After you're done with the brake pads, pump your brake peddle to push the caliper back into "ready" position. If you dont, it's likely that it may take a few seconds to engage while you're in motion (I speak from experience!😣)
Thanx for the informative video. I replaced the rotors and pads on my truck today, and it was relatively painless. One note though for people using the Duramax Gold pads from Autozone; re use the old clips. The clips in the kit do not fit a 2003 Ram 1500.
I had the same problem with my Hood and found that an old man Walker worked really nice for that nothing wrong with a stick either. After many years I changed those lifters and to this day still forget but it's going to open up by itself. For people that wonder why anyone would wait so long for me it was cost I had to wait until the price was right. I'm watching your video right now in hopes it will motivate me to do the same thing only this time I won't have to do the rotors most of the time they look like yours though. My one word answer is oops with a capital o.
Great information!!! I'm going to follow your instructions and do my front brakes on my 2004 Dodge Ram this weekend. Do you need any lubricants, grease or lock tight to do the job? Also, any video on the rear brakes?
This is the best video on changing out the pads I have seen , You and your wife had me laughing so hard . Her comments were great. When she said that's bad. bad . bad . hahawhat a team. You two made it look fun. Thank you so much. Will do mine next week. keep up the great work. God Bless
Great video, the best part is the woman cheering you on. I would highly recommend you replace those piston seals, they've obviously failed 7:59 and once dirt gets up in between the piston and the housing it's going to do some serious damage to those machined surfaces, not too mention that's a likely cause why the pistons aren't floating back and causing the premature wear on the pads, and your job this time. If you don't get them now, you'll be looking at replacing it all, and that's expensive. Easy enough to replace the seals now, and save some $$$$$ down the road.
This looks so easy.. mine needs front and back. I heard the rear because of the e brake, is a little tricky? Do you have a video on that? Thank you.. I'm subbing you....Bob
You know the uneven wear that caused the problem is the caliper boot you did not replace, right? You needed new or rebuilt calipers. Otherwise good video
Him: "My broom stick holder." Her: "Did it come with the truck"? Hell no, but it damn sure ought to have! After a few months the hood is practically useless without this little handy dandy DIY gadget. Never leave home without it.
+LifeBuzzN "Hater"?Who's hating? I just thought it was funny. Actually, I thought it was funny as hell. Matter of fact, I have the same aftermarket broom stick holder on my 2002 RAM.
Cankuwicasa...and my fucking '04! lol Dodge's are POS!! I have a folder 2" thick of parts I've bought and replaced...the list goes on and on.I take great care of this truck, had it since it was new and never beat it. Chicks rarely beat vehicles the way guys do. Most are too scared. It makes me sick how many things I have had to replace on him. Tail lights...shit...I've replaced the TAIL LIGHT, not the bulbs, on both sides 3X each side. Keep getting water in them. Doesn't matter if it's OEM or original. My year truck has been nothing but a source of constant work. Fucking thing..still love him though...idiot..lol
I have an '04 too. Same type of hood prop. Guy on eBay is selling replacement lift cylinders -- both of 'em for like 13 bucks & change -- shipped. Gotta do it.
Theresa Konieczny I got an 07 ram 1500 N haven't had any problems. Good n bad with all makes. Still got original headlights in mine n replaced rear bulbs once. About to change brakes n tires for the 2nd time. Tires here in Vegas dry rot before tread wears down.
Still on, as a matter of fact, I think they may be getting ready for a check. Wish I remember the brand, but the were the average prices from the O store.
I was thinking new rotors for $20-$25, what is this guy smoking?! Then realized this video is from 8 years ago. Just got rotors for this same truck at Napa…$120 each for fronts, $155 each for rears, for mid grade rotors! 😅😅😅
By FAR, the best step by step video I've seen! Now, after watching many vids, I feel confident to replace the brakes myself. Great job! Thanks!
4:53 "You're so strong" camera girl exclaims breathlessly.
Someone got some that night.
+moncorp1 I love impressing her............
I kinda knew how to do break pads but I watched the whole video because you my friend are a pretty good teacher 👍👍👍👍

I got one of those "Custom Hood Supporters" with my Ram 1500 too!
Yup.
Thanks for your time and your assistants on this.
Thanks for simplifying the job. I also enjoyed the wife's comments throughout the video. Again thanks.
+Willie Colbert You are welcome Willie. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take Care
I Love your wife's narrating !
Lil Debbie says......Thanks

Great informative video! Thanks...also I LOVED the wife's little comments and gestures throughout...had me laughing.
Jose Nicholas You are welcome.....ya the Wife.....what a jewel.
"What is that?"
"Oh just some kind of lube, any lube will work."😂

25$???? Wow, that was 7 years ago. FJB. Let's go brandon.
your wife makes this video! also, she asks questions a newbie would want to know, so its great she asks and gets an answer. plus it adds to the video.

