  • In episode 7, I told you the first part of the story of 12-year-old Alex Hurley. I provided updates on Alex’s case throughout the next three years. This past week, the last family member charged in Alex’s death was finally sentenced, so I’m revisiting Alex’s story in an all-new, comprehensive episode like I’ve never told it before.
On February 3, 2020, first responders were summoned to a home in West Yellowstone, Montana, where they found 12-year-old Alex Hurley dead on the living room floor, battered and malnourished. Five people aged 14 to 48, including four paternal family members, were arrested and charged with various crimes surrounding Alex’s long-term systematic torture and eventual murder.
In this episode, I’ll tell you Alex’s story as thoroughly as possible from start to finish. You’ll also hear my recent conversation with Alex’s mom, Alicia Davis, who told me all about the happy, active boy she nicknamed “Bubba Brown.”
This is the heartbreaking story of Alex Hurley, retold.

This is the only episode I had to click off of. Just too much inhumanity and brutality and he was so aware of it.

The mother should also be accountable for not checking on him in person to make sure he was ok I couldn’t imagine not physically seeing or touching my kid ☹️

Yes. If someone kept me from communicating with my child, I would be calling for a welfare check.

Its one thing thinking of a single person treating a child in this manner… its another thing entirely when you hear of an entire family with friends abusing a child like this. I hope these monsters have the day they deserve…

Hi Laine. I /we just moved into our “ New To You “ house. Then a month later, our adult daughter had several life upheavals, and had to move in with us after being on her own for 11 years. ( 28 years old)This was a major setback for our savings account as you can imagine. When I will send you a commitment donation. I love your dedication. ❤ Sorry so long!😂 These folks are monsters. Just never ceases to amaze me how cruel folks can be to their own family members.😢 CRAZY!😵‍💫

I was just covering this case and I came to your channel for some extra information. I really appreciate you covering this case. We need more people like us to stand up and share awareness on these cases so laws will be changed! These monsters should never walk with a light sentence! Thank you for all you do Laine! I'll tag you in my tiktok when I get it uploaded. ❤

I have been listening to you and Misery Machine non stop for days now. You all tell the victims stories so well. I love the subtle snark when you want to say so what we are all thinking. I just don’t understand why you don’t have more followers. Maybe child abuse cases are too hard for some people to handle. Anyway keep doing what you do! 😘

Knowing the deference between good/evil & wrong/right really is not not covered by brain development for someone until 21yrs old. Maybe in different issues but not the torture of young Alex.

I couldn't agree more 90%of people who suffer abusive backgrounds do not participate in abusive behaviour while in the situation or through out their lives I know I'm one there has to be evil in you to take part and if you don't want to be the person abused why the hell won't you do it to anyone else it's pure evil I'm sure they'll make outstanding citizens in the future

I know the children who abused Alex didn't know any better. They need extensive psychological therapy so as to understand & become parents who know how to love their children.
The adults had choices. As a survivor myself, I had choices.
One example I give is seeing a boyfriend hit my 7yo on the back of the head. Not hard enough to hurt him, but he was warned if he laid a hand on my son again he was gone!
I'd known this man for 20yrs, 1st time we tried dating.
I was in my bedroom wrapping presents & I heard my son run to his room crying. I asked him what was wrong. This guy had pinched him. I marched out to the living room & told him to leave. He gathered his stuff & was gone.
When you become a parent, you're #1 priority is no longer your comfort, but the wellbeing of the children.
As this mom said, this grandma coyld have sent that sweet boy elsewhere. I also could have never have sent my children to live w/ someone else.
My mother wanted custody of my older son. She allowed my sister & myself to be abused! Why the hell would I give him to her?! I did just fine w/ both. My younger will tell me that. 🐱🐱
