, dealing with shop keepers etc. with you actually talking with Portuguese vendors on the other side of the conversation.
Olá, I do have most of those videos on my channel! 😊 hope they are helpful!

Hi Liz! Great work! I have a question - can we call ''nh'' and ''lh'', respectively, nasal and palatalized kerns, just like under the logic of ''ps'' and ''kn'' in English, even though these refer to different phonologic utterances? Thanks.

Excellent lesson
Thanks for watching! ☺️
It's a useful lesson, thank you very much.
As a Belgian, I use 3 languages (Dutch, French, English) to translate to Portuguese.
But nevertheless it's still difficult to learn the language.
Lucky my brasilian fiancée understands English a little bit 😁
Perhaps you could find Portuese & French reference grammars, both books & websites. Portuguese & French are Latin languages, so grammar ,syntax are are similar, but French vocabulary is guide different from
Portuguese, Spanish, etc. (See
videos by Langfocus & NativLang
2 video channels.)
You are the best....

So glad it was helpful!
Thank you very much !
You're a great teacher ! I only intended to learn the words and go on my way, but your explanations on the pronunciation and the examples were so useful I ended up watching the whole video actively. As a self-learner, pronunciation is especially hard to get, but thanks to you, now I actually get why this and this are pronounced this way instead of just learning it. Thank you again !