I'm restoring an 05 ram that's been sitting for a few years. It's black and I hope it looks as good as this one in the video.

Good luck with your brakes. Debbie for sure make is more fun.
No grease on the caliper slide pins? Needs to be moving freely.
Does this mirror a 2008 Dodge Ram. Like your video.
Safety first, always wear open toed sandals when working on a big ass truck LOL...J/K, this guy is a pro
i ran my down so bad it took rotor face off and cooling fins i had to do everything new yours look good compared to mine

Thanks Ryan.....very good tips.
The camera womans commentary is awesome!
She says "Thanks".
Nice Job, but what about replacing that torn piston dust cover??

The first set of bolts were 14mm, what size were the second set of bolts?

From a different video... do you worry about reversing fluid to the abs by clamping the calipers vs using a bleeder kit on the caliper?
Great video! You were both great!
Thank You
Nice video dude! Btw how's your pumpkin doing ;)
eetu rautio Here ya go......th-cam.com/video/Nij3-H8pk74/w-d-xo.html
Thanks bud👍🏼🍀👍🏼

I use PB Blaster to clean my rotors.
Thanks for watching and commenting Ron. If you haven't already done so, subscribe to keep up with updates. Thanks
Great vid
"Pretty tight" -- Could be wrong but 02-08 1500's should be 130 lbs for the caliper bracket bolts.
Him: "My broom stick holder."
Her: "Did it come with the truck"?

+Cankuwicasa Don't be a hater.....that's how we roll.

Thank You Sir. Very Helpful.
what size socket did you use to take the last 2 bolts off before removing the rotor
+C Money Gosh, I can't remember....the one that fit is all I have. Sorry.
I had to torch the two caliper bracket bolts then kinda hammer on a 13/16 socket and use a big breaker bar with a 5ft pipe just to get mine to give.
“I didn’t invent leverage”. Hahaha.
What size socket do you need to remove the larger bolts that takes the bracket out??
Sorry, I do not remember.
Good video, very informative!
Scott Lowe Thanks Scott. It's so easy.....why spend $300-$400 per job????
Dam AWSOME thanks gonna do mine today ,,thank you friend 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good Luck....you are welcome.
thanks...great video !
Thanks for this video. I needed some help :)
You are welcome. Thanks for watching it.
nice diy! thumbs up.

I'm a little disappointed my Dodge didn't come equipped with that after market hood propper-upper lol.
Loved this Video, very informative. You have gained an extra sub sir. Love all your videos :)
I Plow Fat Apes Thanks, glad you like them. I'll try to keep it interesting for ya.

Di Wu Thanks for the watch....
Nice video!!!
+537VIK Thanks
Best video I've seen yet on brakes.....Will this same work procedure work for a 2002?
Probably pretty close.
Funny sidekick😆
Man i know how to take a wheel off! Lets get to it!
Not everybody does, you can fast forward.
What brand? How did they wear these past 3 years?
Still on, as a matter of fact, I think they may be getting ready for a check. Wish I remember the brand, but the were the average prices from the O store.
Doin my brakes today. Rotors cost 90 dollars each. Thanks democrats
Awsome thx for the video
My Pleasure.
Right

This guy is TALL.
Those brakes are gonna go out real quick as soon as that caliper starts sticking or leaking whichever comes first.
+rockynymia Actually, it's been almost 2 years, no issues.
You are wrong in how the caliper goes back in. Top bolt first yes.
So when are you going to replace the caliper boot? It's gonna freeze up and your be replacing everything over again.Duh!
Need to replace that whole truck.......
I didn't invent leverage 🤣🤣
Camera girl cool!
For sure!!
Love the wife
Me too.
T
use brake clean it be faster
